Not only a great singer but an excellent musician too. Very good sense of pitch, and great dynamics. Plus her tone is pleasant, even at high volume. Her classical voice training might have something to do with it too. Rather underrated in my opinion.

@erik johansen Actually with excellent training, once you have practiced technique to the point where it has become part of your muscle memory, you can focus more on being in the moment.
I won't deny that singing on the level of some of the best, requires the physicality and stamina of an athlete.
While it isn't like getting up from a chair. Practice and daily vocal exercises facilitates performance much in the way of an athlete training before the game. If you do the prep work, singing with control, is that much easier.

She can open her mouth any time, anywhere (so without warm-up) no matter the acoustics of the place or the equipment and it's almost studio quality. Perhaps that's required level for the best of the best, but even among them, she seems very consistent.
A true vocal athlete is always in training.
How right you are! Over 20 years ago, on a beautiful beach in Jamaica, she sang Caruso for me. I did not know who she was then. We shared a ride to the hotel and bonded over our love of music, classical literature and all things Italy. Her voice exuded such controlled power and emotion that i sat there absolutely dumbfounded and speechless. I'll never forget that moment.

Aucune émotion puisque tout est plat car horriblement trop juste .
Plus de vrai vibrato ( un semblant de vibrato , mais ...qui ne vibre pas ! ) , plus de blues notes , moins de résonnances ( les ondes qui résonnent mais pas assez justes sont écrasées ) , plus de dissonances voulues , bref plus de vivant tout simplement .
I feel her voice got a special part like Babra Streisand has. So amazing. Mix with her natural powerful beautiful massful pitch of voice. She is just a unique gorgeous woman.
Not only is she a great singer, she’s also a fantastic storyteller. I’ve lost count on how many times I cried watching her performance. I get all the feels even though I can’t understand the lyrics.
Lara Fabian is better then Celine Dion, because The French are in second place in the world in terms of vocal skill, Americans are in penultimate place. (p.s. Americans and African-Americans are two completely different nations)!
The Lara tribute to Mariah Carey's "Vision of Love" sealed it for me. The respect and just love of music shone through. Wish they could have sung together.

Lara Fabian seems to be a very nice and easy going person. During the Voice France in 2020, she asked to turn down the unfair rule about not having their seats turned while a singer didn't make it by not being qualified during the first auditions. Amazing vocals and an amazing personality !

There’s a category called world class vocalists and Lara is one of them. Idolized by Dimash and admired by the greatest musicians and producers on earth, Lara is far better than “really good” 🙂

Discovered Lara by accident a couple of years ago, her talent and beauty seems to increase everytime I listen to her. So fortunate, I would put her in the top three female vocalists that I have ever heard.
She was a "surprise" act in the belgian Night of the Proms more than a decade ago. When they announced her she got a lukewarm response (me and the wife included, unfortunately). Then she killed it with a cover of "I will always love you" with a deserved standing ovation AND the biggest applause at the curtain call.
So that's how she took over the world. Even the angels in heaven weep with love. Amazing singer.😊

I remember seeing her on what I think was the academy awards or Emys and she just stood up from the audience and delivered a song like very few people could, a voice to rival Celine Dion etc. It was simply amazing and I don't think the audience knew what had hit them.
She’s never performed at the academy awards nor at the Emmys. You’re probably talking about the Juno awards or the World music awards. But yes, her voice is a once in a lifetime voice.

For the last of 1998 (at 11:35), i'm just ... stunned (the most stunning I think)
. As a french one, fan of french variety, and so really know Lara's songs for a while, I know her vocal skills.
But being able to sing with this strength, with this precision, with this sound pitch, with this sweetness, BEING
- sitting down
- WITHOUT SOUND RETURN (as we can see when she controls by herself her voice accuracy by finger/ear at 11:50)
- with her LEGS CROSSED (it let less stomach space)
- possessed by her own song
AND she makes it looking so easy.
Even if I know Lara, and her skill, this one, 24 years later, is ... ... ... just no-credible if I couldn't see it.
And yes. She is the greatest female performer, maybe ever. Even Ginette Reno wasn't so powerfull, Celine Dion doesn't have this unpretentiousness but making easy all of sang sings, Hélène Ségara doesn't make it looking so easy, etc.
She has everything a french/francophone variety could dream about, being able to sing everything everyway she wants, powerfull or soft.
Unpretentiousness is just a feature of character not a quality of singing. If you already compare her to Celine, point at least some more factors in her talent, voice pitches, songs, interpretations, etc. which make her so called "worse".
