    Using the stinger in melee seems like a brilliant idea. They could do a quick flap upwards only enough to stab at the chest or even throat of an enemy would be deadly.
    I like your thoughts on the Vespid joining the greater good, no brain Washing needed. The Vespids are so similar on mindset that joining makes sense.

    I get the impression that the communion helm simply translates the Tau’s language very poetically/beautifully. Imagine if you used an ear piece and heard Germans speak in a way that would put Shakespeare to shame and have a golden voice that the world’s greatest singer’s voice in the world. It’d be a lot easier to persuade people to your cause, especially if your culture is already aligned to theres

    It seems to me that, via the Tau, we're actually getting an angle on a much more varied and interesting 40K 'verse. i Know a lot of folk decry them as being, well, not very 40K 9at least on the surface) but ... the imperium has a million worlds, canonically the 40k galaxy has a hundred billion star systems. There's a lot of room, between the (I assume massive) gaps in the imperium, and around it's edges, in which a whole other show is taking place. And the only insight we get into it seems to be via the Tau. can we have some more factions that believe in assimilation over extermination, please? As any Trekkie will tell you, that doesn't mean they have to be at all nice...

    I think it's fairly likely both 40k and Star Wars drew inspiration from Starship Troopers' Arachnids(the book, not the movie, in the book they are actually highly intelligent and make use of highly unique technology) and/or the Formics from the Ender's Series.

    The tau have a bunch of neat races within their empire that they could be insanely versatile. Each race has lore that could be used to make really badass units for the tabletop. Units which could easily make up for their regular weaknesses.
    The vespid are ideal Ariel fighters plus the females being larger could be more tanky well th males could be faster.
    The kroots hyper evolving ability give them any edge needed in battle.
    Theres dinosaur and cat people. Hell they have telepath humanoid polar bear allies that could be badass.
    The games creator use the lore advance the tau.

    Well concurning the tabletop vespids arent to horrible. i sadly dont own them but I would for sure use them . They are great for attacks on the flanks especialy against high priority infrantry targets like special weapons teams.
    The sad thing is they are not very tanky they die pretty easy so the only way to protect them is to have a bigger threat near by

    I wonder when someone will realize that the Vespids probably outnumber the Kroot and the Tau combined. (They only have one system though?) Nope. Their homeworld is a gas giant where they live on floating islands. Research Jupiter and Saturn and it means the combined potential surface area for living space of the Vespid homeworld probably exceeds the combined septs of the tau empire and the Kroot, seeing as Pech was decimated by Orks. They are also insectoid, which means by nature their ability to procreate is going to be exponentially higher than mammalian, avian, and lizard species; second only to amphibians...possibly. In fact, it's a wonder why the Vespid aren't more prevalent in the Tau Empire considering their nature and homeworld starting population.

    #QUESTION : Isn't the 'Strong Machine Spirit" contained in some Imperium tecnology (Titans, Knights, SM Centurion Armor) just a borderline "Man of iron age" AI that the mecanicus couldn't remove when reengeniering STC into practice? It leaves to interpretation that the machine spirit of tecnology described as possessing a "strong willed machine spirit" has an actual AI not fully understood by the mecanicum, leaving users at the mercy of a "wild" AI trying to control the equipment while the pilot has to overide it manually through sheer power of will.

    • @farkasabel
      @farkasabel Před 6 lety

      The machine spirit is not an ai. It is more like an advanced user interface. It's main function to translate the commands given by human mind. It is a very dumbed down version of the a.i. as without a human pilot it cant function and it seems it is not compatible with space marine mind.

      I thought they were totally extragalactic and had nothing to do with any of the xenos we know.

    • @NetMoverSitan
      @NetMoverSitan Před 5 lety +1

      It's hinted that they were made as a "firebreaker" drawing the Necrons and their C'tan overlords away from their worlds as the Tyranids avoided Necron worlds as that would provide the life that the C'tan wanted...they were drawn in due to a conflict with the Pharos involving the Ultrasmurfs and the Night Lords, the Pharos was likely of Old Ones origin.

    GW did copy from star wars, but star wars was too generic anyway.

    Is socialism inherently authoritarian ?

    • @ElvishShellfish
      @ElvishShellfish Před 3 lety

      The centralized nature of socialism lends itself to eventual authoritarianism, though it’s not inevitable. It takes maintaining robust democratic institutions to oversee and constrain the socialist economic institutions. It’s hard though. If we can figure out how to do socialism in a more decentralized democratic manner, it can probably be less authoritarian.
      Of course most economies are mixed, with some sectors, like healthcare, being socialist and others market controlled. Even Cuba has a portion of its economy controlled by markets.
      My local Etheral Aun’O’Sha’Sho says socialism is never negative though, since it’s all for THE GREATER GOOD.

  • @alientomato561
    @alientomato561 Před 6 lety

    Cool race with a cool lore. Except for their home planet part. Seems like the writer of that is not really well informed cause nothing, absolutely nothing can survive living on a frikin gas giant. They are failed stars with no actual surface. Just lots of liquid and gases all the way through. And the gravity is so immense that whatever comes near (i don't remember how many kilometers exactly) is irreversibly pulled into orbit and crushed. Doesn't matter what kind of material you use, like super metal or whatever. Not a chance cause it's not about that. Whatever material will be ground down to base molecules. XD maybe, and that's a big maybe there could be some microorganisms of some sort, but anything larger than a bacteria is a no no. Though it's irrelevant of course, 40k is not really Science Fiction, but rather science fantasy so yap, all good.

    • @olenickel6013
      @olenickel6013 Před 6 lety +3

      You seem to have only some vague ideas on what conditions on gas planets are. The "floating islands" part is obviously rather over the top, but actual scientists have speculated on life forms existing on gas giants. Even on Jupiter the gravity isn't as punishingly high as you describe that anything on it would be sucked down towards the core (in fact, this is more the consequence of convection with air currents sucking the outer athmosphere closer to the core - doesn't have to be this way on all gas giants) and you could even fly a plane in the upper levels of the athmosphere (though there are nicer gas giants for that with less horrible amounts of superfast giant storms - like Uranus or Neptune)

    • @alientomato561

      Just watched a documantary on Gas Giants. It seems like there was a lot i didn't know XD I get so full of myself sometimes. Tnx for a motivating comment. Cheers PS: They are not failed stars, just very succesful planets!

    • @bijanajamlou5152
      @bijanajamlou5152 Před 5 lety +2

      Rality always trumps fiction. A gas planet could be less massive than the ones in our solar system. I would not be surprised if something like this exist. But the reason for the planet being as it is could be artificial. One could take a existing planet and layer by layer build new artificial levels on top of the ground in order to create more living space and end up with a planet is layered like an onion and 2 times the volume. This could be built with a living bio tech that leave gases and crystal behind. So after billion of years it looks like natural phenomena...
