- On Thursday, President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump will meet on stage in Atlanta for the first of two presidential debates ahead of the November 2024 election. While their performance in the televised debates could influence the outcome, it wouldn’t be the first time in history that a presidential debate moved the needle in a close race.

If former President Kennedy, or former President Reagan, were here today to see all the mud-slinging, nasty comments, like the diaper comments, they would be appalled. They had dignity and respect for each other and for the office of the presidency. 😮

Reagan was a piece of crap. From his denial of the Aids crisis to flooding the US and inner cities with cocaine to fund a war.
Reagan is to blame for most if not all of the problems currently facing the modern american. He crippled the third and middle classes. Trickle down economics failed us all. The only people who benefited from his presidency are the elite and wealthy. Which is par the course for a republican president.
Debates now need lie detectors and muted microphones. Who would have thought.
Really? Politics has always always been lies. If you think not, you just were not aware then. They tell you what you want to hear, and news tells you what they want you to think. Thats why they hated, hated trump. He said what we all thought out loud like "We are selling weapons to the saudis.." or "we are there to get there oil.." Ten the weak people freaked out saying they want a liar in office.
And moderators that spend more time arguing with candidates to protect the uniparty war criminals.

The Kennedy-Nixon debates were the best ever. They discussed serious matters and gave excellent answers. Also, the moderators were real pros who asked pointed questions. Also, there was no audience-which is the way it should be!

I actually really enjoyed it. I think it added a distinctly professional touch to what might otherwise be considered a not-so-professional video. There's no flashy editing and the angle on the gentleman speaking seems to be taken from a laptop webcam with questionable quality, (given the kind of budget TIME would have and what viewers are used to in terms of regular video quality). HOWEVER, the top-level writing, subject clarity, and well-spoken gentleman all allow for a video where the quality of information and explanation is the main star of the show. The music is used in such a way to work within our expectations as "this is something we expect from a professional company" while breaking down the social barriers between the audience and the company. It's like, yeah, this is a video on politics by *the* TIME magazine. It is presented in such a way, however, where it's just a regular, relatable guy explaining things we're interested in. He's not a news anchor here, he's a nice guy who knows what he's talking about. That story between the audience's perception and the video itself is one clearly aimed at connecting with the viewer. While the news might talk at you, this guy is talking with you. The video isn't a recording, it's a facetime.
TIME Magazine (and specifically the guy presenting), I thought y'all did a really great job. Keep it up :)
The 1st Presidential Election I paid attention to was the 2012 Election, & I've felt with each since then that the Libertarian, Green, & any other Independent Party candidates should be on the debate stages alongside the Democratic & Republican candidates.
I remember that election partially. Seeing Mitt Romney debating against Barrack Obama, I found myself a bit on the conservative side. While I forgot what was debated, the outcome was that Obama got four more years. And by 2016 when it was Trump vs Hillary, I was pretty heavily inflicted by everyone around me to be a democrat, to be liberal.
For the past eight years, I’ve seen how things were and then how it all went downhill in 2020. Trump did get a lot of flak early on in the pandemic because it did seem like he didn’t care which didn’t sit well to the public. And after 3-4 years we still have people fearing to breathe air because of the pandemic scare.
The media is really the main issue when it comes to indoctrination. Those who blindly accept things without question is what they want.
I’ve been blind long enough and it’s time to be wiser about politics.
They never let them. When they get the requirements they just change the rules.

As I see it, since Trump and Biden are too scared to invite RFK Jr. to the debate stage, how am I to believe that the have the cajónes to stand up to their corporate donors (AKA masters) to even have a CHANCE at "draining the swamp?" I mean, RFK Jr. is probably the most emotionally regulated, spiritually grounded, humble, classy, dignified, thoughtful, statesmanlike, respectful speaker ON THE PLANET. I was raised under traditional/conservative values, but I always hated how the Repubs didn't seem to care AT ALL about the environment. I also hated that they seemed to be the party of war and of the wealthy/corporations. It's only over the course of about the last 12-15 years that I began pondering politics beyond what I was being spoon fed and examining what my voting habits were really about. The more I looked into it, I was dismayed to discover how true it really is, that it was ALL ABOUT MONEY! Life went on and I pretty much gave up giving a poo, resigning my fate to whichever corporations "donated" and lobbied the most. Then the "Dempanic" happens and suddenly my rights are being seriously infringed upon and my fellow Americans are ANGRY AT ME for complaining???? As I see it, BOTH administrations under BOTH parties colluded with corporations (Big Pharma) to divide us, censor us, spy on us, scare us, threaten our livelihoods, deny us medical body autonomy, steal our equity by causing our small businesses to go bankrupt, deny us the right to gather for worship, deprive us of a last hug from a dying loved one and increase our national debt to a catastrophic height! The debate now a days are like watching kids pick in each other. It's so damn sad. Back then at least they were talking to all Americans as a whole unlike today's candidates change their views to gain favor to certain groups of people.
I truly cannot emphasize enough how much young Dems dislike Biden for this reason. Throughout his political career, he’s been for and against literally everything from M4A to abortion. Say what you want about Bernie and his effectiveness but at least you know he genuinely believes in his positions. Biden even promised to be a one term president and changed his mind about that too! Cannot believe I’m gonna have to vote for this guy again.

Debates are pretty important. For the 2024 election, this debate is paramount importance. You have a current president debating against a former president. Both are going to criticize the other and defend their times in office.
But neither are debating arguably the biggest third party candidate since Ross Perot.
Put Kennedy on the debate stage and if he’s crazy like everyone says, Trump and Biden will easily show it.
I'm afraid I'll miss the Dean Martin/Jerry Lewis debate tonight but will catch the low lights sometime tomorrow. Hopefully, Uncle Fester will survive the 90 minutes without needing medical assistance.

There were 3 Kennedy Nixon debates, it is generally accepted that the first and second, broadcast on radio. were won by Nixon, The third was the only debate between them that was televised. The media set up the seating and the lights, Nixon chose not to wear makeup, Kennedy did wear stage make up. It is not known what the political affiliations of any of the media people who set the scene and the stage was. If they were doing something to influence the debate, it was not obvious to anyone in the Republican campaign that appearances made that much difference, when it is ideas of governance at stake. Did the Democrats think about it, we will never know!
