I also don’t understand all the “spider” marketing. Like spiders had nothing to do with this season. Did they even know where the show was going when they started filming?
Considering it was based off a book, you think this season would have panned out better.

Spiders and snakes usually are meant to represent Satan or smth satanic. Like the snakes in Apocalypse. Also, it was to mislead the viewer at first abt what the baby is

AHS is infamous for building suspense and questions until we reach the final episodes and realise the writers have no clue what they are doing...over and over and over again.
What went wrong was FX cutting out alot of filmed death scenes to make money from ads. The finale would have been great if FX didnt chop half of it away.

Wow, did FX and Murphy really scrap a lot of footage for the #AHSDelicate Finale? I can't believe they decided to go with such a short run-time for the finale episode, but I'm dying to know what else was left on the cutting room floor. The potential for this season was unreal, but maybe the writers' strike had something to do with it. Regardless, I'm still left wondering what could have been with #AHS Season 12.

They took forever with the travels and Kim and friends showing their freak side was just over it by the time she kept talking and talking … like leave some mystery and shit off the dialog
As someone who’s read _Delicate Condition_ by Danielle Valentine, I have thoughts.
First, I liked the book. It wasn’t revolutionary or anything, but the atmosphere is strong, the message is fairly consistent, and the twisty plot is mostly without holes. Speaking of those twists:
The big reveal at the end of the book is that the coven of witches that supposedly terrorize Anna are actually good. Her _husband_ is the bad guy-a cheater who lets another woman into her bed and gaslights her (it’s just as obvious in the book what’s going on)-along with the medical establishment, who don’t take Anna’s concerns seriously and treat her as just another paranoid, hysterical pregnant woman. Essentially, the book’s one big metaphor for the misogyny pregnant women face.
Reading the twist, I just knew Ryan Murphy would mess everything up. _AHS_ is a show that has very rarely had a “consistent” season. Even the seasons we love (like Coven or 1984) become completely different stories from the first episode to the last. That doesn’t make them bad, but in order to still make sense, _Delicate_ needed to handle the material, well, _delicately_.
For starters, the witches in _Delicate Condition_ ARE NOT EVIL. They act sus, and don’t tell Anna what’s going on until the end, but they’re a society of healers who help women become pregnant and have been using their folk medicine/magic for centuries. (This is a part of the book I can’t get behind-it seems to support “alternative” medical practices.) A large part of the tension of the book comes from Anna thinking the witches mean her harm and believing the baby inside her is something evil. (She imagines a spider crawling out of her womb.) As the story goes on, she can’t tell whether the people stalking her on the street are fans of her TV show or members of the coven.
The tension of the story is completely undermined by *showing* the spooky cult. Through flashbacks we see them do undeniably evil things, making the twist of the book impossible. Because AHS can’t restrain themselves to having witches acting nice! A lot of other holdovers from the book, like the doll from Spellbound and the recurring spider imagery, are completely disregarded. It feels like they read the book, kept the imagery, and completely butchered the plot itself-a plot which already wasn’t very complicated.
Edit: for all those complaining about a lack of deaths, the books also sidesteps Dex’s car accident and tells a lot of the story from Anna’s perspective only.
The finale felt rushed. The big reveal came in the last episode. They could have dragged it out for at least 3.

Fun fact, in the first episode at Anna, Dex, Thalia and his wife's dinner, Thalia says that "She still feeling Adeline's spirit around them" and asks the others if they don't feel the same, being a clue about how the season ends, it seems like Adeline was present all season looking for the right moment to take her revenge 👀👀

Honestly, when I heard this season was based off a book and had Kim Kardashian, I didnt even bother watching it. This shouldnt even be called AHS anymore.
I started watching your reviews and the first few episode reviews I was like "Okay, this feels predictable and some stuff is shoe horned in, but doesnt mean it'll be bad".

things have really gone down hill since double feature. they just need to work on a new season long story and stop doing this weird stuff like taking a 6 month breaks or doing what they did in double feature with the 2 stories.

