  • Redesigned from the inside out, experience the new Vision® SLR from Federal Signal. It is obvious as soon as you see the Vision SLR that it was engineered for safety. The distinct non-linear shape and exclusive Solaris SLR (Solaris LED Rotating Reflector) provide a maximum of 360-degrees of light output not achieved by a linear lightbar. Vision SLR maximizes light output to help clear the roadway in critical traffic intersections.

    A brilliant concept, only need a brighter cob unit as well as daylight sunlight grabbing reflectors to really punch the lights effective range and voila a brilliant lightbar to rival the rest, as love these bars and want a amber variant for my range rover

    The LAST of the mechanical light bars. This was the tip of the iceberg of the good old rotater bars. After this everything went pure LED. LED bars are a fraction of the cost, much brighter, and can do almost infinite pasterns and even imitate the rotating bars LOL!! But, nothing beats the flash and pattern of a rotating light.

      I agree the Streethawk would be made so much better if they upgraded it using this technology. I've always liked the Streethawk bar and I used them back in the late 1980's when I worked security. Our Streethawk bars had green lenses and the takedown and alley lights were VERY bright.

    The 30 patterns shown fill most police requirements. But for the California market, can symmetrical color patterns also be accommodated, along with red IMPAXX HotFoots forward and SignalMaster aft (per 13 CCR 818)?

    I really would like to know why the SLR reflectors were designed with such a narrow window of effectiveness. I mean the light is concentrated in such a tight window that if you're anywhere above or below where that sweep of the rotator flashes the light it renders the light bar completely ineffective.

    I want very much for FS to make a compact 360° magnet-mount LED beacon that uses the SpectraLux technology for red/white/blue patterns to all directions! This would be ideal for a POV or unmarked unit! Maybe a single-pod version of this that could do red/white/blue/amber, as well as directional flood lighting!

      NYPD uses,
      Slide position one is pattern three.
      Slide position two is not shown. But all rotators rotate at the same speed full 360.
      Slide position three is pattern six.

    Unfortunately, these lightbars aren't worth the money they are totally useless in the bright sunlight,we have a department here that had 2 of these donated to them to try out and both cars were totaled out within a month of each other,going through intersections and you guessed it the other drivers said they didn't see the lights

    • @mikel9567
      @mikel9567 Před 9 lety +9

      spoda81 I would highly doubt that the lightbars were ineffective in bright sunlight. First off they meet all certifications which means they have been tested in bright sunlight among other conditions. Second, there are other factors that are likely the cause. I would look at the installation and programming to ensure everything was installed properly and functioning. I would look at the officers and ensure that they used their siren and properly cleared the intersection. Running lights and sirens doesn't absolve the officer / responder from wrong should they be involved in a collision. They still must drive with due regard. Most states will hold the officer / responder responsible if it is proven they "blew" the intersection. Lots of other variables in effect but I strongly doubt the lightbar is the cause of the collision. By the way, as someone who as investigated dozens of collisions involving emergency vehicles, the citizen will always say they didn't see or hear the emergency vehicle - no matter how bright the lights or loud the siren.

    • @aaronballeck3153
      @aaronballeck3153 Před 5 lety +2

      I agree with spoda81. I have seen these in bright daytime light. Left lots to be desired. Cool light. Just not highly eyecatching

      @westerlywinds5684 Před rokem

      They should at least have heard the siren.

  • @jean-claudemuller4746

    I don’t know, a lightbar that is a solution to an nonexistant problem. A waste of money in research. On the other side Federal has so many top other lightbars.

  • @satan6169
    @satan6169 Před 7 lety +1

    This is a great idea for a light bar that was poorly executed especially for off axis lighting these light bars are so dim and are not attention-getting in any way whatsoever that they actually act as a detriment to your safety and at $5,000 per bar they are completely useless and an absolute fail and federal signal should be disappointed at a job not well done when most of their other lighting equipment is excellent but the design of this SLR reflector is useless.
