    To everyone asking- no it doesn't need to be indoors. You can play on any large flat space if it is either very overcast, or at night with artificial lighting. Parking lots, lawns, fields etc. work very well. Just be safe. If the area has the potential for dynamic obstructions make sure you have someone without a headset on to keep an eye out.

      @@marklola12 Kind of a silly argument tbh. It's like people asking for a non-VR version of Half-Life Alyx. Sure. You could do it. But why? That's not what it was designed for. Same deal for this. Some people don't have a 10m by 10m play space... Some people don't have a VR headset... No developer wants to water down their game to accommodate for what the end-user lacks. They expect you to either find some solution, like going to a park, gym, or tennis court, or if you can't even do that, then this experience isn't for you. Move on and play something else. Lots and lots and lots of people do not live in 200sqft condos in downtown vancouver. Lots of people have the means and resources to find a flat 10m by 10m play area.

    • @BrandoDrum
      @BrandoDrum Před 3 lety +2

      @@marklola12 that's true, but soon that won't matter as much as we get some Augmented Reality games using passthrough. No guardian needed. Just play a home defense game with a buddy where the oculus recognizes your furniture, windows and doors and has zombies or aliens crawl in from under the bed or in a window for you to shoot.

    • @BrandoDrum
      @BrandoDrum Před 3 lety +1

      @@cariboudjan3576 Eh, no developers always have to develop for what people actually have to maximize the market potential. Like, they might develop a game on super computers but they gotta tone down and optimize the graphics to fit cross-platform. Anyway, soon the oculus should be seeing some AR games using passthrough and no guardian at all. So imagine turining your whole house into an arena and all the furniture, windows and doors automatically get used in the game to have zombies bust or crawl through. Stuff like that should happen with the new passthrough AR API facebook released.

    Great video Mike!
    This is the best breakdown of SPT DX out there!
    I sent this to my neighbours who are contemplating getting a Quest and it got them well stoked!!
    Update. So we played it. Against bots. It rocks! We took some some beers with us and took turns. It doesn't take much imagination to figure this out. I can't believe all the negative comments regarding the 10 x 10 m play space.
    There is a green area just a few hundred meters from where we live. Fortunately it is shaded by trees on the westerly side so we could play before the sun went down. There are street lamps that enabled play for a bit longer before it got too dark. We got two decent hours in and it got us planning the next session and my friends planning their own Quest purchase!
    If you can't find somewhere to play this, don't buy it. There are loads more great games you can try.
    All the best, Rich in Sweden!

    Main problem that would prevent this becoming mainstream is the space requirements. The required playspace is larger than my living room.

    Glad to see you are doing better! what type of headset strap are you using for the quest 2 so you can tilt it without taking it off?

  • @sociallyresponsiblexenomor7608

    Can you play moving with the stick? I mean that would make it playable for anyone.......

    Glad to see your recovering Mike. Do you think they will allow custom sizing in the future for spaces that are slightly smaller than the 10m?

      Technically if you map out the 10x10m you should be able to create a custom map SMALLER... and just block off where you can't go...
