Hello Neighbor is a survival horror stealth game developed by Russian video game studio Dynamic Pixels and published by TinyBuild. The goal of the game is to successfully sneak into the basement of the neighbor's house to uncover a secret.The game's artificial intelligence (AI) modifies the neighbor's behavior based on the player's past actions, such as setting traps along paths the player followed in a previous attempt. A sequel, Hello Neighbor 2, is scheduled for release in 2021.

Secret Neighbor: Hello Neighbor Multiplayer Horror Game
Secret Neighbor multiplayer spin-off to Hello Neighbor was announced on 10 June 2018. Set between the first two acts of Hello Neighbor, this game follows a group of friends trying to free their friend from the Neighbor's basement, each player class has a certain skillset and working together is required to get the keys needed to unlock the basement. However, one of the friends is The Neighbor in disguise and also has various class-based abilities at their disposal to confuse, trick, capture or otherwise deter the children from achieving this goal. More than a year after its announcement, the game was released on 24 October 2019, and is currently available for Xbox and PC via Steam.
Hello Neighbor 2 (formerly known as Hello Guest/Late Night Shift)
Hello Guest (Formerly referred to as Late Night Shift in early development), was announced and a demo released on 14 June, 2020. Hello Guest was later revealed to be the pre-alpha of Hello Neighbor 2 and on July 23, 2020 it was announced as the sequel to the original Hello Neighbor Game. On this day Hello Neighbor 2 Alpha 1 was also released, with Alpha 1.5 releasing on October 26th, 2020.

After playing myself, I loved the idea of multiple houses. The graphics were good for the series. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. But the bugginess and complete lack of direction overshadowed it made it annoying

Just a heads up for anybody wondering, the short length of the game is because the entire beta is a map designed for testing only. The full release will (presumably) have a lot more content. Also according to their discord, the advanced AI is not present in this beta. I believe them on that but It could just be them making excuses so you never know.
I still believe this game has potential, so don't disregard it right away. But I don't recommend buying it until we see what the full release looks like.
When does the full game release?
Maybe if they didn't have the game priced so high this would be excusable. If this was a free alpha people wouldn't be that angry over the bugs, but it's not, and the high price for a half-baked game will turn people off. Nobody wants to pay for an "unfinished" product, and I wish game devs would stop slapping a price tag on rushed games, then excepting things to go well with reviewers.

I feel like history's going to repeat itself again, as it typically does. Hello Neighbor, like many indie horror series, has a very forgiving fanbase. They can be taken for a ride and would probably hop on board for a third one, no matter how much more they have to pay.
...Probably because a lot of them don't have to pay anything. They just get to watch their favorite CZcamsrs play it.

I do like how they became more focused and chose to focus on the game development rather than posting a bunch of alphas and trying to deepen the lore. I hope this continues and that we get a more focused, stealth-based game.
If they just stoped at alpha 2 for the alphas, then the game possible could have had a better rap.

I wanna say that TinyBuild is like Illumination studios, in that they both like to pump out new releases, but I think Mob Games, creator of Poppy Playtime, is more like Illumination studios. Mob Games is literally planning on making a MOVIE about Poppy Playtime, and they only made 2 Poppy Playtime games. I know they're making chapter 3, but still, I feel like the Poppy Playtime devs are more greedy than the Hello Neighbor ones
Before watching this video I'm gonna say this. I'm glad that they released a beta (apparently V0.0) and are willing to listen to feedback and that could make the final product better. I haven't played it myself since I'm waiting for the full release

the difference between standard edition is that you just get the beta and the game upon release

The AI is bad in the beta because the neural network that they've been talking about is still not implemented in the beta and will be introduced with full release.
This has been confirmed officially on the discord.

The new ai was intentionally left out. It wasn't ready yet, but it is confirmed that it will be included in future betas once its ready

But why would they do that? I think showing it would've been a much smarter decision, because then they could take feedback from the players. Seems counterintuitive to me, and almost sounds more like an excuse, but I could be wrong. Although, considering their poor record, I don't think that it not being shown isn't an excuse.

All the criticisms of this Beta are entirely fair, however, the title of this video is INCREDIBLY misleading.
This is blatant clickbait, don't treat a beta as the full game. 'Hello neighbor 2 review' is going to turn some viewers off of the game when in reality this is just a review of an early version.
A better title would be something along the lines of 'The new Hello Neighbor 2 Beta is TERRIBLE (review)'.
Once again, I agree with the contents of the video entirely, but the title is just not it bro.

