- Studying a PhD in the Faculty of Arts
Abigail is studying an under-researched subject where she is one of only a handful students in the UK working on the topic. Her subject is popular Swedish music, and in particular ABBA.
She talks about how it’s possible to tie your fascination of a subject to an academic passion, which you can then grow into an academic career. She also discusses how to decide upon a research topic, what it’s like to study for a PhD, funding her research and the impact it may have.
Chapters:
• ABBA as a research topic 0:37
• Advice for people considering a PhD application 1:17
• What does the day of a PhD researcher look like? 2:23
• PhD funding and PhD scholarships 4:00
• Teaching experience for researchers 4:56
• Speaking at conferences 6:06
