- This clip has a little more footage than the others currently posted. The beginning is a jumbled cacophony of voices, but from what I understand, the chubby, mustachioed presenter had played a video of a member of the Angelic Upstarts issuing some critical words about John Lydon. John didn't particularly appreciate this, so he starts to get a little upset. Enjoy.

Ive read the transcript of the full interview and the guys were definitely set up by this program, its like John said they thought they were there to just play one of their songs and do a straight interview but the program had other ideas and played footage (which you see the end of) of another guy basically slandering them and that's when the interviewer asks them for their response and John has enough cos he realises it's a set up to make them look bad. Hence the reaction, which is entirely justified.

The great thing about this is it shows the heirarchy in such bands. "I got the point", says Wobble. "That guy who you reckon is primed" says Kevin Keegan Geordie tit presenter - to whit Wobble says: "Tell 'im, John. You open your mouth and tell 'IM!"

I read about this interview in a book about Public Image Ltd almost 20 years before I finally SAW it... I have been a hard core Pistols fan for all that time and though often especially when I was younger I found John's manner defiant as I grow older I have increasingly found him just arrogant, silly, rude and naive (though in recent years especially after having seen him play with PIL for the first time in June 2010..I am revising my opinions.)

and actually, in recent years certain bands have latched on to the idea of sharp and how not to be an instigator of racism at gigs - but back i the day, certain bands courted skin heads, along with their nazi leaflet distributers, probably mainly because it meant bums on seats - or rather boots on the dance floor
sham 69 spilt up partly because of all the violence at their shows - but the upstarts and the rejects etc etc - well they said nout did they - and that says it all for me
and it`s like rotten said - an abortion - one and all of them - and how true
the upstarts were a fucking brilliant band - i saw them at the rainbow around 1981 along with many others - and the nazi boot boys were there in force, as usual

I find it funny all the people criticising the interviewer. Lydon is smart and knew exactly what he was doing. He would have known what the questions would be about......but he got a bit of publicity for a walk out. He didn’t need to agree to the interview in the first place. It’s funny how so many people want to idolise someone for basically being a rude prick.

I saw Lydon in a recent interview and he said he doesn't regret anything he has done in the past. I don't believe him. Surely he can't watch this today and not feel a little bit embarrassed. Especially at 1:15 and the next ten seconds that follow. Surely that 10 seconds of footage makes him cringe a bit. I know its John Lydon and he doesn't care what people think but that 10 seconds is like a 12 year old kid trying to act tough in front of his school friends.
It’s not Cringy and I’m sure he doesn’t regret it. They literally set them up in the interview making them think they were just gonna play a song and talk about PIL but they were being terrible and when John caught on he did what he had to. He’s outspoken but he’s not unreasonable
