- Tiny home, big dreams.
The most popular video on my channel was about a project I technically never completed: a tiny house on our farm in Seattle. Derailed by life's circumstances, I revisit this project to FINALLY complete the tiny house I started with April Wilkerson 4 years ago for my mom.

MORE ABOUT ME
I'm Anne of All Trades. In NASHVILLE, I have a woodworking, blacksmithing and fabrication shop, a selection of furry friends, and an organic farm. Whether you've got the knowledge, tools, time or space to do the things you've always wanted to do, everything is "figureoutable."
I became "Anne of All Trades" out of necessity. With no background in farming or making things, I wanted to learn to raise my own food, fix things when they break and build the things I need.
8 years ago I got my first pet, planted my first seed and picked up my first tool.
My goal is to learn and share traditional techniques and skills while showing my peers how to get from where they are to where they want to go, how to do the things they are passionate about, and what can be done TODAY to engage their own community and grow deep roots.
Whether it's carving spoons, making my own hand tools, restoring my antique truck or growing heirloom tomatoes, the farm and workshop definitely keep me busy and support - whether financially through Patreon, through shopping my affiliate links, through buying merchandise, plans or project videos, or even just liking, commenting, and sharing my content with others helps me GREATLY to keep producing quality content to share.

Hang in there Anne. During the peak of Covid, (before vaccinations were available) our dishwasher died. With supply chain issues, we got the Hobson choice which was more than we wanted to spend. However install folks were booked out two months. It arrived a week later, during which time my then 9 year old broke her arm. Between dealing with the arm, we installed the dishwasher ourselves. No leaks under the sink. I ran a few quick loads to make sure no leaks. All looked good. When I came in during the morning, I noticed water squishing up between the vinyl flooring. What we didn't check for leaks was the water line that went into the back of the dishwasher. For 12 hours it leaked significantly and we had wet kitchen flooring and the carpets in the dining room and living room. So, during the peak of Covid, I had to have a crew come in and rip out drywall, tear up carpets, and remove lower kitchen cabinets. Insurance ultimately paid for it BUT we had been planning to replace the flooring throughout the home and that triggered it another $30K of work out of our pocket. Took 6 months. Water leaks as such, really freak me out. Duct tape, yikes! It will get done. Looking forward to when the school is up and running. My daughter and I will take a sppon carving class there (and likely want to pet a donkey and pig or two).
Hi Anne, I have said this before and I still believe that it is correct, you are a force of nature that I very seldom come across. Most people would have given and ran away well before you even got started, I have watched you take on jobs that no one else would even think about taking on and somehow you power through and come out the other side smelling of roses. Most people would be delighted if they had a fraction of your ability and you get more done in one day than others manage in a week. Good on girl your mam is and will be happy to see you and the place where she stays is not important.
I love the perseverance you show to get the project done! We’ve all had projects that have completely derailed a schedule and budget. It’s when you complete them, that’s the reward.
Duct tape!?!? Wow, I'm not sure what to say there....
You guys will make it awesome though, I have 100% faith in you both!
You'll get there Sunshine. Just keep the faith and keep on knocking along!
You know what they say about plans. Never survive the first contact. Anne you are doing a fantastic job don't let the setbacks get to you. You do what you can when you can, you survive and adapt. You are doing great. The best wishes and good luck.
Ann,
I know you struggle with depression and im not sure why I'm even typing this. It might be because my own life is hard right now. Its not depression that i feel, but I am trying to work my way up a hill of sorts. Its just that im getting older and parts of my life are not what i would like, or hoped they would be at this point.
I can't say I understand what depression is like for you, but from my perspective, you are a person with many goals, hopes, and dreams that works incredibly hard to reach them. Your opening smile and what you teach us in your videos have real value to us viewers. You show us what can be, and is possible.
If you ever find yourself in the dark place of depression, please pull yourself up even though you don't feel like it because we need your inspiration. I'm glad the world we live in gives us a little glimpse of people like you who don't let the fear of the unknown completely stop you from doing what you've never done before.
