Great video! 1980, taking the 11A through Alexandria, and driver "Cigar Man". I was 10 at the time, took the bus home everyday, and he was the best driver ever.
I lived In DMV Area As A Pre Teen and Teenager In The Early 1990's I Remember Most of The Buses Featured Here, The Fairfax Connector Was .25 cents Back Then
You certainly have a set for boldly going where few have dared to go - Prince Georges County's "DUH BUS" system. At least it's proof that you know you have a joke of a system when your best looking buses are Gilligs...
I sure miss the old pre-Metrobus DC Transit "Arcticooler GMs" and WMA Transit Company days!!!! The fishbowls that WMATA inherited from them were the best buses they ever had.
I miss the old Flixible fishbowls, new looks aka grumman and of course the Metro B's,D's and E's but I have to say the pics between 1:05 to 1:15 hurt lol. Then there is the thing that I miss the old Color Scheme from the 80's and 90's
the best trains WMATA eva purchased were the "original BREDA's"... series 2000 and 3000 were re-manned by ALSTOM and soon e-nuff there will be no more BREDA's cuz the 4000 series are due for rehabilitation in a little more than a year or so. i thought i was crazy, but there is actually somebody else out there that does this same shyt... WTF???
Yeah we used to call them space buses. The bought them in the middle '80's they had no power at all. They could not get out of their own way. Put one on Georgia Road and you got of late everyday, some time a half hour late, could not stand to operate one of those.
