    I've watched quite a few of these Vuitton cleaning videos and for a while I thought, ok, this video is the same. Not necessarily a bad thing because at least these techniques are working for everyone. When she did the whole bit about the thickness of the canvas, I was shook! You go girl! So many influencers out there saying it's thinner and Geneva Jo hits 'em with SCIENCE!!💥 Great video!

    Looks so pretty! Great tips. I have had great luck using those jewelry cleaning cloths on the brass parts of bags. No mess on the leather, and they work so fast.

    • @jlnriddick
      @jlnriddick Před 4 lety +2

      That sounds exciting to me! Do the cleaning cloths work well if there's darkened residue on the brass already? I have a bag coming in that will likely need cleaning, and if the cloth works well w/o a solution, that just sounds like less risk to the leather. Either way, I'll give it a try! Glad I read your comment!

    • @discod

    I wrote a comment about 2 weeks ago, and you were kind enough to reply! The vintage bag I purchased was actually almost in pristine condition (leather wise), so I didn't really need your tips and tricks for that one, but I've since received a vintage Speedy 25 (1993) that needs help on the handles and brass. Came back to listen again, and was blown away for a second time at how clean you got your handles. It's just amazing! The second time I used my zipper pull (on this new 25), it pulled right off, but oddly enough, I'm not a fan of them anyway... just wasn't expecting that at all! I used an exacto knife to get rid of the torn leather, and polished up the zipper tab beautifully! I forgot to wet the cloth before adding the saddle soap to the leather (dummy), so I'm headed back for several more rounds! Hoping the handles eventually look like yours! Thanks again for all the information! Great video!

      I have shoulder injuries and must go to smaller, lighter bags, so I have to decide what bags must go. While I love the bag, I never carry it because it is simply not my style. It's pretty as art but clashes with my birkenstocks! LOL So, I am going to try to put it up for sale somewhere, facebook or IG tomorrow. It is one of many bags that I have chosen to get rid of to make way for some small, tiny, light boo hoo I love my larger bags but they just kill me! I don't want to clean my lux bag closet out ...but alas..it's a must. I am a nurse in my 50s and man my shoulders have aged fast!

    • @JoleeSO
      @JoleeSO  Před 4 lety

      I don't think that there is much that you can do. Vachetta once dark, doesn't relighted, unless it ix water that darkened it. If you put a leather conditioner on light vachetta and it turned it..I think that is the color now. The bag that I cleaned and conditioned was already very dark, I prefer clean to light and dirty.

    • @JoleeSO
      @JoleeSO  Před 4 lety +1

      I can't compare, I have to say that the leather that I have used it on is already dark. I did use resolene on Vachetta, and it doesn't darken it, but I don't suggest it. I do it for forever bags that I don't want stained up. It seals the leather. LV traditionalist hate that and don't want the leather sealed.

      There are many leather products. I am typing this from bed right now, but..look up leather experts on you tube ( usually some dude testing products on raw leather ) to see what products work the best. Since it’s vintage you’ll want to condition it first! That way it helps protect from cracking. Now, I am not telling you to do this ( disclaimer in case you mess up your bag ) what I would do after conditioning is use a more waxy conditioner like a shoe protectant like doc Martin sells for old docs. Then after that I would seal it with resolene. But that’s just me. 😛

  • @hoosierjen96
    @hoosierjen96 Před 5 lety +1

    Did you use any sort of rain guard on this bag after cleaning it?

    • @JoleeSO
      @JoleeSO  Před 5 lety

      I now use Resolene on my bags. I have a speedy 25 bandouliere that I treated with it, and it got splashed by a water cooler last week at work. I was sad looking at all of those dark water spots all over it, an hour later...all gone. So, even though I did it a couple of years ago, it is still sealed. I can't recommend it it because it's a huge step and does seal the leather, but many say that it "ruins" bag. I haven't found that to be true. However, it has only been a couple of years. I can't tell you whether or not it shortens to life of the vachetta. For me, I would rather it look clean. It does continue to patina. So it is getting darker but not dirty looking. ew!

    • @JoleeSO
      @JoleeSO  Před 5 lety

      I learned to use the resolene, by watching a leather guy treat several different pieces of vachetta in a youtube video. One drawback, it reduces the "leather smell" because it is sealed.

    • @JoleeSO
      @JoleeSO  Před 5 lety +1
