    I've been in depth researching Laser Engravers for about 6 weeks. I had just made up my mind that the Atomstack A5 Pro 40w was going to be my choice... until I saw this review! I can see that for the projects I have in mind ~ the upgrade will be worth it! Your review was by far the most comprehensive and the "recipes" are a fantastic bonus. Although, I would've loved to know approximately how long 2 passes, 6 passes, etc. took in comparison to the A5. Still, I cannot thank you enough for making the decision so easy. Just don't tell my hubby about the extra cost! LOL

    (I chose to spend my time on your review because of the quality of your A5pro review.) 3 items: (1) Maybe I missed it but the achilles heel of the A5pro was the key/screw focusing system. I want to know about the improved focusing system. (2) The new fancy doodads on the controller are not needed if you run several types of machines from your computer. Handling the file on a tiny microSD seems superfluous. (I would immediately add an adapter to a bigger removable medium. 3D printers forums cover that. (3) 3rd party diode laser module manufacturers have various high power and quality options... something to investigate- though it's not a siple swap procedure. You need to modify the DC power and firmware conditions.

    • @Neo7CNC
      @Neo7CNC  Před 2 lety

      The focus on the X7 couldn't get much better outside of a rack and pinion adjust or leadscrew mechanism IMO. The X7 has a single knob with a screw that presses into the middle of the dovetail track on the back of the laser module and causes it to bind, effectively locking into position once set. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Bought the a5, ran it for a couple month then found its limitations. I really probably need co2 laser but this is "more portable" and cost effective at this point.
    The packaging is amazing. Ordered from china and it came in less than a week.
    I like the atomstack frame. It is very precise and hard to get out of square.
    The rollers on my a5 and x7 both are not properly smooth. Its minor and shouldnt effect operation though.
    Looked at the neje but with dual y servos.. I could see problems down the road.
    The 12mm plywood.. You were probably about maxed with the 9mm cut. If air assist was added.. Could probably get more. But also the laser at some point will loose power and start to disburse (out of focus) as it gets farther away on x axis.
    The extension kit is very nice. Just sucks you cant just buy the x7 already with it and save a bit of cash.
    The stop sensor cabling needs help. Hell the whole thing should have a drag chain. The stop sensor should also use a version with the metal spring tab. Prevent it from crashing into that tiny switch.
    On the handheld.. The surrounding cover keeps popping off. May have to super glue or hot glue it.

    Hey David, great video review as always, I was wondering about engraving on the thin stainless, could you possibly lay it on some kind of magnet to hold it in place and hold it down enough to help reduce or eliminate the warping? Since you're the King 👑 of this kind of testing I thought I'd run it pass you. I have this machine in my sights because I made the mistake of getting the comgro 10w and it's been nothing but a headache for me, I'm even on my second machine that they sent to replace the first one and now I'm currently waiting on a replacement laser head due to the one that came with it pooped out on me. Thanks for all your knowledge and videos, God bless you and your entire family and our entire CZcams family.

      Funny you mention that. I tried aluminum foil and it barely did anything to it. You could see what the laser hit but it would not cut or melt the foil. I believe the aluminum dissipates the heat too quickly, it's too good of a heat sink. Thanks for watching and for the comment.

    • @EZ_shop
      @EZ_shop Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Dave, I think my interest in the laser would be in marking metal (aluminum mostly) like engraving on an instrument panel, and perhaps cutting fiberglass, like producing a sheet of fiberglass or curbing fiber, then cutting components out of it for my fabrication needs (see my CZcams channel for what I’m into). I could make you some coupon samples to try your laser on if you’d like. Ciao, Marco.

    • @Neo7CNC
      @Neo7CNC  Před 2 lety

      @@EZ_shop I'd certainly try the coupons if you wanted to send some. If you're wanting to engrave the aluminum instrument panels and cut fiberglass then a traditional CNC would probably be the better tool.

    Quality 17 lines/mm
    Speed: 1000
    Intensity: 100%
    I hope you can help me, cheers from Argentina.

    • @Neo7CNC
      @Neo7CNC  Před 2 lety

      The stainless steel I'm marking is less than 1 mm thick. The key to this marking is to put focused heat into the stainless steel to cause the color change. If you're working with a thicker material, you'll need to slow the speed way down to have a better chance. Also make sure that what you have the stainless steel sitting on isn't acting like a big heatsink (like aluminum). That will quickly remove the heat that you're trying to put into the stainless steel. Let me know if you have better success. Try using something like wood behind the part you're trying to mark.

    The surface has a 30mm height deviation. Would it possible? If there is less detail at the "out of focus" area is not a problem but it may not burn through the third layer. thanks

    • @Neo7CNC
      @Neo7CNC  Před 2 lety

      Interesting question. My initial thought is that it wouldn't be possible. The only laser that I've tested that might possibly have a chance would be the Aufero Laser 1 with it's long focus laser head attached. That might give you enough reach, but it's only a guess. 30mm is a heavy deviation .

    WiFi- You said the company expects to release the WiFi capability around December 2021?
    On April 12, 2022, I contacted their customer support line about it and I was told they would NOT be coming out with the WiFi ability because they couldn't get it to work and had given up on it.
    This is bad news because I wanted to have the wifi feature for my work. Instead I now am considering the NEJE 3 series because they DO have WiFi, a series of Apps to run it on Apple and Android, Plus MOST important, their a40640 DUAL Laser output is around 11-12 watts Output. And I can get the MAX (1080x 410mm work area) for about $599, from the Neje store (in the USA -?).
    Compared to the test samples of the Atomstack X7/A10 by other CZcamsRS , the NEJE 3 A40640 LASER MODULE is a Much more powerful laser with a much Smaller size Beam than atomstacks' ! I hope you get to test the NEJE 3 series WITH THIS MODULE - I think you will see what I mean.