Good thing about the beta is that the model isn't janky as Hello Neighbour 1(full game ver) and that's all it got. The ai is still terrible and and the objective is still vague.

I honestly think the game is really good for a beta, the graphics are amazing, I love the ending with the guest, the neighbor looks so much better, the sounds are awesome, the only problem I had with it was the AI, and how sometimes in the first house with the police officer you can no-clip through the floor on the attic. For the AI, this is just a beta, after watching the video, it feels like your treating it like a full game. They didn't release the full build that they have, not any new betas, alphas, early access, nothing, they even said they cut a lot of parts from the game to keep it 'spoiler free' they have already finished their early access build and might release it soon, and they have tons of progress on the full build. They still have around 8 months to work on it.

I’m so pissed off that people complain about the price of a game, making a game as a studio is a very harsh task. The studio needs to make money somehow, and profit off of it. Also the game isn’t even released yet, so you’re just buying a pre-release. Oh also bugs are an occurrence in every game, so stop complaining and if you don’t like it, then don’t buy it :D
i get what you mean, as game dev is hard work, and whenever its not just 1 person, its also an expensive task. but you gotta think, until they are able to make hello neighbor 2 fun, and match up to expectations, is it really worth the same cost as a nintendo game?

First of, the game is actually $40 dollars, you have the option to buy the Deluxe Edition which gives you 3 DLCs, the Full Game 5 days early plus the Beta for $60 dollars.
Second, you're treating this as if it was the Full Release which shouldn't even be considered it like that. Heck, they literally give you a message at the beginning saying that there are technical issues and bugs too.
I do agree with you on some points in this video but overall this is kind of dumb in a way.

Ok so about the AI, I read this on Steam Discussion Boards (So take it with a grain of salt) but apparently a model of the final game AI will be added into the beta via an update. At the moment the AI really is dumb as a bag of potatoes. I don't understand why they would release a beta with a gutted AI after advertising the advanced AI, just seems kinda dumb.
it just confuses me why they would even do this. I've heard this a lot too, but if the beta is built to convince people this game was actually good, putting in the bad AI makes no sense, and if the beta is built to test out the new features, putting in a bad AI still makes no sense.

I can’t believe the stupidity of this guy. This is a BETA, and simply a play test of the game, it is literally in the name. This is NOT a finished product and is of course going to be buggy.
The beta, while my experience was very glitchy (it was pretty funny and made for good content so that’s fine lol), I thought it was actually pretty fun. Things need to be clearer, puzzles and overall gameplay, and there are many glitches and exploits that need fixing. However, I actually had a lot of fun when the game worked correctly, and maybe i’m a chicken but i actually got a little spooked in chases sometimes. It has potential and despite having fun with the abundance of glitches I really want this game to succeed.
The betas A.I is completely not the one used.
I like the graphics but I don't like the fact that you have to infiltrate multiple houses with multiple people who chase you. Hello Neighbor had a really lonely feel to it, I can't describe it, the only life that exists is the moving cars and the city far away in the horizon. Plus there's was no dialog which makes it better. I'll have to wait until the game fully releases to find out.

Don't understand why people thought it'd be perfect on day one, that's to be expected, it was made by humans, humans make mistakes. Alphas are supposed to be early versions of games, so it should be expected that there will probably be bugs.

@Portal Rifter It could be just that this is literally the most bug-free part of the game so far, and that the full game still is almost unplayable with the bugs in it. If the release strategy is similar to the original Hello Neighbor's, then this beta is highly likely to be only a third or less of the whole game, and the rest has many spoilers to the ending. This is just what I think, and the real reason could either be much simpler, or much more complex.

The puzzles, atmosphere, music, and new mechanics are the main plus to the game and they are absolutely amazing. The AIs for the beta and the bugs sure are annoying sometimes. But im happy they are listening to feedbacks and beside: the ai does not use the neural network in the beta and is kept for the full game and they JUST released the beta, and considering this is a hello neighbor game, id expect this kind of thing to happen. 6.5/10. Take it from me. Not giving this beta any more score tho. Some bugs broke entirely my first play through. I think saying its « terrible » is a bit exaggerated. I understand if someone says its just « bad »

I get that its a beta and all but i literally cant play it because of a glitch were whenever i drop an item it gets stuck inside me and then i cant pick up any other items or switch between items. it breaks the entire game so ive just given up for now

I crashed twice and both of those times made me lose my progress.

