LOVE it! I made a drop waist skirt in cotton voile and have enough to do this. Better than I white or other color tank top. What I also like is that it is feminine without being too girly.

It might be from your cutting
If you follow this process well the result will be fine
You probably did not add enough allowance for shrinkage
