For anybody else wondering, my context was that there is a lot of people who go to the raiders games from La from Oakland, and they trash a lot of the LV crowd. Did I think that if the team starts winning more raiders fans will show up, of course. But I feel like the missing context was needed in this question. My email was super long for anybody wondering. HONDO, not being a fan is what gives me the feeling that what he's reporting is true and is not himself just taking potshots that are geared towards portraiting the organization in a bad way . When I first heard HONDO asking his questions in press conferences with coaches and players, it made me feel that he was a fan like myself, just hearing his great questions . Raiders have been pretty good in the later rounds. They just have missed in the first. If they can maintain their later round hits and hit in the first round as well then we can get it going sooner rather than later.
You are right Hondo the main thing is we need to hit on our early round picks more often. If we hit on Arnette and Leatherwood we would not have holes in our roster right there.

Like AoC the person, but AoC the player is not a fit. We are running the McCarthy version of the WCO which requires mobility and downfield passing. AoC is a 25yo overachiever who is a game manager. The Raiders MUST upgrade QB and this is the year to get a franchise guy. Next years QB draft is weak. Hondo clearly doesn’t understand fit and scheme
If we pick a right tackle and a cornerback with our first two picks, will any of the available quarterbacks in the draft after that be any better than the three guys we have now?
This is EXACTLY my question Robert. I think we use the 3rd or 4th round to draft someone to be in the room with Gardner and AOC for a year before competing seriously next season. That could be Ratler, Travis Jordan (or Penix if he's still around in the 3rd)

@Hondo I appreciate your loyalty to AoC and your sources , however you are misguided and overvalue statements made. AoC is a 25 yo player who doesn’t have the physical skills set to excel in this system/scheme. Yes he can be an average starter in JMD type of system, but not the McCarthy WCO we are running, which requires mobility and deep arm talent. Secondly, you keep saying Penix has first round talent and most draft experts do not see Penix available at #44. So, if next years draft was better at QB I could see the Raiders riding with Minshew. But it’s not. We are drafting a QB, and if you do, you draft someone to be a starter right?

Think Steve Young, Brett Farve etc...outsideZBS handoffs require the QB to reach the RB and roll out in a bootleg to hit the Move TE and/or Downfield. AoC fit the prior scheme, but is too limited an athlete to excel. Why the loyalty to a 26yo rookie who had one good game? Other than EB there are no offensive coaches who worked with AoC. Again "great kid" but not an NFL starter IMO.
Hondo blocked me. He didn't like my disagreement response. He seems to try and push his ideas on everyone else even though a great deal of fans disagree with his sales tactics. At least he doesnt have the courage to respond and I try to keep it peaceful and respectful. Go figure. Fandom is not a one way street