honestly the main issue right now is basically the ai, with the hole lack of direction thing i never had that issue you can find all of the clues on where stuff is in the neighbors house
I think that it is pretty good.
Even though the AI is pretty bad, and we still have to think about that it isn’t a full release, just a beta, In my opinion I love the detail, and yes it is very glitchy but we can’t say that it is bad for sure until the full game.
and it is just to let you see the atmosphere and not reveal any secrets at the same time, which can be hard.
(but that’s just my opinion and i’ve always liked hello neighbor so)

I haven't watched any videos on it yet other than this, and it looks like it's sort of going back to its roots, from the atmosphere, to the sound design, and it looks much better than alpha 2 +

@@1slayer959 Ok, but the first game being bad had almost nothing to do with the devs. Dynamic pixels gave them a very VERY short amount of time to work on the game which was the reason it turned out so unfinished. HN2 on the other hand has been worked on for years already. Using the ''it happened before so it'll happen again surely!!!!'' is stupid because this time around they have about more than double the time to work on the game, polish it and fix bugs, and the team is around twice as big as before, AND they are all more experienced with their previous projects. You can believe whatever you want but I have high hopes with this game and nothing will be able to change that until full release.

The thing with the AI seems to be a range problem? Maybe the AI thinks that it should have catched you already, so it stops for the time of the animation, realizes the player move and goes again. Maybe they had more range during the AI training and they modified it later for some reason.
We are actually playing the first test of the game it won't launch till dec 6 according to the comments hopefully they fixed the bugs by then

Well they said on a video and also on the introduction screen of the beta that there was gonna be missing content and mechanics. Considering this, the beta was really good on its purpose of giving the player the chance to play in an open-world environment and interact with all the different houses and characters. Please have all the sources checked before expressing an opinion next time.
I feel like the beta Is alright it is buggy but it's beta it's going to be like that and the Ai in the beta isn't the Ai they are going to use in the full game so I feel like it's a little harsh to say the full game will be bad

Review the game when it's fully released and not in beta, I don't like it when developers do early access and the "release first, patch later" thing but until the game is finished by the developers, it can be a fair review. If the game is buggy when it's actually released, I'll hear you out.

I think you make some great points with this, the only one that I don't think is vald is when discussing the game's length.
I think the final game won't just be this neighborhood. If it's like the first game I'm *assuming* it'll be in 3 acts? Act 1 is this, Act 2 is the theme park/fair (You can see in the background, foreshadowing as well as the location for previous alphas/tests), where you're running from the guest, and Act 3 isssss.... idk. But overall more than 1 hour of playtime, (on a standard playthrough, not speedrunning)
Other than the point on time though, everything else here seems valid... while they seem to have upgraded the visuals, which is nice, I hope they can improve upon the rest of the experience before release too, otherwise my hope for this entry is fading.

Every house and resient will have their own long story line and there will likely be some more residents than in beta not counting dlcs

Not gonna lie, like Alpha 1. I see potential in Hello Neighbor 2's Beta. The concept of sneaking into multiple neighbors' houses is promising and interesting. I think instead of making one big elaborate house. They should divide most of the puzzles into each neighbors' houses. The Mayor, The Baker, The Police, The Fisherman. I'm cautious but intrigued...

Hello Sheeprage, been a while since I commented! Hello Neighbor 2 looks very good but watching through Devilninja's stream the ai IS somehow worse than the ai in the first game! While playing the first game over and over during my obsession of the game for a couple years (that obsession died down and Im just busy on future project ideas), i noticed Mr. Peterson could see you from great distances or little spots where your slightly exposed but it's like how did this happen??? Whoever play tested this before release did poorly or just didn't care.. I hope they don't rush through this game like the first, if there needs to be fixes, they should push the release date a bit further if needed. Better to release it late than having to release a bug filled game
man they need to add some animation to the walking movement fr like the camera bobbing up and down or making the player less speedy. it would make the game looks 80% less jank
I believe the actual good AI is gonna be in the full release since the game is not releasing until December 6th.

It's a shame your experience with this beta was so negative. Sure the price is a bit high but ignoring that the beta has lots of great gameplay elements and the puzzles are the best in the series. Hopefully the full game will be great.

@@lerr123456 I mean, the beta is actually really enjoyable and I can see the full game being a masterpiece. The devs are aware that the first game was disappointing and are trying to do better this time round and it shows.

but if the ai doesnt improve this game is terrible the old hello neighbors alphas (alpha 2 and alpha 1 and pre-alpha) have actual advanced ai (sometimes) and i hope that gets put into hello neighbor 2

I like the game it was amazing especially the ending sorta giving us a hint about the neighbor and guest being different people and new house but i agree it is really pricy. I mean after their last game which was 30 dollars im surprised they feel this confident about this game i hope it’ll be worth it.
