Alaska by a FREAKING LANDSLIDE! Let’s go. I’ve always thought Alaska was secretly always the best airline. When people think of North American Airlines, they think of Delta, United, and American. Alaska should be apart of that
Alaska isn't that big unfortunately. I can't book an Alaska airlines flight on any day I please out of my local airport where I can do so with Delta, Southwest, United, and American Airlines
No
Alaska has always been great. Glad to see that they didn’t use the pandemic as an excuse to drastically lower the quality of their product.
Right. A chicken sandwich and bag of chips in First Class on Alaska there’s nowhere else to go. Inflight crew is ok but food/beverage in First Class is nothing to tout about
@@robyoungquist5803 they suck.
Even though i'm a Delta fan, i'm impressed of Alaska Airlines
hope they fly all over the world
I had a feeling it was Alaska, I have an obvious bias with it being my favorite airline and my dad being a pilot for them, but I'm glad they've taken this challenging time head on and done their best.
They have and tbh they must protect staff and clients end of :-)
Same here my dad is a gate agent but when he said it was Alaska I was so unbelievably happy lol but I’m Verry biased too
We have fond memories flying with Alaska. The pilots have invited my son with Downs Syndrome into the cockpit many times. He loves it and talks about pilot Tom all the time.
My old man flies for them too. Great airline, and gotta love how they treat their pilots. No furloughs thank God!
Given they don’t offer any long-haul flights, it’s easier for them to prioritize the experience on short- and medium-haul flights.
Big agree on Alaska, Jeb! As a fan of your videos for a long time it’s great to see you join the Alaska fan club. PDX is my home airport and I refuse to fly any other airline for domestic flights unless I absolutely have to. There care and service has remained wonderful in the current environment.
Aloha Jeb! At Hawaiian we still serve meals in main cabin with water bottles and limited soft drinks. As far as first class goes we still serve a full hot meal with appetizer, main, and dessert with coffee, tea, and alcoholic beverages. I feel like we’re doing a lot more than the other major carriers.
Recently flew first class. Didn’t enjoy it, sorry. And it was a packed flight.
Alaska is sweet Jeb. Here at San Diego they offer a good amount of routes and plan on adding more! Great Airline.
Dude great vid love the content Keep it up and never quit!!
Glad to be flying Alaska Airlines again in a couple of weeks from ORD to PDX. I'm very happy they're offering actual food options for first class and not just a snack box. I'm also looking forward to that empty seat next to me and that free lounge access on my way home. Great video!
Thanks for the comparison! I love the videos you made my morning thanks!
I’m so glad to see this video! I was really looking forward to it.
Another great video! Hope you are well, Jeb.
Thank you so much for this. I'm using my airline ecredits to take my first plane trip since covid and I wasn't sure whether to go Delta Comfort or Delta First Class and you definitely helped me decide. 😊
Thank you for the video!
As always, enjoyed it, thanks Jeb
This was such a well done video! I loved this man
It’s been a while since I’ve had the joy of watching one of these vids
Great video Jeb keep up the great work
Completely agree!!! I have been flying with Alaska for about 30 years and it's just unbeatable for your short to medium long flights. The attendants are wonderful, although some can be mask crazy. I am a loyal Alaska Airlines flyer. Their mileage plan awards program is unmatched, leg space is good (limited if you get the 280 pounder next to you), and the food is good!!!
Solid review and video! 🤙🏼
Great video Jeb!
Great stuff. As a Oneworld guy, I'm happy to hear that Alaska took the top spot. Happy holidays, Jeb!
@J. Gabriel Kramp thanks for the heads up - edited!
I live in Seattle which is their biggest hub city and Alaska has a lot of non stops from sea tac. Which is what made me sign up for their credit card.
Voted for Alaska in your poll earlier! 👍
Good to see you agree.
3:40 Hawaiian Airlines also gives lounge access to First Class ticket holders. I have been in their lounges a number of times with a domestic First Class ticket.
They also have lie flats on some routes. Much better than Alaska when it’s an option.
Great video Sir Stay safe watching from the uk 🇬🇧
Great airline comparison!.