The question I was left with was " Is that the same show that produced Murder House and Asylum?" The last three seasons are just horrendous ..... lets just have season 13 and finish with that monstrosity that this show has become.
The apocalypse finale and the way michael was killed was honestly PERFECT for me. I thought the parallels between him and the way Addie died in Murder House and Constance choosing not to save her child, tied in murder house and coven masterfully.

love your reviews!! i’m honestly just so sad at ahs’s downfall the past few seasons.
The last 3 seasons were terrible and extremely disappointing. The storylines just felt flat. Like there was so much potential but no substance at all. Like I didn’t mind NYC but I thought it was gonna do so much more with the gimp mask ghost… double feature needed better writers and some of the acting stunk to high heaven. And delicate…had 1 and a half watchable episodes.. the one with Adeline and half of the last episode. Every other episode had me taking out my phone to check reviews.
So I found this on Reddit:
In episode 7, the witches circle Adeline, Ivy says "You have no power other than what she gives you" then Sonia says "and takes away". So Adeline had power, it got taken away by Siobhan once she left the cult, which explains why the chant failed for her at the restaurant, because she didn't have power.
Siobhan later gives Anna power when she accepts the baby and is given the green heels. Anna is able to cast the chant/ ritual at Siobhan with the power Siobhan gave her.
You could tell that they had big things planned for this season but the writers strike last year put a end to all of that and the season ended up suffering becuse of it and might go down as the worst AHS season ever
The writing has been a problem for the past couple of seasons now, but Delicate hit a new low. I wouldn't be surprised if the next season will end up being written (or "helped") by AI.
I know a lot of ppl hate the finale and I definitely think it could’ve been miles better but I kinda look at Anna defeating Siobhan in the same way I look at Suzy defeating the coven of witches in Suspiria (1977) there was a build up and then she faces the head ancient witch and then she runs out of the collapsing building and it just kinda ends
I adore the finale. It was gruesome, there was action, beautiful cinematography, sick deaths, great explanations and it made sense. My only gripe with this entire season is not fleshing out Adeline. Why didn’t she like Sonia? The finale could’ve been better but for a 31 minute runtime I think they did their best and I loved it
I honestly enjoyed this episode the goriness of it and visually. Yes it was short and the ending was classic AHS surrealism type ending where nothing really matters but I liked parts of this episode especially visually

I agree, I remember watching Murder House when it first premiered in 2011 and by episode 2 when they had the home invasion that paid homage to Sharon Tate and the horrible Manson murders, I knew it was going to be a good show. I think seasons 1 to 5 were the best honestly.

My problem with this season was I was left with more questions than with answers. Like it never really talked about Siobhan and what is she or how she became. They also never got into her minions. I also would have liked more background on Ms. preacher because that storyline went nowhere. Also I think the dolls, were suppose to be voodoo dolls as they were used to gaslight and control Anna.
The season was supposed to be completely different, however the strike caused us to get the season we got. After the strike ended they filmed the final 2 episodes and only had the cast for 3 days due to their availability. So they basically filmed one full hour long episode and split it into 2 episodes to fill the 9 episode order by FX. A lot was left on the cutting room floor. The show is commissioned through season 13 and could possibly end there. I don’t think this was the worst season of AHS by far, it’s was a solid 7/10 for me but with this cast they really could have given us something incredible!
All of the Kim K promo videos they keep releasing were filmed while she was doing Hulu commentary videos for KUWTK because AHS is also on Hulu. So I think the casts schedule restrictions after the strike and the rush to hand in the season to FX by the deadline just really impacted the whole experience. Thank you for your videos!!

The only thing i liked about the ending is the the "good" twin was involved in killing off her former cult members who had killed her.
Like, I am so glad I stopped purchasing these seasons on Google TV. Cause I was excited for Double Feature; left disappointed. Was excited for NYC; left disappointed. And I didn't even bother purchasing Delicate because I wanted to see how bad the season overall was going to be. And unfortunately, "it's very bad" is the answer. It's time for Ryan Murphy to retire this series and focus on other projects. Because ever since he expanded into other things, it's obvious his passion for AHS died after 1984.
Why would all the girls combine their powers & stand against Siobhan since they all were terrorized by her before joining the cult?
I still wanted to know what was kim character? Where she came from? And how old is she alive? And the mia farrow and sheryl tate pop up was something just there to fill time

She was one of the highlights of this season truly, some of her line deliveries were fantastic and hilarious, you could tell she was genuinely having fun with the part.
Eh, she's passable for the quality of this show, but she was basically playing herself.

I really enjoyed parts of this season, but I hated how rushed it felt. I wish there was more backstory on Siobhan being that she is the main witch, and all of the other witches like you said. The episodes should have been twice as long. So much was left out-but I really was so into this season when watching it.

