Very informative video. I have the Lowepro roller case, best thing Iâve ever purchased for my camera gear since having a bout of sciatica carrying the weight over my shoulder. Stay safe Mark and keep churning out these vids. Best channel on here đ

Hey, Mark! Great video, as usual! Greetings from Mexico City!
Hiđđ» Thank you. I hope you are keeping well in Mexico!
Keep the vids coming. There is so much more to shooting, than just pressing the button on the right. See you on the sidelines soon.
Hi Sean. Hope your keeping well. Getting back on those sidelines canât come quick enough! Thereâs a SR name check in one of these videos, have you spotted it yetđđđ»
Thanks for your videos. I really like the fact that you are still using older camera. Many of the CZcams video-/photography channels keep on hyping new cameras. You are prime example that great photos can be taken with older camera, even tough that camera is really a premium one and obviously your lenses are premium ones too.
Thanks Jonas. Yes, the mk1 DXâs are fine for me still. Ok, if I had plenty of money I may be shooting with newer kit but it wouldnât give much better results when shooting in jpg! The 400 was 2nd hand too and does a brilliant on still! Thanks for watching Jonasđđ»
Another great video Mark. You really have got a camera-friendly way of doing this. If you did photography workshops I'd be the first to book - I know there's so much to learn. I'm an experienced photographer, but if I were to attend a seminar/workshop about the techie bits of wiring out etc I'd go to you first. That aside, I bet you're like the rest of us, just dying to get back out there!
Ah thanks, very kind words there! I too am getting lots out of making these vlogs. They create lots off discussion which helps us all improve. Yes, 1 week on from my last trip outside, my hard drives are melting I've plugged them in so many times, looking through old sets! Keeps safe and thanks again for your support.
Good insight to what you carry Mark thanks. I am sure that kit product placement deal is just around the corner đ

Great bit of kit, Mark! Nice presentation! After seeing your video on the Mini Max I ordered one too (an original from Israel not the Chinese knock-off). Super neat and great suggestion! Cheers!
Hi Stephen. Thanks, a pretty straight forward video but hope itâs useful. Brill, they are a great stool, sure youâll get plenty of use out of it. Mines even been used in the dining room before! Stay safe Stephenđđ»
Mark Kerton the dining room?! Fancy! LOL.. did you get the version with a cushion? I did but it doesnât seem to stay our very well. May have to deploy a strip of Velcro.. got a new camera bag.. going to get that sorted today. Stay well!! Cheers!
By far and away the most useful sports photography channel on CZcams. Looking forward to using my stool as soon as the motorsport season starts.
Hi. Thanks for that comment, really appreciate that. Fingers crossed we can get this awful bug under control and get back to normality by June time! The Mini-Max is great, sure you be pleased with it. What motorsport do you cover? I used to shoot a lot of Rallying back in the day. Miss the buzz still!
Mark Kerton Shoot as a hobbiest so far, this year was supposed to be the year I work on getting some paid clients. I shoot mainly BTCC but with DTM, F1, WEC, Iâve not shot rallying yet but itâs definitely on the list.
Nice one. Sounds like youâve got a nice portfolio then. Have you tried approaching any agencies?
Seen a few photographers from Ireland I know have subscribed as I sent your link because I knew they would find it interesting to see.

Great video like you have 2 canon 1dx Hoping to upgrade sometime this year to 1dx Mark 2 when we can get back out stay safe thanks again for a great video
Thanks William. A Mkii is definitely next on my list of kit improvements for sure, once this horrid virus passes! Thanks for your support William and stay safe!
As always, thanks for the insight! As someone very early in their photographic career, I can only hope to afford one 1DX at some point, much less three of them. Right now, Iâm using a 6Dii with a 70-200, and that has served me fairly well so far.
Thanksđđ» I started the same. It takes a few years to build up on kit, with the help of finance too! Keep snapping, building a nice portfolio and the rest will follow Iâm sure. Stay safe and thanks for the supportđđ»
I just got the exact same setup. How does yours perform grain-wise as it gets darker in the evening?

Thanks Mark for the video, it was fun and informative. Nikon shooter and have my eye on a D5, just waiting for everything to return to normality. Keep safe as I hear the Old Dart has been hit quite hard and keep punching out these videos.
Hi Alistair. Thanks for watching. I always think when I make a âkitâ or âsettingsâ vlog that it will only appeal to canon users, so great to hear you had a watch too being a Nikon user. Quality video Mark! Shame about those griff gear shades - been trying to find one for about a year with no such luck haha
Thanks James. I'm pleased I included the shades as it was brought to my attention that there is a new company producing them now. Try WooShades www.wooshades.com.au/
May I suggest putting a chapter list for the long videos like this one? I was really interested in what kind of remote trigger you use but I had to watch through the whole video. Not that it wasn't interesting but I was really interested in that one thing at the moment. Thanks.