Great job, Jeb! 👏🏽👏🏽
Thanks Jeb! Well Done! You've Changed My Mind! I've Always Been A Delta First Class Kinda Guy! Looks Like I'm Going To Change That! I'm Booking A Cruise On NCL For An Alaska Cruise In 2022. Was Going To Fly Delta First From LAX To SEA! Going To Look Into Alaska First Class Now! Thanks Again Jeb! Stay Safe My Friend! 💖💕
Excellent video! I have always been biased towards United for a good reason as my mother was a flight attendant for them for almost 25 years so... But recently I had a chance to fly on Alaska PDX-SEA-PDX for training as as Ground Service Agent for Horizon Air at PDX. After I got back to PDX for ramp training I decided that the GSA job was not for me and resigned. However I was most impressed with Alaska Airlines in general and will definitely try them again as a revenue passenger next time.
Great review Jeb! We've flown American Airlines Domestic First Class a few times since re-opening. Definitely disappointing in flight services but the rates are still off of pre-shutdown rates. I just wish they were more consistent. Recently we flew to Vegas from DFW - was offered drink service and snacks by a friendly flight crew on the way there. On the return flight it's almost like the flight crew was trying to hide from the First Class customers. Only when someone started dinging the service button they offered drink service to first class but acted like they were being put out.
10:15 when he said “unprecedented “ made me think about that SNL skit LOL
You scored my favorite domestic AA seat and their great 3D IFE tracker is a big reason why. AS is the only one of these 4 I haven't flown in 2020. I have no excuse not to give them a shot in 2021!
Alaska is a wonderful airline but I'm biased as I have many friends who work for them. I have flown all the airlines you showcased and didn't have a bad experience on any of them. I was pleasantly surprised with United though, and look forward to flying on them again. Great Video!
As an Alaska 75k, I can't agree more! Jeb, try this again when COVID is over and I bet you don't change your mind. The Alaska Lounge has almost all of its drinks on the "comp" list for no charge, the catering on board is amazing with a multi course meal, and the staff are second to none. I am lucky to live in an Alaska focus city and can fly almost exclusively with them. Plus, now that they are joining OneWorld it will mean I can still earn miles and enjoy some FF perks while on American in some places Alaska doesn't fly.
Great comparison video, Jeb is always very professional. The prediction of a business class drop of up to 30% permanently is of course pure speculation, I've a feeling that within the next 2 years flying will be back to near what it was pre Pandemic.
Amazing and inspiring. I’m a musician and this gives me lots of fuel for the imagination, so thank you! 💜
Alaska is the best there the brave ones who get me safe travel around my home state of Alaska I told u years ago to try them and you did and this is exactly why great video go Alaska
Please make a video on lounge comparisons.
Nice video Jeb.
Good video!
and awesome to se u coming to dfw my airport
well I live in Granbury but awesome to see how close u came
The Big 3 knew they were sunk when you added Alaska to the mix. Haha
great video!
Robert isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.
LOVE Alaska Airlines!!!
What day did you fly out of RDU? My Dad went to DFW the other day. Awesome video!
Agree full time! Alaska is my favorite airline! I am a big fan of this airline! I've flown on them since childhood, and my first plane ride was with Alaska! I'll definitely fly with them as much as I can!
Good to see you again, Jeb. Good news! The clock is starting to wind down on my grounding! After this month, I only have 2 more months to go. I speak to my doctor in January, and hopefully my restrictions won't be renewed. This coming year, I'll be allowed to travel the East Coast. First trip? Heading to ORF to visit my brother! Most likely I'll be connecting through ATL, so hope I run into you!
Hey jeb just wondering can we expect some content from the returning max jets! Also curious were you on the frist return to service flight!
Jeb, Thanks for another great video. I was surprised to see that Delta was not on top since you typically see them as the best. Also if you see this message I sent you a question on Instagram and was hoping to see your response. Thanks in advance and gave a good holiday.
I'm pretty sure that I experienced the same American Airlines IFE system on my 777-200ER flight, and I gotta say, it's pretty awesome.
I like Jebs analysis however, I’m so not into the flying mood at this point in time. Maybe next year.
JetBlue's Mint service is pretty sweet too
Jeb, I totally agree. I've flown Alaska, American and United in First this year (with trip reports as well :D) and Alaska takes the cake for me. Drink menu, more food options and especially that warm cookie :D. United second with the drink menu and snack box with American coming in last for me. I unfortunately did not receive any drinks/snacks when I flew their CRJ-900 and LUS A321 (without the IFE). Great video as always!
