Emmet was the most endearing good soul in the film. Wish he had more screen time.
"Ain't it peculiar how money seems to do that very thing?" - yes...yes it is.
That’s my favorite line from this movie. Because it’s so true!
Jesus threw the merchants out of the temple. Now? It's all the capitalist reboot of Christ.
I love that barn and his room..its so peaceful and simple ..def gonna build a replica one day
Will you rent it out for a hundred dollars a month?
I live in Missouri. Let's go find the spot and get it built!!!
And if Brad shows up we'll take care of him first.....no interruptions.
💯💯💯💯💯
Never seen the remake. This the OG.
I don't remember this scene, as I had seen Road House a few times years ago...gotta say - really well acted by both.
The first time I ever saw any part of this movie was an airing on Spike TV back in the fall of 2003, and it wasn’t until a subsequent viewing on a movie channel or something that I noticed that they skipped over small things like his testing the headlights on the Riviera, or that the Spike TV broadcast was in full screen instead of the original widescreen
Funny, I always remembered that old timer striking Patrick Swayze in the temple with that bailing hook.
WOW!! Just think $100.00 a month that's something you Don't see ANYMORE!! and the place is beautiful!!!!
$100 bucks gets you a tank of gas and a fast food meal now.
@@jB-uw8fiThat hurts because it's true!
I do a LOT of running at my work for doctors, nurses, and patients (I'm a CNA and ER Tech, but I mostly work in surgical services). Whenever someone calls me "sir", I instantly bust out the comparison to elevators in outhouses.
Yeah, Emmett was a really cool character and I like how he was portrayed by Mister Parker. He was great!
RIP to the big guy. He will be missed.
I miss the 80’s.
So did the movie. While technically still in the 80s, it came out in tail end of them.
Yep, so do I.
I remember that scene and definitely remember that car
Me too. Buick Riviera?
Finally watched this movie today and it did not disappoint! Definitely without a doubt fantastic acting by the entire ensemble and the soundtrack was fantastic too! ❤❤❤❤
How many came here after watching the remake? I like Jake Gyllenhaal, but this remake is soooo poor compared to the original. Not Jakes fault, but the remake was an answer to a question nobody asked. SMH......👎👎
Jake is a fine actor. He was given a terrible script.
The new movie is pretty good on its own. It's just not Road House. No charm like the original.
My favorite line was "Calling me Sir... it's like putting an elevator in an out house...it don't belong.
there's so much brilliant poetry in country language
Emmett needed his own movie.
"You like horses do ya?" "If they like me" 🐴 💀
Back to the top 80's *** western Australia 🇦🇺
Emmett looks very similar to the old man in my host family in Kansas back in 1989-90.
Looks like Uncle's lumbago has gotten better
I miss him....
This is what the old timers call, "One of the good old boys."
That barn apartment was cool.
That's a awesome movie,
That was a really nice room.. You can buy a fan to get some air; and $100 a month is nothing..
All it needs is a restroom for showering and relieving yourself when necessary
Might not seem like it; but Emmet is the backbone of his country.
If this movie was made in 2024, he would have told him the room was $1200 a month.
They did remake this movie recently…
@@jusbeazy28 well aware, but I'm talking about the OG movie and this scene
I was just thinking to myself, it would be a criminal act for anyone to try and redo this movie
Hollywood: 😈😈
Anyone know the song at the start of this video when he’s driving to the barn?
$100 a month, when can i move in?😂
RENT $25 A WEEK OH HOW TIMES HAVE CHANGED!!!...
Sure it's a lot of people wished their rent was $100 a month
$100 month 🙈
ROADHOUSE
This was the only scene where I didn't like Dalton.
He's getting $5,000 up front, paid $500 a night in cash (what do we want to bet he's not going to be declaring all this income on his tax forms?), his medical expenses are all covered, and when he's asked (honestly) by Emmett if he can afford $100 a *month* , he doesn't say "Of course! In fact, I can afford more than that, don't rent it to me for less than market value." In fact, he makes it sound like he's doing him a *favor*
Considering the whole conflict of this movie is "Brad Wesley the rich dude is exploiting the poor folks of this town", Dalton is hardly coming across some man of the people here considering he covers his yearly rent in a weekend.
The film industry today has lost the creativity it once had. Back 40-50 years ago, the industry could do a remake but add a twist. They could change a simple comedy to a musical comedy just on imaginative writing. Creative imagination, as well as good acting, has lost to lazy remakes and mediocre acting. The remakes aren't worth my time or my waste of money.
Never knew this movie existed until I saw all the boomers complaining online about the new one.
I'm GenX and judging by the new previews, I have no interest in seeing the new one. Doesn't even look like the same story. Classics stay classics for a reason I suppose.
I'm a millennial, sport, and I thought the remake for Jake was unnecessary and doomed to fail.
Keep on assuming a certain audience is griping about it, you insipid dullard.
