There were all sorts of ways to distort, compress or otherwise alter sounds, even in the pre-autotune days...think of John Lennon's voice in "Tomorrow Never Knows".
J - Another great vid of one of ZZ Top's best. You gotta check out Little Feat!! Dixie Chicken, Fat Man In the Bathtub, Willin', all great songs by a great band. đ
Thanks for taking me down memory lane on the daily. We had some much great music growing up in SouthTexas. This ZZ Top song was my brother's favorite song. I heard it a thousand times and it never gets old.
I'm so happy I found you! It's pure joy watching you get into the soundtrack of my many wonderful years!!! Back in the day I got to see ZZ Top perform many times. DeGuillo is my favorite of their albums.

I simply love a young man enjoying the shit I grew up with!
You should give a listen to "Blue jean Blues" by ZZ Top, one of my favorites by them!
You definitely need to review I Heard It on The X.
One of my favorite ZZ Top guitar solos. Wiggling the switch to make it sound like the strings are coming off.
YOU HAVE TO SEE THESE GUYS LIVE!!!! OUTSTANDING!!!!
