These wide recievers cant catch and their runningback cant run, so Howell has to do it all, throw, run, and catch it. Clearly the best player on the field

I agree that Howell is trying to do more with less. You see it to a degree with every NFL caliber prospect, but it really seems like they need more out of Howell to be successful. I've watched a lot of video since the draft, and I think that both Howell and Corral have the ability to prove a lot of people wrong, as long as they work hard and use that doubt as fuel. I'm a Steelers fan, and I sure hope that Pittsburgh picked right, but they could have had Corral, Howell, or Willis in the 3rd (I'm not as sold on Ridder after watching him a bit, and he wasn't available anyway), and it's far from a sure thing that any of them will have worse careers that Pickett in the NFL (I think all of them will get an opportunity to start sooner, rather than later).

Unimpressed with Howell and I already knew Jermaine Johnson wasn’t that good

First off he looks like Baker Mayfield out there. I’ll give him a slight pass on some throws bc he lost Newsome and Brown who are NFL players now and these receivers that he’s working with now suck and can’t make a play for him. Low key a good runner though I don’t think NFL teams would want him to do that. Overall I can’t see him going in the first round unless a team really likes him. Def a second round pick though.

@@antjack6192 so i watched the "all throws and runs vs UT Martin" video of that guy.
      1. It's very hard to really evaluate *any* QB in college. They all run the same offensive system which has a lot of 1 read quick passes they you cant even evaluate. If I were to throw all those plays out and just look at the stuff that separates a QB from bad to good at the NFL level, there's barely any plays to look at.
      2. I admit, I only looked at 5 mins of this guy so this is unfair to him.
      3. Obviously, small school programs (I never even had heard of UT Martin)
      4. Most of the throws I saw of him in the first half of that game were garden variety "easy pitch 'n catch" plays - 1 read where the guy is wide open.
      5. He seemed to have a good arm at least operating against the speed of the game at that div 2? level.
      6. undersized.
      7. I put him in the same class with all the other guys - nothing stood out to me, 1 throw was really nice around the 1:35 mark left in the 2nd quarter everything else was not BAD - but it wasnt indicative of anything that I would commit to being successful at the NFL either.
      8. Bottom line - ehh, I dont know. And coming from his school, chances are slim that he'd be a GREAT NFL Qb. but we'll see

A lot of his drops are because of poor ball placement coupled with high velocity. He's throwing a little behind everyone all of the time. I don't think he's great at anticipating routes and throwing the ball to where it needs to be, and that's why he misses deep several times here. NFL starter level arm, stronger than Pickett. He takes off and runs when he doesn't need too, which again I think is because he isn't seeing the field like an elite pocket passer, not just because he was coached to play that way in 2021. 63.8 college completion percentage, not bad but not good.
bottom line is I feel like I'm watchign a guy with a B+ arm that is so mid everywhere else and that's why his stats are so mid

@james dowd not gonna lie. I haven’t seen much film on him. The film I did see he was doing too much running for me and it was because his line was trash, but they also did a lot of design runs. So your point is probably valid. I still rather have another d-lineman or linebacker
