La Canalla is special right down to the beginning. Formed by five practicing Andalusians and a distinctly Cádiz soul, the group was created circumstantially back in 2009 in Barcelona, in a home of exiled musicians who called themselves the 'Albergue', which was converted without wanting and out of love at the point of meeting and stopping of more musicians, friends, artists, parties and music nights, in which an idea was maturing, giving body and soul to a new way of understanding our most popular folklore, joining it with those from there and beyond, with the goal of updating and revitalizing it.
Thus was born La Canalla, a group that has its own names, namely: Antonio Romera ‘Chipi’, an essential lyricist and a crooner of the next century; the keys are run by Don Javier Galiana, pure free style, who wears the songs, arranges them, takes them out to dance; the winds blow by Julián Sánchez, airs that simply make you fly…; the drums in the subtle hands of José Benítez and the laborious double bass of José López not only set the rhythm but also break it down, hurt the songs underneath, so that they hurt more.
