  • French Contrast Training for Lower Body Explosiveness🚀 #ThrowbackVideo
This style of training combines the methods of complex training (heavy movement followed by an explosive movement) and contrast training(Near Max effort lift followed by a higher velocity set with rest in between) to help build strength, speed and power by utilizing what's known as “Post Activation Potentiation.” I’ve come across this concept a few times before, but read about it more thoroughly in the Triphasic Training Book By Cal Dietz, and I have been a fan of incorporating into my workouts to improve me vertical jump!
So here’s how a set is done:
    1) Heavy Strength Exercise(Trap Bar Deadlift)
2)Plyometric Exercise that mimics a similar movement pattern(Seated Box Jumps)
    3) A Drop Set of the Strength Exercise For Speed or Resisted Plyometric(DB Weighted Jumps)
    4)Accelerated Plyometrics(Band Assisted Pogo Jumps)
French Contrast Training can be used for lower body and upper body to help improve different aspects of performance such as jumping, sprint and throwing depending on exercise selection. This method should not be used for a novice level athlete when it comes to their training age. It’s important to have established a good foundational level of strength and competency in the weight room for safety and maximal results!