Annabelle Dexter jones would’ve been a great Siobhan. Both Adeline and Sonja felt like two completely different people.

Yeah I'm not sure why they cut this season from the normal AHS season of 10 episodes to 9. I feel like they really needed another episode or at least episode 9 to have an extra long runtime to wrap everything up. It felt rushed and left alot of unanswered questions.

I just can't but wonder, and has been on the top of my mind while watching this season, why did this season only have one writer instead having the usual 6-10 writers? Btw I love your videos. And the finale I liked it a bit, but I agree the finale was a bit dissatisfying.

I thought the writer was doing pretty good for being a lone writer in the middle of the writer strike, until the finale.
It seems like they left alot up to speculation & mystery when it comes to these characters’ backstories. I think the main thing the season does almost strictly is to show us anna’s point of view. & she doesnt know much about the cultists either so i think we basically know what she knows. They went for a very subtle storytelling this season, which almost begs for more at times, but is deliberately left up to interpretation. Much like manny coto’s writing for the show
It just felt like it floundered well into the second half. Then it went rapid fire in the last two episodes. Why didn’t they spread some of the reveals out a little better? I’m guessing this had something to do with the writers strike.
There wasn’t anything else to watch, so I watched it. But I forgot about it and only remembered there would be a second half after the entire second half aired.
I think the idea for the season was pretty good. But by the time we got some answers, I forgot the questions.

Finally watched the finale and I was wondering the same thing about Dex like THAT’S how he “died?” Weird. But I’m not super disappointed by this for some reason. The coven was pretty goofy though. It was better keeping them more elusive and I think a more interesting storyline would’ve been Adeline’s or having episode 7 be a midpoint or closer to the beginning. Oh well.
That finale was all fluff, and not done well. I would have liked more of an explanation on who everybody was, more motives more story. Even if they only replaced the awkward breathy singing with that. And this general feeling about the finale is kind of how I feel about Kim's acting. When she was having a conversation with somebody, I thought she was incredible. When she delivered lines that were more catchphrasey, I felt embarrassed to be watching.

And Siobhan being Dex's mother was hinted in Ep 7 when his father was copulating with the witch with the heart necklace (Siobhan).
When I went on Hulu and saw 31 minutes for the finale and was like wtfff

Oh, boy. As hopeful as I was to grasp many of the hinted explanations of the storyline, i was sorely dissappointed. What meeting was Emma in when she met Kim? AA? Who was Emma supposed to be when she donned Kim's Halloween feather hat? Did all the clan die when Kim did? What did the entire season have to do with spiders? I had hoped this season would get back to the stuff we enjoyed like in Cult. But no. This was a season where I will never get back any of the time I wasted watching it. Fargo was a much more worthwhile series. Not horror specifically, but better sll around.

Had the best finales in that order but that’s pushing it.
This show has been running on steam and desperation for the last 5 years but as a OG watcher I just power on in pain. Also, Murphy said all the seasons connect yet I haven’t still not figured out how seasons 10, 11 and 12 connect with anything. Ugh😮💨 Just put it out of its misery.
Very disappointed with how it ended
The second half of the season was kinda interesting, even if rushed, but Siobhan's death, with the christian cliche, undoes the whole season. I get they were trying to imply Anna yearns to take her place but it's so unearned, I think the implication that Siobhan was Satan herself is much better