Jeb, thank you for all the videos you put out for all of us to watch and enjoy!!! I'm curious which airline do you personally feel is the most safety-minded due to the Covid 19 right now. and which one do you think would be the most safest minded by the end of the first quarter if let's say only 20% of the passengers have received a vaccine? Which airline is already packing every seat possible in the economy and first-class cabins? Do you think any airline will still have an empty seat next to you if you happen to be a regular Joe still flying in the economy class section by the end of the first quarter of next year? Which airlines are already packing their planes or which ones are still flying a limited amount of passengers per aircraft? I know you already mentioned Alaska and Delta are still keeping a seat open between each passenger. I thought Southwest is still doing the same but will be packing the planes after the first of next year. I don't know of any other airlines that are keeping open seats. I will continue to do my homework but would really like to know from you since you have a huge knowledge base of most airlines.
I apologize for all of my huge amount of questions. My curiosity comes because I'm planning to fly next week and also close to the end of March. I have a mother that is 90 yrs old and has asthma...she, of course, won't be flying and hopefully will already have been given a vaccine shot by the end of the first quarter of next year and that will be so much less stress on me. If money isn't an issue which airline would you choose for either first class or economy class?
Really enjoyed this Jeb. I’ve only flown a handful of times domestically within America. Last year I had 3 x AA Domestic 1st flights, and was thoroughly impressed. I’ve heard mixed reviews about them, but I have to take my hat off to them. Everything was as good as can be. And the flights were 3-4 hours, so a flat bed wasn’t missed (daytime flight too).
Things I enjoyed:
- Food
- Live TV
- Cabin Crew
- Comfy Seat
This video has inspired me to venture away from One World next time I’m that side of the pond
Alaska is now in oneworld too (and are especially good partners with AA)
Great vlog as always! I can only speak for a few people in Norway when I say that they will travel by air asap! They are so sick and tired of all this on line this, that and the other. One person said; there is no small talk. I do not think or hope that the airlines will lose that much ground to the web. Stay safe and be safe!
Great video Jeb. As I'm reading through the comments, I'm surprised to see that Hawaiian Airlines is not on the list.
I am content to bring my own goodies and just be happy to fly. With reduced customers, there are severly reduced budgets and it sure beats any other mode of travel. In time, it will get better.
Aleskya is fantastic always it seems. Even from a outside perspective like my own (I've only flown once so far in life when I was 3 back in 1997 from PDX to Reno lol), I hear and see most consistently across the board with avgeeks and trip report youtube that Alaska is always on top of their game.
I knew it was Alaska Airlines!! 😀 I wish I could fly them also but DTW is Delta.. 😔 ✈
Spoiler alert? Lol
American Airlines are flying their 777-300's DFW To MCO this month.
I flew from CLT to MIA on a 777 the other day, I couldn't believe it! Good thing my upgrade cleared 😂
Lucky, just came from DFW to MCO 2 weeks ago on the 321-200 and it really didn't help we were stuck on the tarmac in FL both times for hours so having the long haul version would've eased that hell significantly.
You compared each airlines' CRJ2s a while ago, you should also compare their E175s
Larger planes on shorter routes?
I love it when you get to fly larger planes. I got to fly a Delta 767-300 on a shorter domestic route.
Blocked seats have already somewhat gone away even on Delta.. i saw it happen today... yes Delta is blocking all MIDDLE seats. But to have a middle seat you need a 3 seat row. On planes (like the 717) which are arranged in a 2-3 configuration you COULD have a seatmate on the 2 side. This is true in Main Cabin or Comfort+.
Cool
Definitely happy to have Alaska as my hometown airline. Can’t think of a bad experience I’ve had, which is not true for a few of these airlines
I love flying southwest though. Even though its economy and no first class or business class. I know there ain’t IFE screens but i love looking out the window and watching movies or napping.
Omg yayyy finally
Love your videos Jeb! We in Australia domestic business class (your first class) is FAR more expensive; it’s actually ridiculous.... we have little competition... thus the price wars are now starting; with added new Virgin Australia owner and Rex local airline.
Thus in USA you get better prices; for domestic business class “first class” than we do eg: 60min flight here or 90min Qantas is $1200-$1800 one way! AUD
As you mentioned in other videos USA our Australian domestic “business/first” is much better than Europe domestic eek....! Those are shocking!