You are proven capable of doing such great things even though the challenges were great. You are an inspiration and although i dont lnow you personally, I wish I knew more people like you!
Thank you!
An Anne video is always sure to brighten up my day. You're inspiring whether you're happy or sad. Keep at it!
Man, I can't express how truly sad I am for you, the thumbnail made me think, "Great, finally a video where things go right for Anne, she looks so happy". I would love to see the video after the "technicians", "fixed" the AC, I cannot believe you related that story so calmly, I'd have chased them off the farm with a pitchfork. On the positive side, the floor looks great, when it's done it'll really make it a warm feeling space.
How could anyone not root for you, no matter the lofty goals, no matter the million and a quarter things, chores and projects you juggle simultaneously, most always with a smile and an optimistic outlook, once more ,you've put yourself under the gun to complete this wonderful task, of making a home for your mom, I cheer you, pray for you, support your every move, Godspeed young Lady!
Before I even finish watching I have to point out this fun co-incidence. The original tiny house vid popped up in recommended so i just re-watched it last night.
❤️ Welcome to Tennessee glad you're here
Anne 💪🏻 powering forward 👍🏻 thank you for the inspiration 🙏
Anne, save your knees; get knees pads. They make them for all kinds of jobs. Get the kind that will not scratch your new flooring.
I love your posts, please post more often ❤❤❤
Oh no not again 😢 😫. Firstly the school issues and now this, Anne you and Adam really aren't having any good luck lately with one thing and another. That said I have faith in you both and what you are trying to achieve. Keep going you'll get there sooner than later. As always Anne 💯% 👍 🇬🇧.
You go girl. You inspire me, thank you. 👍
You are such an inspiration to soooo many! Here is a virtual hug to you and Adam 🤗. If there are anyone I wish good luck it has to be you two!
Nice to see you back and going strong. Friends, family and neighbors, what would we do without them! Mistakes and life are what happen when we least expect. God bless you'll and keep growing. There is an old saying, "Man makes plans and God laughs."
I know your pain all too well. :( Every project I have started in my new place has been met with interruptions and unforeseen problems. But your attitude is good and you can overcome!
When it rains, it pours. Sometimes literally. Hoping this is just a speed bump and you'll get it back on track again. Your struggles are quite relatable, and I wish you all the best getting through them. Thanks for sharing!
Girl chin up. On my property ive been here a year and half and i still haven't insulated my bus and put down the foundation to my pantry. Youre doing good!
You are truly a BEAUTIFUL HUMAN BEING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Blessings to you. You are my inspiration!!!!!!!! Never stop or give up you are an incredible person!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats annie hope your mom is ok
All the best to your efforts and your mom🙏❤️
What a kind jester! By now you are very familiar with Murphy’s Law! I foresee that you will overcome this setback as you have so many times in the past! Yeah I know it’s easy for me to say, but just to encourage you that it does get better. Chin up and smile, before you know it you will be finished.
Part 2? I can’t wait to see how it turned out! 🥰
Go Anne you rock!!!
Always admire your resiliency.
You've got this. Glad you have got it moving again.
1:40 oh Anne you try so hard not to cry on camera. I feel you. It's all very vulnerable and hits close. You rock 🪨 🎸 💪 😎
Yeahhh!!! 👏 well done! Look at you go 💪!
when it rains it storms.
Oh man!! That sucks. Love your channel❤
Wow wow wow!!
Hello Anne. Once again, another stunning and excellent video with superb production values. But that's of course to be expected from a strong, self-sufficient independent offgrid woman. Have a wonderful week and of course a Happy Thanksgiving 😍😍😎😎🌹🌼🌼
i know that situation too well ,"'just never ends "' feeling , but when it does best feeling ever . You're doing more than average human ,so you'll come out on top as always 🙌
Hello Anne, there is a saying I stumbled upon about 15 years ago that I will share with you…”Our Home, just the right mix of Chaos and Love.” While you certainly have copious amounts of chaos, it is very apparent to all who follow that you also have LOADS of LOVE!! The secret I have found is to pour more love on each day. Added to your own love for your dreams is certainly much love coming to you from all your friends out here!! I hope you feel the love and respect from this community. You are a treasure☀️ God Bless
You are such a hard worker Anne! I think you would do a lot better with a longer deadline. That is a good plan to give yourself the time needed.
