I fully grasp Fleming´s ideas and think she has a wonderful approach. Serious but at the same time easing the tension. Excellent
I LOVE Renee's no-nonsense approach. Fantastic teacher.
No, Callas, Melocchi, Pertile, Hislop, the Del Monacos and LoMonaco were great teachers
Wow, you worked with all of them or how can you tell? ;)
@Papa Geno Because they taught their students great technique.
As far as I know, Callas taught mainly interpretation. Someone could get the impression you just want to drop some names to attack the obviously good teaching of Fleming without naming any real arguments or facts. Reminds me of a certain president...
@@Bumblebeebeebee Really? Listen to Callas' Juilliard masterclasses. In them she does teach some interpretation, but most of all technique. Fleming's teaching is not good. She makes her students more masky and nasal.
great singer this last girl!stunning performance! Bravo!
I like the way Fleming kindly implied that the 2nd soprano was coming off as
a nut-case and her high notes were strident and off-tune.
Bravísimas todas!
That last singer blows me away. Those runs are excellent and she only got better with the notes she received.
Honestly the best stage performance of "Glitter And Be Gay" I've ever seen after Natalie Dessay.
Fantastic teacher, great singer!
I like that Renée lets each singer sing their aria straight through before charging in to comment, criticise, suggest.
Why? That's just a waste of time.
@@celibidache1000 Not at all. You think like a bank. Ask any singer what is preferable. The reasons are obvious.
@@mckavitt13 I am a singer. I don't need to sing the whole song, I want to get input on my singing. I also teach singing, and I don't need to hear many bars to know what issues to adress.
Why is it important to you to sing the whole song through?
@@mckavitt13 And what does "you think like a bank" mean? And how can you know how I think. Do you always judge people that quickly. Also, what is the point of even addressing how I think in this context?
@@mckavitt13 And the "everybody else does it" argument is one of the weakest arguments there are, since it says nothing about reality, only your perception of reality. Pointless.
I wonder what would Mrs. Fleeming, Monse Marti, Elina Garanca, Anna Netrebko, Aprile Milo be in concert all together...
Where's at her. I want to lessen vocal coach
Good 👍♥
Seremos breves.
sonic arms race extraordinary
1:15 enjoying evaluation so much, praise of English.
At 75 minutes, that is.
The girl who sang Pamina was very lost because of the language barriers. Such a pity. Spanish are notorious for their nationalism but not learning English is inadmissible, it is a universal language that can open doors to students internationally. It should be a must in a serious institution.

That third girl doesn't get it. Act, Honey! Act!
Fleming doesn't get it!
@@xxsaruman82xx87 exactly!
@Xx
Agreed! Fleming is no one.
That singer is awesome, no need to act like pantomime. Makes it look nothing but stupid!

The too high air pressure comes from the native language Spanish ...
I also have to tell some commentators on this post that while it is true that in Spain the level of languages is terrible, I also have to tell them that the majority of operas are in Italian, a language more similar to Spanish. It can be seen that you have not heard Joan Sutherland, among other English speakers, sing the stupendous song that his diction in Italian, French, German or Spanish was fatal.
Carlos María Juliani Even in English! Incomprehensible. :-)
the first girl destroyed that beautiful aria with the awful wobbling vibrato, too much breath pressure
Needs relaaaaaaax ♨️🌌
Schitterend.
I'm watching this awesome master class and so far what i feel is that those singers need to improve their English. If they want to make a carrier they will need to be able to speak and understand English well.
Paulo Carv Why not Renée Fleming improving her Spanish?
They're all so nasal!
Angel sel hernandez They all sound American, in any case. Great. Ugh.
Why does all the participants sing nasal and why are all notes above the middle so incredibly shrill and pushed. And why do they have super-wide slow vibratos at the top? You can barely understand what note they mean to sing?
Who are the vocal teachers who allow their students to sound like this. And no, it's not about their voices having to mature. Their technique is just off. Nothing can mature from these sounds!
And, of course, Fleming, being nasal herself, can do nothing about it. I don't even think she hears it.
Look, the super voice teachers and highly appreciated CZcams experts are again on their crusade against any singer who is not shouting for his life... funny!
@@Bumblebeebeebee Thank you for time, and time again, proving that I'm correct.
To be totally fair to Fleming, there’s only so much you can do in a masterclass.
@@rhanemcquain3853 These comments are not about fairness or objectivity. Some envious amateurs just try pathetically to pamper their ego.
How to sing nasal, woofy, constricted and throaty! Basically how NOT to sing.
I am sure you can sing and teach much better!
@@Bumblebeebeebee can you?
Fleming who?
She worsens every single one of them.
