Alma Teaches the People of Gideon | Alma 7 | Book of Mormon

- Alma the younger goes to the city of Gideon to preach to the people. Alma prophesies of Jesus Christ, who will come into the world to redeem His people. Alma tells the people to repent and be born again to gain salvation. Many people in Gideon believe and are baptized by Alma the younger.
Based on Alma 5:53-55; Alma 7:3, 7, 10-17, 23-24.
Alma 5
53 And now my beloved brethren, I say unto you, can ye withstand these sayings; yea, can ye lay aside these things, and trample the Holy One under your feet; yea, can ye be puffed up in the pride of your hearts; yea, will ye still persist in the wearing of costly apparel and setting your hearts upon the vain things of the world, upon your riches?
54 Yea, will ye persist in supposing that ye are better one than another; yea, will ye persist in the persecution of your brethren, who humble themselves and do walk after the holy order of God, wherewith they have been brought into this church, having been sanctified by the Holy Spirit, and they do bring forth works which are meet for repentance-
55 Yea, and will you persist in turning your backs upon the poor, and the needy, and in withholding your substance from them?
Alma 7
3 And behold, I have come having great hopes and much desire that I should find that ye had humbled yourselves before God, and that ye had continued in the supplicating of his grace, that I should find that ye were blameless before him, that I should find that ye were not in the awful dilemma that our brethren were in at Zarahemla.
7 For behold, I say unto you there be many things to come; and behold, there is one thing which is of more importance than they all-for behold, the time is not far distant that the Redeemer liveth and cometh among his people.
10 And behold, he shall be born of Mary, at Jerusalem which is the land of our forefathers, she being a virgin, a precious and chosen vessel, who shall be overshadowed and conceive by the power of the Holy Ghost, and bring forth a son, yea, even the Son of God.
11 And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people.
12 And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities.
13 Now the Spirit knoweth all things; nevertheless the Son of God suffereth according to the flesh that he might take upon him the sins of his people, that he might blot out their transgressions according to the power of his deliverance; and now behold, this is the testimony which is in me.
14 Now I say unto you that ye must repent, and be born again; for the Spirit saith if ye are not born again ye cannot inherit the kingdom of heaven; therefore come and be baptized unto repentance, that ye may be washed from your sins, that ye may have faith on the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sins of the world, who is mighty to save and to cleanse from all unrighteousness.
15 Yea, I say unto you come and fear not, and lay aside every sin, which easily doth beset you, which doth bind you down to destruction, yea, come and go forth, and show unto your God that ye are willing to repent of your sins and enter into a covenant with him to keep his commandments, and witness it unto him this day by going into the waters of baptism.
16 And whosoever doeth this, and keepeth the commandments of God from thenceforth, the same will remember that I say unto him, yea, he will remember that I have said unto him, he shall have eternal life, according to the testimony of the Holy Spirit, which testifieth in me.
17 And now my beloved brethren, do you believe these things? Behold, I say unto you, yea, I know that ye believe them; and the way that I know that ye believe them is by the manifestation of the Spirit which is in me. And now because your faith is strong concerning that, yea, concerning the things which I have spoken, great is my joy.
23 And now I would that ye should be humble, and be submissive and gentle; easy to be entreated; full of patience and long-suffering; being temperate in all things; being diligent in keeping the commandments of God at all times; asking for whatsoever things ye stand in need, both spiritual and temporal; always returning thanks unto God for whatsoever things ye do receive.
24 And see that ye have faith, hope, and charity, and then ye will always abound in good works.

Such a beautiful testimony of Jesus Christ and his purpose. I especially loved the depiction of the people being baptized and the joy they felt. How great would have been their joy to come unto Christ as a group like that. It just would have been multiplied!
Hallelujah!! We have been blessed to have the gospel restored upon the earth in our day! What an absolute gift and blessing this is, especially in this crazy time that we are living in.

Impressive. It's such a short video, but it "makes you feel." I suppose for some, they will not let themselves feel. Or others because they will esteem it as little worth or nonsense, they won't understand and they will not feel. Though sometimes even those who do not understand, do feel the goodness of this kind of good news. Thanks for the video.

The people of Gideon were able to maintain a level of righteousness which was a tribute to Gideon himself, whom the city was named after he being the same one who came from the land of Lehi-Nephi with Limhi and his people.

I have a serious question : can someone explain to me why the indian americans were not christians when Christopher Colombus came where as they already received the teachings of many prophets and Christ himself?
It's explained in the Book of Mormon, they were forced to either deny Christ or be killed. But they did know of him, they know of him as The Great Spirit!

I don't understand what is supposed to be impressive.Nothing new here : all this have alrealy been said and taught 2000 years before in the bible.

Well, I like the videos, and I do respect the Mormons, however I have not seen any evidence what so ever for this faith. No historical, no archeological, nothing at all. (that's a little weird right?)

Dressed stone wasn't used by the Native Americans in North America, despite what the film depicts, and so there is nothing left of the inhabitants of 2000 years ago. Certainly, no writing. No empirical proof in the least. Mormonism has some good ideas, but their wisdom comes from far older religions or is completely unsupported by anything at all. Depending. Take your pick.

This "profect" is a clone of the Ap. Paul. The JS, knew very well the Paul's teaching and put that in the book of Mórmon. The bible is the true history of God and his profects