Haha I would love longer deadlines, but sometimes you just gotta do what you’ve gottta do in the time you’ve got to do it 🤷🏻♀️
Respect, Miss Anne. What's that phrase my Mom said all of the time... ah yes. "And this too, shall pass". Hugs. Git'er Done.
God bless you and your husband.l will pray for you.❤l love your dogs.
Well done despite things that happen....but that's life....don't let it get you down. Think what you have achieved.👍🥰🤗🤗🤗🤗
Have a great Thanksgiving Anne!
*Anne, I sure hope you never paid 'that' company for the non-fixing of the AC unit. I mean to say... what dip-stick would use Duc-tape around a leaking pipe. I also hope you took photos of what happened too, in case the company take you to court for not paying. The judge would go in your favour too. You and Adam have adapted over so many things, what is one more to add onto the list. Enjoy spending time with your mum.*
Dear Anne, Time for you to discover knee pads. When work with any chance of bending down begins, strap on the knee pads. You'll thank yourself. Amazon Commercial knee pads are great, cheap, seriously adopt knee pads as a workday standard. Thanks for all, love seeing your progress
My pants actually have slots I can slide pads into under the knees. For most things, I can just slip a piece of cardboard in which helps quite a bit, but I don’t generally like wearing actual kneepads because I have some circulation issues
"If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" is the story of my life as well
I think I’ll just have it printed on my headstone
Funny I just caught the "previous episode" of your tiny house over on Roku Makers' Channel. Too bad April couldn't join you for this one.
Thanks for posting, and thumbs up!
Maybe they thought it was “duck” tape. And everyone knows ducks are waterproof…
The tiny house looks great so far! Wish I could help. Let me know if any welding is needed 😎
Cute Video!!!! 🤗♥️🙏🏼
I had the same problem with my minisplit in my office/workshop building here in TN - the condensation hose managed to kink uphill in the wall - forcing the reservoir to fill up inside the unit and leak.
Ah, life is one contest after another, but you are definitely winning!🔨🪚⚒👏👏👏🙏🏼
If you ever do this again get a furniture dolly and put your chop saw on it. Then you can roll it around and keep it close to make cuts. Floor layers do it that way to save on all the walking around.
Must easier with 2 people. 1 measuring and laying..1 cutting and laying stacking short pieces as starter pieces. I did my share of putting down floors like this. Looks great by the way.
About 6 months ago I had an electrician out to look at one circuit.... Now the whole house is rewired. At least the knob and tube wiring is gone.
I remember projects like this. Earned the moniker “Captain Chaos, king of the wild frontier “. Hold the record of most curses in less than one minute…a regular potty mouth have I.
Lol we read that book to our preschoolers.
T-Rex tape would have worked, it towed a tractor on Project Farm's CZcams channel and it withstood all weather. I'm sure they didn't use that stuff, it's at Home Depot. I wouldn't use it on something that important though.
It's not all bad, duct tape saved the lives of the Apollo 13 crew.😜❤️
I JUST SAW YOU ON HIKING WITH KEVIN!! AT LAKE RADNOR WITH CHERYL CROW!!!
When a door closes another opens.chaos is good for creativity but is hell for getting to the end of something. Don't ask how I know this. Deadlines allow us to focus and prioritize? Your road just happens to have a lot of interesting side trips. LOL! OooH Butterfly!!!!
Duct tape? "Handy man's secret weapon." - Red Green
I love the red green show 😂
HVAC.....the one trade I stay away from. Like my sister recently said "Like our Dad, we never pay for anything we could do ourselves."
I know a hvac person that won’t get a callback. You probably could have done a better job yourself. You have the skills to accomplish any task. Keep plugging along.
Man! I hope you don't have to camp out for long. Hope you didn't pay for that company's mistake. Can't wait to see this when it's done though!
