  • Beirut's recent trash woes have given light to its underlying political instability but Lebanon is often overlooked for its religious tolerance and diversity. The small country that borders the Mediterranean officially recognises 18 different religious denominations, each with the freedom to administer marriage, divorce and alimony matters to those of their faith.
Civil marriage is also a viable option for all denominations, and is increasingly popular, especially among couples from different faiths. Some might argue, however, that the increased freedoms come at a price.
According to statistics from the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia, between the years of 2000 and 2013, the divorce rate in Lebanon increased by 55 percent. Regardless, many maintain that the flexibility is necessary. This system legitimises various different religious courts which then coordinate and communicate with other courts, government bodies, that control disputes outside of the religious context.

I believe beforehand when a couple gets married they need to know each on a much deeper level like understanding each other but unfortunately they pretend to love each other for personal gains . or to satisfy their parents. But Marriage should be taken seriously and not for each others interests in the marriage because in the long run children are going. To suffer mental a anguish and pay the price. A couple need to have a strong vision for their LIFE . what they really want from the relationships BEFORE they get hitched their wagon to a star. Wishing on a. Star to follow who u are . wishing on a Dream to follow what it means

I don't know much about a dowry, but it seems to me that if they are getting a divorce, she has no right to the full dowry. This should also be half. If they are married, yes, she has right to all the money of the dowry. It's hers to do whatever she wants with it whether she works or not, but in the case of a marriage that's being dissolved, it would not be right for her to be owed all of the dowry, especially if they should be dividing things 50/50 in the first place. On the other had, it doesn't seem like the courts divi up things half/half for them, so maybe the dowry owed to her is all she has.

    • @andy5251
      @andy5251 Před 3 lety +1

They don't divide things 50/50 that's why the dowry is there. In Islam its the duty of the man to provide for his family. The dowry is an obligation from him to her, he chose to accept that obligation when marrying knowing the implications of divorce, you don't just get to alter the rules now that the situation is occurring. The dowry is supposed to help the woman survive after marriage if something happens, in cases of men not being able to pay alimony, the dowry was supposed to protect her but if he refused to pay that or the courts pressured her to forgo the dowry to get the divorce quicker (which is wrong of them) then she is not only losing her rights but in a vulnerable position.

In my opinion, everything should be split 50/50 according to law. If they can't come to an agreement themselves, the court should divi it up for them: half/half in the case of a dissolution of marriage. Nobody pays anything to each other unless it's child support. If a person has no job to support himself/herself, then he/she needs to file for government assistance or if this route is refused, then with a private organization to help the person get on his/her feet during their hardship. With that being said, divorce shouldn't be taken lightly. There should be 3 major grounds for divorce: Abuse, Addiction, & Neglect of Conjugal duties (which includes adultery-don't cheat!) These charges should be separate and carried out by the courts outside of the divorce.

Come do a documentary about marriage in the United States. In the United States, Civil marriage is imposed on its citizens. There is no right to choose to have your marriage contract governed by morality. Religious ceremony's are just for show and tradition. Civil marriage courts are the only ones that have authority when marriages go defunked. Civil marriage is governed by Hedonism and idolatry of men and what they think is right and wrong, not morality. Often victims of adultery have their wages garnished, loose their children, and loose their property, to the adulterer. Any states that have laws based in morality are ignored and considered archaic. They believe in "no fault Divorce". Where they consider divorce to be no body's fault and it is taboo to bring up any sort of resemblance of a moral breech of contract regarding adultery. Adulatory is a personal freedom. The courts would likely order you to a form of reeducation if you think otherwise. How can one say there is freedom in the United States? You are only free To have the same values as the state on how something as personal as your marriage contract is governed.

Why only Women are oppressed even men are also oppressed, if you see in Western Countries Women can take divorce anytime from husband and husband has to pay for rest of his life Alimony and Child support, Women can come anytime Women can go anytime, even after marriage even if Husband is waiting for her she doesn't have to come home or she can go out and dance with anyone, the man or husband can not even ask her.
Here in this case yes Women are getting problems but what about men who are suffering, there is not a single documentary about it, it is sad.
Not only Women, men are also equal, if you see in England, US etc men commit suicides because of financial problems they go through because of just loving or marrying a bad Woman.
That's why I say to men - never marry any Woman, "girlfriend is cheaper than Wife or Ex-Wife and Condoms or Contraceptives are cheaper than Child support", never marry and never have any child up until you see and observe her for at least 10-15 yrs.
I interviewed many men in US when I was living there, who literally cried because of the financial mayhem their Ex-Wives or Girlfriends left for them. Men - its not worth to marry or have Children when you yourselves are not safe.
Someone asked me do you suggest the same for your mother and sisters (this is the utmost use of emotional blackmail, but I knew I would get this question), I said, I don't care, because if my Sisters want to follow the rules of marriage they will marry otherwise they would become girlfriends of somebody, why would I stop or force her/them from doing anything.
Its easy for anybody to become popular by supporting a Woman, do somebody become popular by supporting any man?
Gender discrimination is happening with men too, if any couple goes to anybody, husband is at fault by default until he proves mistake of the Woman or Wife? Isn't that gender discrimination?
Yes in the above cases men are at fault, but its not fair to create discrimination based upon some cases, men are also suffering, specially in Western Countries or in metro cities of India or any country for that matter. This Western civilization has given very bad reputation for men, when there are many books to understand the Woman's sexuality there is not a single book to understand mans sexuality, why always men have to understand Women why not the other way round, I never saw anyone giving program to understand the issues of men. I think today feminism would be ready to kill many men because all it needs few male species for reproduction. Even though I consider both of them as Humans, but the mans and woman's sexuality are different, in this World mans sexuality is taken as violent where as Women sexuality is taken divine etc, its not true.
Even though they say and scream Women are equal but when man can't make living or earn food, he is subject to discrimination, there are many men who treat Women nicely (I don't know if they treat equal or not) and provide them everything, if man sits home and woman make living or earn bread - we all know what can we expect from Wife or other people around us.
Men its my suggestion never marry anyone - no matter whatever is the case don't marry and don't have kids until you see her up to 10-15 yrs.

Women should never have the right to divorce except for the cause of infidelity (proof needed) according to biblical scripture. If divorce for other reasons she should be fined and jailed. If that doesn't work lethal action from the spouse will take place. Btw, I'm Lebanese and know these things well as a religious person living within a religious country. Also, marriage is only allowed if both same religion, if not it's problematic thus religious conversions do occur. This is how my country works so for those who don't like this idea can leave and live elsewhere 👍
