  • Happy New Year. Another year gone and here we are starting a new one........... Let's love each other more!
I didn't realise that I had never done a video on how to make Battenberg Soap. After many requests, here it is.
Please make sure you take all the necessary precautions, when making soap. You will find them in a google search.
    RECIPE USED
WITH RECIPE:- A nice simple easy to use fool-proof recipe, that does not stick to your moulds, (ONE THAT I USED OFTEN) :- This recipe will make HALF the quantity amount I have in this video. Recipe as follows:-
1050 grams x Solid Coconut Oil
870 grams x Sustainable Solid Palm Oil
    750 grams x Sunflower/Canola Oil
850 grams x Olive Oil (I use Extra Virgin, but you can use any)
    175 grams x Castor Oil
    125 grams Shea Butter
    6% SUPERFAT
Water x 800grams (increase your water if you prefer, FULL WATER is 1260.60g )
Lye x 532.82 (you can round it up to 532g)
    (ALWAYS add Lye to water)
Any marzipan type fragrance will work for this soap.
    Usage at 1oz per kilo
Use this recipe to make the yellow and pink insert colours.
Leave overnight, un-mold, then cut as per video.
You will then need to make another full batch, to use to pour the cream colour that surrounds the pink and yellow inserts.
Note: you will have some batter left over after making the 3 loafs, use these left overs for anything you wish, such as embeds or piping decorations.
Any questions, go through my website.

I guess it could be considered a compliment when someone copies your work I am also a soaper for 25 years and I have had people copy some of my soaps down to the name, fragrance and packaging! I always have thousands of ideas in my head and I'm always ready to forge ahead leaving the copycats in the dust. lol

I got into soapmaking because of the science and art of it. This is why I absolutely love your creations. They're unique and original because you're a true artist. I just love seeing what you've created.

Katy at RS mentioned she preferred the old liners due to the thicker new ones reduced her bar count. Thank you for making videos. Your a joy to watch.

Yep. I am a soap maker myself and have been doing this since 2008 and you are very right. You are the first person that I ever saw make beautiful, pipped designs with cold process soap. In fact, I remeber seeing one of the first videos from one of the more popular You Tube soapers and they mentioned that they were trying to make soaps like yours and had reached out to you for help.

I tried it with Melt and Pour soap and it looks fantastic. Thank you for the idea:) Everyone loves it and think it looks like a piece of art that hangs in the museum in New York:) Not to worry as I have told everyone where I got the idea. Thank you for the inspiration:) Kim

I'm a new subscriber, recommended by Katie at Royalty Soaps. She was talking about your soaps being copied and sold with the same names and designs. She's disgusted by the abuse of your talent and can't understand how anyone can look themselves in the mirror and be proud of their achievements when they have stolen everything. You are one of Katie's soaping role models and she truly respects you and your work. I obviously had to follow up on her glowing review and I am very happy I did so. This is a beautiful soap. Best wishes from Sydney Australia.

I like this one it reminds me of the soft yogurt chew candies and the Mackinaw fudge we use to make as a child.

If you add a small bit of wood to the front bottom edge of your cutter, it wont keep sliding away from you as you are cutting. Just a thought.😀 love the idea of little battenburg soaps. I did what looked like small chocolate truffles and had them on a fancy plate to show a friend. My 30 year old daughter came in and spoted them and was just on the verge of sneeking one into her mouth! I scared her silly when I screamed NO, just in the nick of time!! Lesson learned for me, as well as for her!

Making of this soap is raw pain in the ass. So glad you find it therapeutic. The colour pallette is something else, sooo gorgeous. Just look at that creamy white colour, sooo delightful. This is pure craft! And you lady are energetic and pretty strong. I wish you more success.

Good morning Karen! I love this soap...what an awesome "original" design! ; ) The soft pink and yellow look so pretty together. It's such a shame how people can steal designs and try to claim them as their own. Riding the coat tails of other successful soapers etc for purpose of gain, just shows the world what kind of person they really are. I have followed you for YEARS and the love of your craft shows through in all your products. Plus your a total sweetheart!! <3 Look forward to seeing what's coming for 2019!! Big ((Hugs)) and Love from Texas!! xoxo : )

Karen you have a beautiful soul the least anyone with a common sense ( a flower that does not grow in all gardens ) could do is give respect to the soap maker that they are inspired by

We can not change others all we can do is control ourselves for every action is a reaction 😉 so love and kindness is always the way ❤️ 💗.

I am new getting into this but I'm very excited and I am a 3 Rd generation greenhouse grower and I do understand people copy us all the time we do landscaping too people always take our design 😁 but I grow all of my herbs chemical free so I thought this would be something nice to add to my greenhouse that I will enjoy and do for myself as well.

I love this soap so much I picked up the cake molds from your UK mold supplier that you shared with us a year or so ago. I cannot wait to make bubble bars with this design. Your soap design is amazing BTW. The cake is also one of my favorites with all that Marzipan. Lovely! xoxJen
