    Here is an update. It’s sept 2022 and we have been running five shows a week. For the most part it’s been great for the price. I have 8 universes going at the same time and all are 75 percent full. Only thing. I have to set the setting to “continua” dmx. So it sends a signal all the time.

      Hi. I am having issues with the program and the Artnet to dmx, it is unresponsive sometimes and I have to click between two colors on the layout for it to actually change the color on the fixtures this happens with any dmx command you mention a setting could this fix it? where is the "continua" option you mention? Thanks!

    Please don't set up same IP for the node and the console/mac/pc. Always use individual addresses for each devices.

    • @TheBoomBoomRoomStLouis
      @TheBoomBoomRoomStLouis  Před 3 lety

      Can you explain that better, so as an example would that be, computer, 2.0.0.1, the artnet device, 2.0.0.2?

    • @kisstamas1985
      @kisstamas1985 Před 3 lety +1

      @@TheBoomBoomRoomStLouis Yes, it's a good setup. The point is to never use the same address.
      Use mask 255.0.0.0, if you use it this way, the first number must match, the others must differ in at least one place.
      Find some network addressing manual for more information.

      @@kisstamas1985 Thank you, so for anyone reading, change the last number. I was taught like, Country, State, Street,Adress, where the last number is address, make sure you change the address as everyone should live on the same street. So if your computer is 255.0.0.1, make the other devices, 255.0.0.2 or three or four don't change the first three numbers. And thank you so much

      use this:
      device 1:
      ip: 2.0.0.1
      mask: 255.0.0.0
      device 2:
      ip: 2.0.0.2
      mask: 255.0.0.0
      (mask always same, ip always unique)
      but yes, the analogy is correct.

      As a network engineer, each device must have it's own address. so yes, 2.0.0.1 and 2.0.0.2. Avoid using addresses that start with 255, 128 or 0, as those are reserved. Avoid using addresses that end in 0 or 255, as those are also reserved for many cases. Set your subnet mask to the same 255.255.255.0 on all devices you wish to communicate, this dictates that the broadcast address for your 2.0.0.0 network is 2.0.0.255, and that the available addresses in your range (dictated by the netmask) is 2.0.0.1 through 2.0.0.255. Don't set the default route to anything (since you only want to communicate on this local network (not outside of it)).

    But can ths V-show Node ARD work same way with GrandMa2 OnPC software?

      No you would need to use one of the Ma2 nodes.

    Visualizer and Pixel mapping for free! I am sold.. Does it have Midi learn?

    • @TheBoomBoomRoomStLouis
      @TheBoomBoomRoomStLouis  Před 3 lety

      I have been using this now to get ready for our shows in Jan 2021, and here is what I know. The "artnet device" is working very very solid. Its hard to set up but anything networking when your a novice like me is. The free light program created by chamysys for lighting is incredible. And for dmx lighting this device or a similar and their free software download is incredible. The pixel mapping, is good, and I have not had a chance to truly jump in and figure it out, mostly because we are building the venue and I have not had a chance to really get in and change the light, but what I have done has been really cool. Now the visualizer has been great. But also it has a magicHD program. Its still in beta and feels like it, I am struggling with that. It has bugs, but I know if they can make the great light stuff eventually they will work out the video. for now, its a challenge.

    • @TheBoomBoomRoomStLouis
      @TheBoomBoomRoomStLouis  Před 3 lety

      Sorry i did not answer the original question, i dont know what midi learn is. But it does a million things, so I do know you can make a scened or many scenes a million ways, and can dmx in. Just google chamsys magicq, download the free softwere, start reading the manual.

    • @AlvarArming
      @AlvarArming Před 3 lety

      It does, but I believe you'd need a license for that. They don't want to give you all the features for free up front.

    • @jthunderbass1
      @jthunderbass1 Před 3 lety +2

      It has the ability to do midi, but you have to buy things to do that.
      There is a USB stick that you need to buy that would open up all options, but that is like $700.
      You are better off buying a fader wing from Chamsys in order to do midi commands. You can use a touchscreen monitor and put the execute page on that external monitor and that could act as a midi controller.

    I can help you setup wireless, essentially buy yourself a cheep router and setup the router address (usually the gateway) as 2.0.0.1, and subnet mask as 255.255.255.0 Then connect the DMX-8 Artnet input to one of the ports on the router but NOT the WAN port. Connect to the router via wireless or LAN and enter the IP of the device into your software and voila it should work.
