    Kevin Michael Rudd is an Australian former Labor politician who was twice Prime Minister of Australia, from 2007 to 2010 and again in 2013.
    Having previously served as a diplomat, and then as an official for the Queensland Government, Rudd was initially elected to the House of Representatives for Griffith in 1998. He was promoted to the Shadow Cabinet in 2001 as Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs. In December 2006, he successfully challenged Kim Beazley to become the Leader of the Labor Party, subsequently becoming the Leader of the Opposition.
    Under Rudd, Labor overtook the incumbent Liberal/National Coalition led by John Howard in the polls, making a number of policy announcements on areas such as industrial relations, health, climate change, education (e.g. "Digital Education Revolution"), and the National Broadband Network.
    In this talk at the Oxford Union, Rudd talks about the shift in global power from the west to the east, diplomacy with North Korea, and why Donald Trump is so dangerous for not just the United States, but for political stability worldwide.
    ABOUT THE OXFORD UNION SOCIETY: The Oxford Union is the world's most prestigious debating society, with an unparalleled reputation for bringing international guests and speakers to Oxford. Since 1823, the Union has been promoting debate and discussion not just in Oxford University, but across the globe.

      +Goose Hill he does not suffer fools gladly, this is true. However, he complained about some staff who didn’t serve him well at all as an attendant for meals and got his order drastically wrong. He was working very hard and was mercilessly critical of the service provided. I’m sure there were other incidents, but I got the feeling he was ill with gallstones and probably in pain, subsequently getting his gallbladder removed. That may explain his cantankerous behaviour, which would understandable, even perhaps forgiveable.

      @Rormacful Před 6 lety +2

      Bouncybon, don't give too much credence to StylinRyder's comment. He wasn't ousted by his own party for 'being an idiot' it was actually due to his colleagues becoming increasingly frustrated by his avoidance of difficult decisions and a stagnation in setting up and going through with new policies. His intelligence and knowledge has never really been questioned, his suitability as a politician has though. Frankly he is much better off and more suited as the head of a think tank and as an academic than as Prime Minister.

    PM Rudd had No Quality Plan for Small Town Australia.
    I Still have Not Forgiven Him or Labor.

    I was surprised Rudd attacked Trump with absolutely no basis. I may have been cautious of Trumps election, but Donald Trump has done a magnificent job so far, unlike Bush, who destabilized the would during a time of peace. Trump may not hide behind popular, Eloquent lies but he's doing a Champion job, with media and liberals attacking him at every decision. I loved Rud as our leader but Maybe Rud should remember how the media attacked him with no basis. I wish we had a leader who loved their country as Trump does. The USA economy has steadily recovered under this Administration., despite the constant liberal attacks. You Americans should support your leader, who hasn't sold you out to Communist China, like our leaders have. Most notable leaders in Australia who helped Australia's Sovereignty, rather than hurt it was Gough Whitlam, Paul Keating and Kevin Rudd, I guess. Although Rudd did get too cozy with Chinese communism he didn't actively destroy (Strangle) our Industry like the opposition did.

    Europe did not invent and as a continent did not have slaves. Slavery was a big thing in the Middle East, and in Africa. It was then used by the Americans for some short period of time. Talking about slavery as a European thing is shockingly wrong from a lover of history. China is on the brink of exploding. The Chinese are going to have to slow down their economy and the debt intake. They have to focus on their infrastructure and they’ll have to export less. They are facing the challenges of a fast aging population. Their cities are so polluted that they have become nearly unliveable. What is this guy talking about ? China is a collection of different people. A war would be extremely problematic for China. And when was China last at war ? And before second WW ? This guy is full of shit. This is the most hollow speech at Oxford union ever.

That is the reason it has created International Infrastructure Bank and One Belt One Road scheme, so that it gives loans in kind to Pakistan, Turkey, Africa, and in future China will demand payments in Dollar money. .Both serves the purpose of China and every other countries get cheated.