Lounges access as you point out; we get that on all domestic business class no matter ticket (all business domestic business class) get access OR if you buy membership lounge / or are a loyal platinum/ gold memberships with airlines - hence Qantas is preferred (based on membership numbers) as they have more partners as One World Members,
I love this and has helped a lot! Thanks mate keep flying safe - cheers
Went with united airlines 737-800 business class. My wife will be flying in seat 1f and 1a. Thanks for the videos
Love Alaska Airlines! And I prefer to bring my own device to stream their content, especially now to reduce having to touch things. They are hands down the best
Great video, as always! Has DeMuro tried to sue yet?😉
Your the best
First, thanks for your videos; I really enjoy them. I was (am) a business traveler until the pandemic. I live in DC so American is the hub here. I wish it was Delta. I love having the IFE systems included and we now see fewer and fewer in the American domestic flights. In addition, prior to the pandemic, some of their planes were so old and uncomfortable it would really anger me. It was almost like they were saying, we're the biggest and we are here; deal with it. At least Delta takes care of their planes and it feels like they care more about the customer experience. Just my observation. Again, love your videos.
Delta has the oldest fleet and American has the youngest fleet. Not saying anything about service or offerings, but when it comes to metal, AA is debt because they bought so many new planes. Delta is finally getting rid of some old MD aircraft and ancient boeing planes, they have needed an overhaul for many years.
I'm gonna fly Alaska first class and I'm gonna do a video on it for my aviation channel!
My go to airlines; United (star alliance) & Alaska for West coast.
Having flown Alaska for years, I will have to say that they are the best overall carrier and I wish I still lived in one of their hub cites but sadly my work took me to a city only served by American or an hour drive to fly Delta and United however I can drive 4 hours to fly Alaska.
It should be noted that the IFE in that 737 of American you flew will be gone soon as they finish up their "Oasis" project. I few Amerian in October and November with on flight being on their Envoy Air subsidiary and was good. Then flew DFW to Chicago on a 787 and the flight was good except for our FA who did her job but was not friendly at all.
You should fly on WestJet Boeing 787-9
That’s interesting because I took a Alaska a320 or 737 I don’t remember but from ORD- LAX
Called it!
When I saw the Alaska cabin in the thumbnail I basically knew the winner. I can’t wait to fly Alaska again after COVID!
The only real difference in cabin cleaning that I've noticed is that now what used to just occur during the overnight shifts (deep cleaning with full vacuum, spray and wipe down all surfaces, etc) is now also happening between all, if not most, flights during the daytime... albeit a more expedited process with electrostatic sprayers to keep turnaround times and delays at a minimum... and at most line stations (smaller airports) the cleaning during a turnaround is usually taken by a lone ramp agent or in some cases, the gate agent working the flight... not a whole team of cleaners as is often portrayed in clips seen lately... regional jets especially, as there isn't a whole lot of room to have a team of 4 or 5 cleaning without everyone bumping into one another... narrowbodies can be knocked out with a team of 2 or 3, but again, at smaller outlying stations it's a one man/woman operation when it comes to cleaning...
First class today feels like what coach was in the 90s and early 2000. It sucks with American pulling out IFE seat back monitors but they were usually very large and you lost about 25% of your foot space because of the computer. With many business travelers having their laptop and iPad with them I feel like it's not a huge stretch to be working while your movie plays on the other appliance. Meal service was also pretty much dwindling even before the pandemic. I would usually fill up in the Admirals Club and sneak a snack on because I anticipated it being a little more than a snack.
JetBlue might be seting a standard for a domestic first-class product I would not be surprised to see Alaska and the big three American United and Delta going to one to one configuration or a staggered 2x2 configuration with direct aisle access we shall see in the future
Hey Jeb have you gone to SNA Orange County California?
Well, Alaska Airlines ALSO does transcon flights on their 737 from LAX/SFO-JFK
They also have flights to Hawaii from the west coast cities, I believe...
