Wow ! For anyone who doesn't know who Grace Slick is, look up Jefferson Airplane, Woodstock 69, and White Rabbit. Now doing backup to someone else. How did that happen.
Grace Slick --- probably the toughest dame ever in rock n roll --- having the absolute time of her life singing back-up to Ronnie Spector! FANTASTIC!!! And the amazing Clarence Clemons!
What an amazing performance! It's the one time I've seen Grace Slick smile. The way she and Belinda Carlisle were leaning into each other was so cute, Ronnie was in top form, and Clarence Clemmons on Sax--WOW!
Two amazing performers - Ronnie Spector and Clarence Clemons - to be affectionately remembered. Rest in Peace. You gave us so much joy in your music and performances. Thank you.
My favorite version of this song. Ronnie is spectacular as always. The Ronettes are superb. Clarence Clemons on the sax is mesmerizing. The joy and passion in this performance are uplifting
If this mean old world's got you down, just remember you were around to listen to Ronnie Spector backed by Belinda, Grace, and the Big Man . What an uplifting performance.
Rest In Peace Ronnie. When Ronnie passed away a part of my past went with her. When I hear her sing I’m 14 years old again in the sixties. She was beautiful inside and out. 😔💜
What a spectacular show with the "new Ronettes) Belinda Carlisle & Grace Slick, singing with Ronnie and Clarence Clemmons on Sax. Great song with tender memories. I loved Ronnie's voice.
Ronnie Spector (nee' Bennett), Belinda Carlisle & Grace Slick - doesn't get any better & this, perhaps the greatest song of the era still sounds fresh ! (And brings a lump to my throat !).
I think Ronnie was about 45 when this was recorded and she is mid 70's now. If you want to reminisce with feel good videos, stay with this one. Later performances show her age and significant weight gain. She is still a prime personality in NYC and a philanthropist. Good people!
I fell in love with her Ronnie Bennett and The Ronettes many years ago she is absolutely beautiful and a wonderful singer God bless you for all the wonderful years a being a great singer.. 10/25/2019 DOOWOPFOREVER !!

Singer Ronnie Spector was born Veronica Bennett in New York City on August 10, 1943. She grew up in Spanish Harlem with her mother, father and older sister, Estelle. The daughter of an Irish father and a mother of African-American and Cherokee descent, Spector struggled as a child to reconcile both sides of her mixed ethnic heritage, a rarity for the time period. Her father, Louis, left the family when Spector and her sister were still very young. Eventually, her exotic features, distinct voice and striking beauty would later prove to be a boon for her music career
I'm with you. This song is my favorite. No matter how low I feel, if I pull out my Ronettes' 45 of Be My Baby and pop it on the record player, I feel better.

Ronnie was my teenage "heartthrob"! She still is! "Be My Baby" has to be one of the best 60's Rock and Roll songs ever. I used to sing it to my babies as I bounced them on my knee!
@Mid-day_ Light And yet she escaped from it and rose above it. (With help from her mother...or so the story goes.) His "contribution" to this was that he did write Be My Baby. In spite of the fact that it was a huge hit for her (and rightly so), I would think it would be difficult for her to perform it because of the song's connection to him. If it was, it sure does not show in this video from 1986.
@@stevehazzard3120 .....Yes, you are correct. Phil Spector was a fantabulous creator of sound, music and talent, however he was a head case throughout all of his creations. He was a genius in his own right. Ronnie suffered such mental, emotional and physical abuse. Any woman they came in close contact with him suffered at his hands. Then he blatantly shot and murdered an innocent actress. His own mental genius destroyed himself and everyone around him. What a waste.
Love it! Interestingly, Ronnie and Keith Richards had a thing going on in the early years. He'd even stay at her mum's place where she lived. Kept it pretty much under the radar, but when they're seen together in later years, the affection is clear.
WOW! What a thrill it would have been to see these performers live. It must have been a great night to be there with these Superstars of R&R in their era.
