Only a few days since my previous video where we went over how Hello Neighbor 2 was beaten in less than 3 minutes, now with some new tricks and optimization, the record has been smashed and the game has been beaten in under 2 minutes! I don't think I've ever had a video age that poorly that fast lol

I know the devs somewhat embraced these bugs for speedrunning, but I would frankly be embarassed releasing a game this busted.

This game feels like you can get through anything solid if you wiggle hard enough.
It's fine if the Devs want to patch the game. All they need to do is make a "Speedrun Mode" option on the main menu which lists all versions of the game. That way casual players can enjoy a non-buggy mess, whereas speedrunners have their pick of the litter from every version of the game to find which one works best for them.
I get what you’re going for, but that isn’t a good idea because it would mean having all the old code able to be switched on & off in the game files, which will very quickly bloat the file size and likely hurt the framerate.
@@supC_ Some devs do it through the steam beta option where you can switch between versions of the game
Most of the speedrun strats shown on the video aren't things a casual player will be able to pull off accidentally or even know about, the game state will still be the same regardless of removing these strats or not.
What they really have to patch are NPCS locking, A/T posing, the player being able to jump a mile high, the neighbours being able to pick you from a lot of distance sometimes and other times not being able to pick you when you are at their side etc.
@@nerfirelia8235 That’s fine because you download the specific version you want to play. That’s different than having an in-game option and doesn’t lead to any of the aforementioned problems.

Yeah they sure are but also you have to remember that this is just disappointing to see in a game that was clearly not fucking tested one bit😂 seriously it's depressing I would love to see Tiny build make a game where there's not some giant bug or something missing from their game that they never fix and they're just like oh yeah that's fine no one will notice that or take advantage of it or be mad at us that we never fix it for years later literally so many other games are so good but have so many major issues why can't they just hire people to test them

By patching these glitches and going against their word of not meddling they will be doing exactly what they’ve done for this entire franchise. Shooting themselves in the foot over and over again.

Because it also hurts their image if their "brand new $60 game" can be beaten in legitimately less than 2 minutes. It's to save even a small amount of face and integrity that they put a "high amount" of "effort" into their games. No matter what they do they're gonna shoot themselves in the foot so doing it this way at least makes the share holders happy.

You can learn a lot about game design by watching speed runs. Tip: Don't make items interactive until a flag is activated by actually completing the intended puzzle.
I swear game devs should just offer the game to speed runners to 'break' so they can fix up some of these bugs. As cool as some of these are it could only make the game better and offer more of a challenge as at this point, there just saving less than moments of time for a speed run.

For those going on about 'beta testers' and such failing and such. I've beta-tested a few games in my time. It comes down to that a group of us can't possibly think of trying everything that all the countless other players may have come up with. If we didn't think 'hey crouch in this exact angle and do this frame perfect input and do action X Y Z to do this' then well. Yes, even things as simple as 'crouch and press forward against this solid object' can be missed.
When you want to complain about how testers missed this stuff, just think, would YOU think of any of this? As that's what testers are, just people playing a game to find stuff. We are there to try and break things, but speedrunners do have a skill set in knowing better what to look for, and many have external tools that they design for these games to help with such frame-perfect discoveries that normal people just don't have.

You're acting as if the devs were competent enough to be able to fix the bugs in the first place.