Hi (is it Nik?) Yes, if the game is live on talkSPORT I usually pop the ear phones in, just to keep up with play. Sometimes I miss whoâs received a card or whatever and I can listen in. Also have bbc sport news page open to keep up with play. Stay safeđđ»
Hi Mark, Yes it nikcan and keep safe but we donât know if the lockdown will extend beyond Easter Sunday here in Ireland.
Interesting to see what evolves over the next days and weeks. Football for men is due to restart on June the 19th and womenâs football on 28th June in Ireland to tie in European football qualifiers but I honestly donât see how any sports will take place in 2020. You might get good deals at Christmas time for new camera and lenses for the camera manufacturers wish to increase their financial performance results.
Thatâs right Nikcan, itâs going to be so tricky to have ANY sort of gathering way after this has passed! Theyâre now saying some Chinese folk are re-catching it!!! One MASSIVE stamp on history this is!! Keep safeđđ»
Mark Kerton Thanks Mark but maybe if you wanted to do a different sport could be Gaelic Football and Hurling plus the girls version of Hurling called Camogie.
Womenâs game is 11 a side whereas the menâs game is 15 a side.

lots of clubs in London and Birmingham area plus other UK locations. Worth getting different sports and probably less crowded if the sports are given the go ahead but if you fancied traveling to Ireland there you could contact GAA HQ at Croke Park or the various county teams.

Mark Kerton going to see unrest as in Italy people are breaking the curfew
I have followed your channel and found everything so informative with both sports and landscape photography. and especially what you have in your bag. I have purchased a 28-300 Canon L Lens even though some people said go for the 100-400 I am pleased with the results so far and until I progress further I think this lens is a good "all-rounder" The quality of the photos has definitely improved shooting with a 50D, next step to upgrade the camera!! Many, many thanks for your input it has been a great help!
Thatâs great to hear that the video has helped in some way, brilliant and thank you for watching too. The 28-300 will certainly get you by for sure. The 100-400 is a fantastic lens but worth waiting until you get a bit busier perhaps. Regarding your camera upgrade, have you looked at the 90 D or the 70 mark two? Both good cameras for sport. Thanks again for watchingđđ»
@@MarkKerton Thanks Mark for taking the time to replay I appreciated your comments and professional approach, your videos are open, honest and thoroughly enjoyable. Regarding my camera I was looking to purchase 5D Mk3 or push the boat out with DX Mk2 similar to yourself and get a "full frame" camera. Thanks again for the advice. All the best, Nigel

Great videos Mark ! If you could buy just one teleconverter, which one would you buy 1.4 or x2. Im shooting football, rugby and hopefully a little bit of cricket. Keep you and your's safe.
Ooh real tough Q that is Craig. I think Iâd just edge to the x2, specially for cricket at the big grounds. I always use the x2 for dugout shots of managers too. Hope that helpsđđ»

Your welcome! Thanks for your support.
Hello Mark great video. The 400mm lens you use that the one that came out in the 2000âs.
Hi. Thanks for Watching. Yes, my 400 has seen some action now, the old crock! Still does me proud thoughđđ»
Hello Mark Thanks for the reply. I originally wanted to purchase the same lens youâve got but due to budgeting I settled for a 300mm f2.8 IS Lens back in 2005. Iâve found that this is a great lens. A little awakened as I have a love/ hate with the focal length but Iâve used it with a 1.4 converter. A pro advised me in 2003 that a converter can slow the auto focus a bit, but I never found that to be true. I havenât shot any sport since 2007 so Iâm now a beginner & the videos you do are great help more than anything. I am taking the path as you did by shooting as many sports as possible & building a portfolio. Iâm thinking of the Canon 200-400 f4 IS with a built in converter.
That 200-400 is ment to be VERY good. Read a lot of good things about itđđ»
My advice, buy pelicase 1510. safe & hard.
I do not use mini-max i love more walkstool, yes it's not to handy like mini max but it's more comfortable.
A second advice would be to buy a pedal for wireless transmitter behind the goal.
And do not risk with HDD buy some dissent SSD for example Samsung T3, and then transfer all the pic. at home on some RAID NAS!
Good luck.
Thanks Mirko, advice taken on board. I will check out the Samsung T3 drives
Mark, the Pocket Wizard remotes, which model do you suggest for doing the behind goal setup? Im planning on introducing the third camera to my kit, its an old 70D which i would link to my primary body being a 1DX3 while i have a 5D with shorter lens for closeups. Swapping it at half time to always be behind our opponents goal and to avoid damage from the kids that invade to pitch at half time for a kick.
Hi Andrew. Mine were PW3âsđđ»
Can please you do a review on the Canon 400mm 2.8 lens? There are very few of them online. Especially of the Mark I version.
Iâll look into it Jesseđđ»
Hi Mark, just found your channel recently and am already a big fan. Your vids are super informative, your work is really appreciated! Random question related to shooting football, if you for some reason wanted to use flash photography during a game, would that be allowed??
Hi Dan, thanks for getting in touch and watching the videos. It is much appreciated. The only time I would put the flash on would be before or after the game if you needed a bit of extra light. Players arriving or capturing the manager in the dugout. And again, capturing the players getting back on the coach or leaving the football ground. It would be very frowned upon to use the flash during the game. Thatâs when F 2 .8 is a big bonus. Hope that helps Danđđ»

