I literally just did this to mine. I bypassed all of the stock stuff though because it sucks. I went to Oreilly and got rubber hose and bypassed everything and drilled holes through the floor and rear fenders and rand it through the holes. Now the water just goes straight down and through the lines and out the bottom of the H3. Works great! Even if you replace the stock grommets, they made the openings too small. I wanted a bulletproof no BS solution so I just made my own hoses
that's 100% the best way! even the stock ones are quite small tubes, and depending on your environment where you live they have the potential to just get jammed up again
Good video, as you show a lot of details the 100 other on this topic missed. I did mine a couple years ago, and thought it was a shame I didn't do a video as there were a couple things I hadn't yet seen. One, is how to easily get to the rear drain tray, and you did this well. The other thing was some recommend blowing air into the holes to clear them, which is a bad idea as it could pop the hose out from it's fitting and in my case I think the prior owner did this as the hose was out and water running freely inside the headliner. To avoid this again, before closing up the headliner I used zip-ties to secure each hose tightly to it's fitting on the drain tray.
I agree, the hoses weren't connected very well together it was pretty much loose, i think that any air in there would blow them apart, even if the line was clear depending on psi. I suspected mine were clogged but i didn't imagine they'd be this bad lol it's rained since and the inside is still dry, so i think my other possible leak spots like roof rivets are good.
that could be it then! it's kind of a mess and quite daunting to have most of the interior ripped apart but once it's fixed, it's quite rewarding to sit in there when it's raining, and feel like you've accomplished something
If your sunroof is non- functional or you want to don't want to go through the trouble of retrofitting the drain pipes. Get yourself a roll of 5x6 clear vinyl wrap and just seal the sunroof off.
I had to take off the sunvisors and the holysh*t handles, and then pull some of the plastic molding off, like around where sunroof is. the front headliner after that just kind of sags down. once the sunvisors are off you'll kind of see how it works, there's not much holding it up, oh and the a-pillars. goodluck!
I wonder what the best way to dry and clean that front carpet. We're about to venture into fixing up our H3 and while it was sitting for a couple years or so. Apparently, it's been enjoying rain and snow and has all kinds of wetness and interesting stuff growing. lol
if you're fixing it up a bit, pull the front seats out, they're heavy, but only held in with 4 bolts. then you'll be able to raise/lift the carpet for air flow. hell even a hair dryer underneath would help lol
@bloodyKnucklesGarage oh hot damn. 4 bolts!? Hah, yeah,we will be doing that for sure. Lots a thin layer of mold from clogged drains and everything. Lol
@@warmad2596 awww man that sucks. might want a peroxide / water mix as well, or even straight 5% hydrogen peroxide on there , it'll kill any biological stuff and fizzle if it's bad
very possible! can be difficult for some though if the line has split apart into 2 tubes in the middle of the A-pillar or the line has come off of the sunroof nipple

THAT'S THE OTHER THING ABOUT THE RESIDENT EVIL H3 FIELD CMDR.
SHE'S NOT A
RUSTY HUSSY😂😂😂
I DO LIKE WHAT YOU DID WITH THE DRAINAGE
TUBING...
thanks! it's rained pretty hard since then and inside is dry so far
Thank you so much I have a 07 H3 and I’m finding my rear seat belts wet and rear passenger floor wet when it rains.

a good workaround! also still lets you get some sunshine through the sunroof
Hey how did you get the front part of the headliner off? About to do this to mine and would love to properly do it without breaking anything

@bloodyKnucklesGarage oh,thanks for the advice.
Boop! 😂🏆

YUP, INFLUENCED BY THE RESIDENT EVIL H3 FIELD CMDR.
I did it without taking anything apart in the front hard but possible
very possible! can be difficult for some though if the line has split apart into 2 tubes in the middle of the A-pillar or the line has come off of the sunroof nipple
Good vid, thanks.
hope it helped to give a different view of things, mine were pretty messed up
@@bloodyKnucklesGarage Definitely helped
Ugh I have to do my rear onew too. I did the front's last fall. The hoses weren't even connected lol... Such a poorly designed truck.
just seems crazy it was never updated in later models, it had to be a known flaw at some point ... and something so simple to change at the factory