Got nails poking up? Those will come back. Highly suggest pulling nails that are sticking up and replace them with screws or ring shank nails next to the old holes.
Oww yeaah really 😀
Have you tried naproxen for those long hard days. It does work all day for me. Anyway, I feel your pain with what are supposed to be professionals doing work even a run of the mill handyman wouldn't do and there no pill for that. I just hope that wasn't the most expensive foot of duct tape ever.
If it's just a pin hole could you melt some solder on it ?🤔
Still need the underlayment
According to the manufacturer’s website, adding underlayment would increase the floor’s chances of failure because the double padding would cause too much flex. Also, the floor is already laid, so, not super helpful regardless ;)
What's the brand of your hoodies?
Always setbacks, adding character to our already cRaZy lives, right? 🤔 💬 😂
I thought you would move the tiny house with you but I guess this makes sense to.
The tiny house we built in Washington wouldn’t have been possible to move.
🙏🏻❤️👍🏻👊🏻
What are the jackets that you are always wearing?
To be honest I thought since Adam quit his job to be there with you… that he would have been helping with this. It made me sad to see you doing the floor by yourself. My husband and I did our whole house (minus the main bedroom) and it was hard work!! But teamwork makes the dream work and we managed together. (As long as I’m helping him it works, but we’re still working on him helping me. Sigh)
I guess marriage is a challenge huh?
The only way to avoid setbacks is to try nothing at all. Somehow I don’t think you are cut out of that cloth.
💚🌞
Your right, life happens. I know my daughter has to work. She lives about 650 miles from me. I would give anything if we could spend more time together. I don't think I have many years left. I would love to have time.
Hmmm, so you mean to tell me that duct tape and bailing wire actually don't fix everything? That really sucks you guys had all that additional damage to repair. I'll be looking forward to that book coming out. Bets are it's a best seller with such a relatable title. If 😉 ~Patty~
Another great video Mrs Anne
Did you finish?
Jeez! Where is your bathroom?
😊👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤
Not according to plan by Anne of All Trades...... I'll back that on unbound, something to read in the allotment
Good luck, otherwise looks good.
Duct tape? HOLY moly!Ask for water damage coverage.
You need better AC professionals.
You are adorable
Is there any danger of mounting a circular saw upside down to use as a DIY table saw?
I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t done it, but it’s not the best idea because the chance for kickback is quite high. If you get it really well leveled out and there is plenty of level support on either side of the tool, it’s less of a risk, but I find I’m far more accurate using it in my hand as it was designed than any other way. A little practice goes a long way in getting really consistent, clean cuts
@@AnneofAllTrades Thanks for the detailed answer 🙃 I'll consider these risks and I'll try to use the tool as intended 😅 But I really want a table saw and they're out of my price range. If I end up making a DIY table saw I'll make it supported as you describe.
oh Anne! I hope you get some good karma back for being way too nice to the "repair man". good vibes your way! you can do it!
You’re a machine!
Whatever can go wrong will....... and at the least opportune moment.... a little thing called Murphy's Law.
Ah! The energy of youth! Use it while it's there ...
Don't worry. Even with the setbacks you are doing great. However you need to set some lower bar for yourself, not to be less perfectionistic cause you can't, so live with that, but aim to reach less and you'll reach doing more... 😉
I wish I lived in Tennessee if only to be a friend and help you two! But I live in Alberta. Stupid geography!
Hi Anne, is your middle name LUCKY by any chance. Keep battling on luv. Regards Jim UK.
...🙂🙂🙂
Anne, thanks for sharing. It's great that you want to do something for your mom by building her a place to stay in. I would say, having taken care of both my parents before they passed, I don't think it's in your mom's best interest to be climbing stairs. You did say she has health issues. It would be best to keep her on the ground floor. Just my opinion for what it's worth. Good luck with all your endeavors. May the Lord richly bless you.
I guess I missed something, why are you not living in your house?
The short answer is that we’re renting out our house to consolidate expenses while we make the final pushes to finish building our school. If you’re looking for the longer answer, we discuss what we’re up to and why in this video :) czcams.com/video/ZDznrW-C7TE/video.html