the writer’s strike was mostly to ensure protection against AI, better compensation for writers, and larger writers rooms that allow more opportunities for writers.
the actor’s strike, similarly, strove for protection against AI and digital actors, establishing residuals for streaming, and better compensation.
but both strikes had much more at stake as well
This season makes me think back to the time where I think freak show just came out? And Ryan was like “we have every season pre planned, we have years worth in the vault” but why have these ideas dwindled since? Is it the mentality to keep on trend with people? Are attention spans shortening or is it time to give AHS to some new people who don’t feel the need to give the better stories to the AHStories!
season 13 could 10 episodes I feel that
Skyler, the problem for me was the exposition dump at the end. I felt so...cheated? I know you (like me) have seen all of the seasons. I have some favorites, like the Witches. They are by far my favorite story line. But Asylum is very close.
This season has NONE of the story beats, or slow burn moments that other seasons had.
The episodes before the long break, had me intrigued. Then it just went further downhill. The book is not much better. Don't bother with it.
I enjoyed the season… but it felt confusing and rushed throughout…. Everything was explained too quickly and not even in a smooth way. Like the girl who the husband was cheating with.. wrapping it all up was very convenient.
Well, as you point out in your other videos, the writers’ room usually has 5-9 writers and this has one. Then add “stunt casting” and the way AHS treated the writers’ strike…it’s a hot mess. The book was so much better. Why not use the book more than 25%? Double Feature and Delicate ended the same for me because both times I was like “That’s it?”. They both just end with a whimper.
Do you think Babette was a witch or was proposed to become one? I was thinking about similarities with Adeline and her friend (the brunette one) who betrayed her, and how Siobhan seems to recruit women to mess with Anna's sanity.
I loved this season, and I enjoyed the last episode even though I didn't expect to do so. There was horror the first half of the episode. Emma's acting was brutal. The second half was so AHS ending: calm, quite boring.
✓ loved that they sing Sooner or Later once again. Loved the connotation of the lyrics (like dropping the "sooner or later you're gonna be mine" hint in front of you since day one), and how it felt (at least for me) that the cycle was ending.
Can't stop thinking about: What was Preech's purpose in kissing Anna when her mouth was sealed in ep1??? Did I miss something??? Or are just inconsistencies of book vs tv show?
What was the purpose of taking Dex's mom bl00d? The Ashleys had so much potential and got lost all of the sudden.

I don’t even like the fact that this was based on the movie Rosemary’s baby. The storyline was the same.
I honestly can’t think of an AHS season with a good finale. For years now I’ve expected seasons to start really strong and have bloated and/or messy endings.

This certain season didn't even live up to the title of the series. Debatable of it was even horror (not unlike NYC and Death Valley) and a quite questionable how this whole sequence (especially part 2) can be seen as a continuous, coherent story that I cared for. It is telly when the strongest episode of the season is the one that is collage of flashbacks and serves as a backstory.

No, Kim was great, perfect casting. The only thing I can think of is that Botox in her forehead prevented her from being a little bit more expressive

My ideal AHS12 finale is:
- The whole season is "The Auteur", Anna's film. It was shoot like the video of "Bachelorette", by Bjork (but as if directed by Mark Polonia and starring Sheri Moon Zombie...😂);
- The whole cast would come for curtain call, and meet Ryan Murphy and Danielle Valentine. But the latter was so furious with this shitty adaptation and kill everyone with a machine gun;
- The epilogue is Anna (now played by Taylor Richardson), the final girl, waking up in a hospital from a long coma and calling herself Maddison.
But for real, this season was a mess. Kim Kardashian was the real protagonist, for good or bad, and the rest was miscasted. I felt ashamed for Dennis O'Hare, MJ Rodriguez and Cara Delevigne, they deserved better storylines.
If they should've reworked "Suspiria" or "Night By Day", or even "Inland Empire", it'd be great - but we got what we deserved...
Anyway, I'll be back for season 13, of course.😅

I'm not a Kim fan, but Cara Delevigne was the real disappointment here. Siobhan was a little 3-dimensional, everybody knows a bitch like her in real life. But Ivy is meaningless, even when she gave birth to the twin girls. Cora was more realistic than her!
For sure I agree with the video he most of the stuff you talk about and I'm agreeing with but one thing I don't understand is why the hell did they have to rush the ending like that like it was definitely rushed. Not to mention I don't feel like there's much references to linking it to the other seasons and we all know that is what American horror story does they have a link between every single episode of this little universe I didn't find very many Links that were obvious.... Not to mention the huge break they took in between like why was it Necessary it's a takes such a huge long break and then deliver an incredibly disappointing ending that really didn't make too much sense except you're supposed to spell that killed off Kim K the goddess LOL because honestly why didn't Dexter's ex-wife Adelaide simply say the spell to her? Because she was one of them at 1 time? It would probably make sense to mention that there's just so many plot holes...
I just got bored of this season it wasn’t my favorite i liked season 11 but I hated this one it felt very rushed in pacing
i expected the ending to be as bad as it was...they wasting so much time in the first half of the season going nowhere. if thye paced it correctly we wouldnt end up with a final ep of expositions after expositions - oh and flashbacks.... not to mention setting stuff up like those dolls and not explaining things. but i honestly expect this because this is how it is with ryan murphy productions. i just take it as it is.
