I think I would definitely work on making a way to seal the place better now that the insects are (hopefully) removed. Maybe building a guardhouse ontop of the hatch, or some kind of baffle around the seams.

going by the governments testing during the cold war, you need ALOT of concrete to attenuate the Gamma and Neutron Radiation from a nuclear blast. Based on the data, you get OK attenuation from 2 feet of concrete, but Optimal survivability requires at least 4-6 feet thick of concrete barrier between the survivor and the radiation source. The radiation dissipates at a rate based on the inverse square of the distance from the source, basically, the farther you are from the source the less radiation dose you get. Attenuation of that dose can be achieved through barriers such as concrete, earth, water, lead or other high density materials. It appears that the bunker has a 6-10" concrete roof on it. That will attenuate the radiation about 10-15% compared being in the entry area. Not very much. So in case of a close hit, you might as well just stand outside and watch the light show. If its 30-50 miles away, it should provide great protection from radiation, but that door will have to go. Ideally you need 2 doors. A double wall Heavy Steel door constructed of 1/4" Plate steel with a 3" cavity filled with high density concrete that has the ability to produce an air tight seal. You would need overpressure protection in the form of blast valves. the Blast door should open into a small air tight air lock with its own air supply, shower and changing room. The main structure should have Its own air supply with approved filtration as well. Something like this is only meant to get you thru the 1-2 week period of time after a blast while the most dangerous radioactive compounds are airborn. After a couple of weeks those radioactive elements have decayed to less dangerous elements. Once that time passes you need to put on a radiation suit with air supply, and evacuate to a more permanent shelter, deeper underground for 6 months to a year, or completely leave the area, if there is a safe area to go to. In the event of a global nuclear war with extensive exchange, the best thing to do is just pull up a lawn chair and wait to be nuked, because survival is not something you will enjoy.