@@thechugg4372 It's not really that. I';ve beta tesated for a few games and it's more that we can't always think of everything. We can try and break the game and such but what we may think of to try someone in the 1000''s of more players may have stumbled on. Or as with speed runners, they develup tools to break stuff down to help them discover these tricks, like exact angles to crouch against something to clip in that a general test may never find, or those frame perfect imputs. A lot goes into play testing, but in all, it cant account for countless of other players doing things we never would have thought to try.
This is insane! How buggy is your game that it can be beaten in less than 2 MINUTES! It doesn’t even end there; I found a glitch with the mayor and the policeman where they would get stuck repeating an animation (the policeman would keep opening the side door, spotting me and shutting it. And the mayor got stuck in the table where the gramma phone is.
Crazy idea: "Don't spawn the keys etc. until the proper access has been granted"
If I were making a game I might just spawn the keys immediately. If some speedrunner figures out a way to clip in then good for them, so long as casuals don't do it accidentally. Speedrunners have fun breaking a game or just playing it really well (depends on the runner) and I'd happily leave things in place that they could potentially abuse, again, so long as it doesn't hurt casual play. Having stuff always present is also nice for boundary breakers.
There are a lot of other bugs that probably should have been found but modern dev times, budget constraints, ect can make it difficult to find and fix everything (and it seems like there were other things going on in the back that made development less than smooth). The underlying game engine can also introduce weird bugs. I presume they used Unity which, at least used to (not sure if it's still the case) be cheaper to use than Unreal (I think both Unity and Unreal allow you to publish a game without paying fees until you get a certain number of buyers then you pay some percentage, Unity takes less). Unity can be a real buggy mess but developing a whole new 3D engine that's even half as good just isn't feasible on a budget. I know for Yooka Laylee they used Unity but heavily modified it to work for them and be far more optimal than stock.

Its wild that this game is so broken its possible to speedrun it within 10 minutes while looking at a speedrun footage as reference
If you get caught while moving on a ladder(this can be done on the upper floor of the mayor's house)you get glitched when you respawn and can pretty much fly around. Though this might get patched soon.

My favourite time save in these games is to just not play them since they've been made as cheaply as possible, are totally broken, have shite endings, and the people making them have been rewarded for doing so with a TV show, toy lines, and a bunch of other deals that makes me want to puke.

The only exploits devs should patch are ones that actually break the game, like the clipping issues here. It becomes less about playing the game optimally and intentionally and more about “get through these collision barriers and you win”
Not that that’s a bad thing, but speedruns where you actually play the game as intended are equally as interesting to see

If you are referring to my comment as a conspiracy theory, I want to clarify, that what makes many games fun for a lot of players is finding glitches and finding ways to utilize glitches. For that reason, it would be beneficial to intentionally put various glitches and exploits in the game.
I know, that if I made a large game, I would attempt to sprinkle very specific, intentionally exploitable mechanics in it.
Slime Rancher has fun exploits like certain spots being skippable with good maneuvering with the jet pack, and some parts of the terrain almost seem deliberately placed (like the rocks in the open water, that the honey largo in the corner of the biome it is in is facing(pretty sure, this is not used in speedruns)).
However, I no longer think that it was intentional, because I later watched someone play the game for themself and saw how often they clipped through the floor or the game crashed, which obviously wouldn't be intentional.

I like programming, and the concept of speedrunning. Having a good understanding of one allows you to better do the other. If you are developing a game, or any product for that matter, it is important to consider the demographic, that the product will reach, and make the product good for as many of the types of people, the product will reach. ("types of people" is inaccurate, but that is irrelevant in this context.)
To clarify, I think that some games intentionally not only allow glitches, that are used in speedrunning, to exist, but create them for that purpose. Because that's what I would do, and I can not be the only person in the world, to have had that idea. I no longer think that this game did it intentionally though.
The words "glitch" and "exploit" may not be accurate in all of the places, I have used them.
This is way too much text to explain my point, but I am too tired to read it through for mistyped words, grammatical incoherence or leaps in logical.
If I'm wrong or missing information that is relevant to this, please do tell me

I just opened High On Life, and while it is almost definitely meant as a joke, some of the things, that pop up along with photosensitivity warnings is something like "any bugs you may encounter are completely intentional".
In the blue house i cant jump till crouching and i cant do the door glitch.

I think there may be some credit to thinking they made the game broken on purpose. Remember these are the same people who basically ditched the idea of making the first one stable in favor of chasing clout and theory videos, practically begging for it on twitter.