It's also worth noting when disambiguating domestic first vs. international first, that for the EU carriers, short-haul business class is economy (sometimes extra legroom, sometimes not) with a blocked middle seat (and in an RJ, generally not even a blocked seat), or in other words, if you're flying Delta in these times, "main cabin or maybe even comfort+" (though to be fair, EU shorthaul business class typically includes a meal, even on a flight whose distance wouldn't get you more than snacks in first class in the US). Even in Asia, short-haul first/business class is at best US domestic first (2-2 recliners with a 36"-ish pitch).
3 years down the road and it seems little has changed, except the flights we’ve been on have been mostly full and IT issues have caused major disruptions.
I’ve noticed American now lists most of the domestic routes we fly as business class, nit first class. We fly from a midwestern regional airport and connect through the airlines hubs, so the majority of our flights are under3 hours. When all legs are closer to 2 hours, we’ll fly economy, otherwise I’m looking at the first-business class seats. When flying economy I’ll typically look to SWA’s, mainly for their boarding process and the ability to purchase my way to an A1-15 position. This nearly always ensures I can select seats within the first 10 rows, which is important to my slightly claustrophobic wife and makes it easier to make a tight connection.
Modern “first” class reminds me more of what flying economy used to be back in the late ‘60’s or ‘70’s. Maybe it’s just fond memories from my childhood, but there always seems to be more room and more attention to service, even in the cheap seats.
Meals have made their return on the longer flights, although I can’t say I’m overly impressed. We don’t book the seats for the meals. In our case, we book them for the extra room, not having to deal with a rube who doesn’t know the meaning of personal space and not having to deal with the gate lice, which li e up and crowd the boarding area three boarding groups ahead of their own.
In the old days, it occurs to me there were three classes of domestic service, first, business and economy. Business class was eliminated on domestic routes long ago and was reinvented as economy plus several years later. As things have evolved, it’s now first class that’s been eliminated with business class evolving to take its place. I suspect this is partially due to the aging demographics of our population. We are now in our 60’s with more disposable income and we’re more likely to pay for those larger seats and better service, including priority lines at the counter, true priority boarding, in some cases priority TSA lines and priority checked bags which come off the carousel first.
First class offers a level of service we’re not typically willing to pay for a shorter three or four hour flight. Business class however offers a better flying experience at an affordable price. That will fill those seats with paying passengers rather than upgraded passengers so the airline can sell a few more economy seats.
I flew from Fairbanks to Anchorage on Alaska/Horizons E175 aircraft we only had small water thats it. Pre covid19 we had coffee in a real cup pop/alcohol and a fresh snack. On way up from Anchorage to Fairbanks on E175 premium seat i was next to an off duty state trooper on a FULL aircraft no spaced seating.
The IFE system on the American 737 you flew are fantastic. They are only on select 737’s (the newer deliveries they received in 2017). Unfortunately American is in the process of eliminating those screens and interiors in favor of their interior configuration which I find awful.
What about Hawaiian first class? Worth it or should I go with economy?
Someday i hope to fly these nice seats with nice lounges, until then i fly coach with the rest of us plebs 😭
Do you have any idea why bunnik travel hasn’t posted anything for sometime
This might be a silly question, but we are flying Delta next month...do they still give out earbuds for flights?
Jeb I flew from slc to ogg last week, and only got 2 runs of. snacks which were either biscoff, for cheez itz.
Alaska Airlines has the best flight attendants in the industry
I knew it was going to be Alaska Airlines for the win. Everyone should experience them. There is a reason why they consistently win the JD Powers customer service award. I have never had a bad flight with them and yes I do love their lounges, especially the new one in Seattle. Btw I do not work for them, I just think they excel at what they do.
Alaska is amazing.
There first class is nowhere first class. They suck!
@@andypettit5869 explain yourself.
@@alejandrokistinggarcia5822 when you pay 3 grand for first class, you would expect to have leg room, seats to go back a lot further than they did. There customer service was horrible. Never will I fly with Alaska airlines again. It was like business class at that with crappy service.
@@andypettit5869 dude, next time realize that a regional airline would almost never charge 3 grand for first class, only on the most expensive flights/options. Try them again. I’ve flown with them my whole life, and I’ve had not so great experiences, but most of the time they are amazing. It’s worth giving them another shot
I think Alaska is the best of the economy type airlines. I like the way they fit out their cabins. Both their 737 NG and A321’s are clean and reasonably roomy
Cheers
What about Hawaiian Airlines, non-widebody First Class service?