Hello. I have just found your page. Iâve just bought a 1DX and looking to find out as much as I can. Your videos are fantastic. So informative and helpful. I wanted to know what lense to buy for zooming in. What would you recommend? I had a ÂŁ90 lumix bridge and maxed it out with everything you can do on it. Went straight in the deep end and bought a 1DX and thought I will just learn from the top. Never owned a cannon before. So learning from the beginning. But Iâm excited to start with an amazing camera. I need a macro lens and zoom lens. Thank you x
Hi Harlequin, thanks for watching and getting in touch. Great news on the 1Dx purchase. Are you going to use it for sport or general photography? I love my 70-200 so would highly recommend that lens. Also, the 100-400 Mkii is a great lens too, one which I am looking to purchase soon. Macro wise, my 100 f2.8 is great for product photography, so Iâd recommend that too. Let me know how you get onđđ»

Another great video Mark.... Iâm still in shock over the FA decision that season 2019-20 will end with immediate effect and all results expunged. The team I photograph in the Northern League Division 2 Redcar Athletic are sitting second, three points off the top. this decision is cruel and unfair on all those clubs involved... I bet the FA wonât expunge the top flight results and render their leagues null and void. Some people would say football doesnât matter in the current climate we are experiencing but for some itâs a way of life and these people put everything into their football clubs and stand to lose out big style. Whatâs your thoughts on this.... Postpone football yes, focus on saving lives until it is safe to return to our normal way of life. Record books will say a season was void. Why shouldnât we delay next season as it hasnât started yet? Finish this one! Fair on all. Stay safe and take care.
Hi Trevor. Thanks for the support. Yes, I was really shocked that ALL Non League had been made void! Surely it has to be consistent across all levels of the game! I can still see The FA pulling the rest! Canât see many teams agreeing to BCD games! Time will tell I guess!
I photograph team in Isthmian Premier league... second ... unbeaten in 2020 and top of form table... forward is top of the goals table... all equals nothing! frustrating for all involved. But lives matter before football. Agree they need to do one rule for whole pyramid from prem league to bottom
Tommy something will happen fairly soon Iâm sure! Theyâll be a lot of pressure in the FA now after this decision!
I was also shocked but not unexpected! I photograph for Atherton Collieries in the Northern Premier League. I suppose I should be relieved as we were sitting 2nd from bottom but had a few games in hand and had been picking up vital points before the lockdown.
Hi David. Iâd expect theyâll be a decision coming soon on the rest of the football season. Surely it canât be one rule for non-league and another for the rest! After all, it all starts in non-league surely! It will be interesting to see the outcome! Keep safe Davidđđ»
Just watching again and I then wondering would the SSD portable drives be better suited. Just in case you get a stray ball hitting one of the portable drives and it falls to the ground and you canât remove its contents?
You mean the card readers NikCan?
Mark Kerton I was talking about the external hard drives not the card reader. Better going with ssd aka solid state hard drives as they have no moving parts and if they fall to the ground or hit by an object like a ball they will cause no damage as there are no moving parts. The ssd drives are similar to the SSD drives in your laptop while the older or basic laptops have the cheaper moving drives Information in the normal external hard drives the heads are a spinning disc and then won't be able to get the information off the disks.
Got ya NIkCan. They all stay at home as a rule but your right, I ought to grab some SSDâsđđ»
Mark Kerton ssd drives a bit more expensive but the security of knowing your contents are more robust is pricelss. You could Buy an internal ssd nvme m.2 drive of the largest size you require and an external waterproof nvme m.2 case with type C/ usb 3 connections sometimes is a lot cheaper than the shop ready models.
Hi Mark , When you purchase your 1DX's do you buy new or do you buy second hand and what do you look for in terms of the frame count . Also when you had a new case put on the water damaged 1DX , can I ask the cost .
Hi. I buy new bodies as a rule. My bodies are 3 years old now and have approx 250,000 actuations. I'd say a 2nd hand body with 50-100,000 actuations would be fine if it looks in good condition still. The new rubber covers all together were around ÂŁ200. Hope that helps.
