When I was a teenager, sixty years ago, I had a terrible car accident in my very first car, a small Renault . I had a friend and two children in my care. The steering mechanism broke, the car hit an embankment and ended up upside down. We were all able to crawl out unharmed before the sheriff arrived. The car was totaled, we were taken to the hospital, but had no injuries (I know, unbelievable.) But I was really shaken, being so young, and hadn’t been driving long. At the time, thought I might never drive again. But when we got back to my friend’s house, her uncle immediately said come on, we’re going for a drive and you’re driving. I was panicked and didn’t want to go, but he literally made me. I will always be grateful to him for that. He knew exactly what I needed. I love driving and have always had a good driving record all these years. I really think, if he hadn’t forced to drive right after the accident. I may have not ever driven again. He made face my fears, and it was the very best thing for me. I think as we get older it takes longer to bounce back from accidents or mishaps like that though.Love your new studio space.

So sad about your car. I do know the feeling of waving goodbye to my car on a tow truck. Very sad😢. But you're okay thank God and Noone else got hurt. That would be horrendous to come back from. You are going to get addicted to that fire. I loved mine and would spend way too much time warming my but in front of it haha.

Maybe you could drive James in to the studio and then he can go on from there. His company for those trips might make a big difference. Hugs a lot.
My husband lost his right leg at the end of November in a work accident. We had been living in a caravan for 12 years, but he could no longer navigate the small space, so we spent 2 months living with my mother (who doesn't really like any of us) before finding a new home. Now we're trying to move into a new rental, but he can't carry things or lift things and I'm having to be a lot more social, and engaged with other people (instead of relying on him to do all that!) in addition to working a full time job as a librarian.. my anxiety is through the roof. Your videos help.

Wendy be so so careful with a non vented gas heater, be sure you are not effected by fumes and always shut it off completely, a window open when in use is best, do you have a carbon monoxide detector? I say this because I care about you, and know of issues with those not direct vent to the outside gas heaters. Thank you for your wonderful channel and beautiful art ❤, you and James and Jeffy are precious.

When my old car died I was so upset to say goodbye to it. I used to talk to it and have resolved not to talk to the new one!!! It's been really nice to see you, and to hear you're making progress. Takes time! So sorry for your loss 🙏 Love and blessings 💐

Lovely space. You could add a shelve above your desk along that bit of wall above the windows-a place for some books, art supplies, bits/bobs. Great chair, great table

Somebody showed a tiny notebook from a journal, that talked about taking small steps, and soon you'd be flying again soon ( Oh yeah, you!) You totes got this (to quote your daughter). I believe in you, and that things will get better, and you'll get back your confidence, and a routine. No doubt when the weather improves, and the spring equinox is closer, you'll feel stronger.
In the meantime, self-care to fill your cup and heal, believe in yourself (as you know we do) and enjoy your home studio and "nesting".

I was in a real bad car wreck about 12 years ago, where I was driving home, and a young lady who came across the road. I didn’t even see her. She was coming so fast and took the front of my car off, luckily, I had a brace on for I was working on my back, because I was already having a little back issue because I was a hairdresser, they said if I didn’t have that brace on I’d probably had a broken back and couldn’t walk. Needless to say it really messed me up specially, mentally I’d get in the car and I’d go on full panic. I couldn’t drive anywhere just to drive to my salon that was only 3 to 5 minutes away took me over 30 minutes to get there, it took me years to get over it. I still have issues driving, but not as near as bad as right after that it happened you would think something like that it wouldn’t mess with you like it does but it can and it did with me and still does today.

We have the opportunity to be grateful every day, and seek joy and learning every day. Occurrences like this can affect us profoundly, but they are opportunities to learn and grow (that we are strong enough to survive, if nothing else). Hoping that you can find healing, gratitude and joy each day. Love and light.

Maybe moving much of your studio to your home base was meant to be. When you get an inspiration, you don't have to rush off to a studio at odd times to get those ideas onto paper. I'm glad you are on the mend, Wendy. Nice that your hubby is so supportive and loving. He's the best, eh?💖💖

Hello Wendy, I would say consider the confidence you have with your art, and sort out what it is that keeps you ticking with artmaking, and see if there's a way to gauge your confidence as part of who you are (as experienced with your art), rather than being limited to what you do (as experienced with you driving). How are you fearless in your artmaking? How are you fearless in your driving? Maybe these questions will help find your way back? Of course, these suggestions are only meant to try to think about things in a different way, if it works for you. I know you are a determined person when you put your shoulder to the wheel!. James is also so lovely.

Seeing you type on that typewrite took me back to my early years of typing. My Mum purchased a typewriter that size and I had to learn how to type properly if I was to use it. I was 14yrs old and used to spend my weekend doing typing drills (asdf;lkj). Heartwarming to reflect.

We are officially in Autumn now, but ironically Adelaide, South Australia is having one of it's hottest 35 degrees celcius weeks. I am so looking forward to the cosyness of cooler days.

I LOVE that lampshade, and your portable propane stove is charming! Dear sweet Wendy, You have such a lovely light! so sorry to hear about your mishap, Love and healing to you. Just found you a few weeks ago and I just wanted to say a Big THANKYOU !!! Your encouraging Inspiration has sparked a passion in me that I forgot I had! Art has been a part of my life from the time I could hold a crayon till now. see a long time ago early 70's I use to draw my little dollies. lots of them, drove my mom crazy, they were every where. then I grew up... Of Corse I paint, draw color, make journals, sew, needle work, scrap book, but always in little cracks of time. now retired I have given myself permission to Play Again, feels so good! I cant stop, and I wont!!!! those little girls came flooding back to me like a winter river! I am truly grateful I found you!!! love and light to you my kindred spirit!
So sorry for your loss. The fireplace stove is very nice. I do understand about your ordeal. I lost my husband and shortly after went in for both eye surgeries. I now am having a hard time wanting to drive even if I know I can. I have eye issues but am able to drive yet just have to push to get out weekly. It takes time. Be kind to yourself and take baby steps. We all heal at our own pace.

It made me so happy to see a video from you Wendy :) So sorry to hear about your accident. I know others have said the same thing, but years ago when I was learning to ride a motorbike I had an accident, fell off and hurt my leg a bit. My husband said, come on back up you get. I was very shaken, but am so glad that I did. I don't ride anymore but it was great advice at the time. I would not call myself a confident driver and don't drive at night, but saying that I would be lost if I didn't drive, especially living in a very small village. Wendy, you’ve had a lot of upheaval this last while. Looking for a place to live as where you were living just wasn’t a good fit, moving and everything that goes along with that. All the while, life continues with James working away, not feeling the best physically then a car accident. That’s a lot by anyone’s standards. Yet you continue to create beautiful art and run a business. You’ve got a lovely home studio now, where you know you can be inspired. You’ll come back to yourself in your own time. Spring is around the corner!

My very favorite car was a 2009 Honda CRV, loved loved loved that car and we had so many adventures in it. A gentleman tboned me, luckily on the passenger side with no one else in there with me! Poor thing was totaled and I've not been happy with a vehicle ever since. Have been a hesitant driver for a while now and bridges are a definite NO for me to drive or even look while riding. So I can commiserate. Love your channel. Take care.

I think that you are amazing going out at all in your car Wendy. I have not been out since January 2020. Just could not do it, with the anxiety. I used to love driving, but something changed, and I started chocking and being sick after about 10 mins of driving. So I sold my car, and I live in an isolated spot, and just have to order food etc on line. I really think that you have been very brave even going out again in your car, and want to say how proud I am of you, and I am sure the lovely James is too! xxx

I had a nasty little driving accident, car write-off, a few years back. I found the initial drive on my own, after, absolutely nerve-wracking, and I remember feeling completely nervous for months. Still to this day I brace (in the passenger and the driver seat) when someone pulls up at speed at a stop junction next to me travelling the main road. These little things remain, but you get used to them over time. Stay strong and patient with yourself.

I developed a phobia about driving and then about going far from home which lasted for many years. Once I could stop hiding in shame I finally got therapy and my life was transformed! I know that part of your healing is talking about it and you give others permission to be themselves as imperfect when you do. I am so sorry that you have a bit insecurity just now, but keep giving yourself kindness. You have a sweet spirit and your companion is amazing. So many of us that watch your videos are sending you thoughts of healing.

How would you feel about going out a couple of times with a compassionate driving instructor who has trained in helping people back onto the road?
What a lovely art space you've created. I love your new table. I used to work on our dining table. It was a lovely table with white legs and a nice wooden top that my hubby and son had brought back to life from a dreary old dark stained $50 2nd hand bargain. It was 1.8m long but, like you, I found the apron too deep and it got in the way of my legs and stopped armed chairs fitting under it. My mum was downsizing and I inherited her old table. It's 1.5m so a little shorter but it's slightly deeper and has a shorter apron set back in from the edge of the table. That makes so much difference to comfort and fitting armed chairs. I've no idea what it's made out of but it has a very smooth white top and the paint wipes off it really easily. It's not as pretty but much more functional as my art table and it leaves our dining table to be used for dining. I love your dresser but have too many windows and not enough walls in my space to be able to have one. I miss the one we had at our old house. My daughter and I share an art/sewing space and we're trying to figure out storage at the moment. We're currently in a bit of a mess 😄
Life is tough sometimes and it’s always nice to have a creative nest at home to retreat to.
