- Hello and welcome to my channel! In this video, I go over how the Yankees could make a very SMART Decision, or very DUMB decision. Cody Bellinger would either be a blessing, or a curse.

Title: The Yankees Could Do The DUMBEST Or SMARTEST Thing
By: Purely Baseball - Sport
Yea there is no way they sign Belli at this point, that rumor was clearly spread by Bellinger's team to push the Cubs to make a deal. It would make no sense.
Why it hasn’t happened yet?
@@Cwe-35 Belli's agent is Boras, he always drags these things out
@@Cornwall1298 Bellinger don’t wanna go back to cubs
@@Cwe-35He would for the right price , which is absurdly way above his market value at the moment.
Correct it’s pushed by boras. Scott uses the yanks to make other teams get nervous into upping their bids because supposedly New York is involved .
He’s using the Yankees to leverage other teams’ investment in Cody bellinger ….. smh
those bellingers rumors are only to raise his price or make other teams hurry. clasic scott boras move
I agree
The only way this could be true is if Bellinger really wanted to be a Yankee all along and is now willing to take a team friendly deal to do it. Think somewhere in the neighborhood of 7 years $140 million. His Dad was a Yankee during their glory years (during Cody's formative years), so it's not an altogether far-fetched notion that Cody could have grown up a Yankees fan. If this is indeed true, the Yankees would need to shed salary to even consider it. This would involve moving both Trent Grisham and Alex Verdugo for prospects. Doing so would save the Yankees $14m that they could earmark for Bellinger, and it would make them a markedly better team. Judge could resume playing RF (where he belongs), Soto in LF, Bellinger in CF. Having Bellinger under contract would also cover the Yankees in the event that Soto eventually leaves or Rizzo can't rebound. It's definitely an idea worth exploring.
All that said, it's more likely that this is a story planted by Boras to drive up Bellinger's market.
Yankees always sign players out of desperation, not need. That's why they haven't dont anything in 14 years
Let’s go tiger. Colt Keith signed long term under a team friendly deal. I have to say I love the move.
He sucks and so does the tigers
The Yanks have a budget, they cannot afford Bellinger. This isn't George's team, they've already overspent too much under the league of Steinbrenner sons .
George never had thresholds. And I can't believe I have to keep saying this. There are penalties beyond the financial ones for exceeding it.
Also, fans have completely forgotten how bad George was for years. How much he set the team back with dumb move after dumb move. How the only reason we had a dynasty in the 90s at all was that George was suspended and couldn't trade Bernie Williams like he wanted to.
George was great in his way, because he wore his heart on his sleeve. But when your payroll is the highest in franchise history, I would argue that's showing how much Hal wants to win.
Belli is the move, stacking up with hitters allows leeway in the pitching. Play him at first. Rizzo/Stanton don’t perform well enough to be guaranteed abs anymore. And ain’t no way on this Earth would a Belli contract affect the Soto pursuit. It’s the Yankees man. Ain’t no pop and shop.
I got a feeling that the Soto trade is not gonna work out. If he hits less than 25 homers then I’m guessing he gonna leave for another team
Giants???? Prob not 😂
He’s gonna absolutely rake in Yankees stadium
Soto in a contract year is like Judge in a contract year. And all we know whats happened that year 😁
The Yankees wouldnt have traded for Soto unless they were confident that they will resign
I mean if he only hits 25 bombs in yankee stadium then his offense will only diminish further in the most pitcher friendly park in the league so yeah, I’m gonna guess no.
If they are looking at bellinger... I wonder if Rizzo ain't right???
It's Ben 15 years now since he Yankees have seen the fall classic when will people except that they're time has long passed
I would concentrate more on the pitching
I would as well. I like the Stroman edition, and a Rodon bounce back is definitely possible.. but one more arm would be ideal for the rotation, and then one for the bullpen
Trade Dominguez for a top line starter and then you have your All-Star outfield
While that could work, they made it clear in the Soto trade negotiations that Dominguez is a core part of the team.
Dominguez, Soto and Judge will be awesome! I cannot wait.
They gotta resign Soto and verdugo
They'll pad opponents pitchers K's that's for sure! Hit an occasional dinger. I guess if that's the goal...
Nothing will happen. Yankees won’t get anyone else
Agree 100%. Yanks need arms more than bats at this point, Snell or Monty should be in our rotation before spring training
They’ve made nice moves but unless Rodon and Nestor rebound to ‘22 levels, they’re a 4th place team.
And Stanton and Rizzo. And it might be nice for one of the 'top prospects' to hit better.
I will get TREVOR BAUER for a 2 year contract and save money to offer SOTO a great contract
Signing a big position player and ignoring pitching needs? They might as well be called the New York Yankees of Anaheim.
The New York Yankees of Fuhgetaboutit!
Extend a scott Boras client? Okay….
You make a good point lol
No shot that Bellinger plays for the Yankees. They will either pay Snell or just keep their current roster.
Strangely enough his first full season was 2017. What is strange, that was exactly his last full season played!
Broken evrey year since at one point or another. Durability: 5/99
They need MORE low avg and high strike out guys! sub .220 avg >150k's
Schwarber
Gallo
Alonso
Muncy
WE NEED PITCHING DAMMIT
Wouldn’t call Thorpe a top pitching prospect. King is 29 going on 30 & hasn’t pitched a full season yet. The Yanks had to make that deal.
We need to trade Stanton, not sign Belli.
As much as I agree with trading Stanton, i’m not sure if theres a team out there who wants him with that type of $. Thorpe won Prospect of the year in 2023. It was a good deal for both sides, and made sense for both honestly
@@PurelyBaseballYT I will admit, I did not know Thorpe won prospect of year & I can see why you said what you said.
I feel the same way about Stanton too. I read a few articles about a potential trade for Rendon. I honestly wouldn’t mind that
Stanton has a total non trade clause. The trade Stanton idea is a non starter. Will not happen in this life.
I’d put Stanton at first base personally. That or dh
Back when he was with the Dodgers 😭😭
Soto ain’t extending, but he might re sign with yankees during the off season
If they sign Bellinger you’d think they’d be packaging up some other players for a trade right?
Yeah I would imagine
Aaaaaaand... where would Spencer Jones play when he comes up? 🤔
Good point!
I believe Yankees will be sign up Snell, Chapman, Beilinger
Not much movement in the Free Agent market on any of them. They definitely have an opportunity to add talent!
Damn I wish that happened but this ain’t George this is Hal he idiot
Add another 150m to that 13/377
If the yanks are going to drop cash? Ots going to ne on snell not belli. For me the lineup they have already can do damage.
They need pitching help not hitting at this point.
So bellinger is a super star with only one good year after two really bad seasons?!!! I mean, no!!!
it would only make sense if they trade rizzo and have bellinger be their everyday 1b
100% not worth it give Ben Rice a shot after Rizzo is done
I feel if they get belly and Soto gets an extension there will be a trade sending away verdugo and Stanton
I definitely agree that it should happen! The only problem, is who would actually take on Stanton? Gonna be interesting to see what happens
NYY can’t go wrong with either snell or bellinger
How is Bellinger in the "can't go wrong" category with his injury history and completely inconsistent play?
And Snell would upgrade the rotation, but he's a 5 inning mid rotation quality starter for most of his career with a couple sensational years thrown in.
Both of those deals could go incredibly wrong in a very easily predicted way.
Bro the yankees have Cortez and Schmidt. Every youtuber wants to poke holes on he rotation and ALWAYS leave Cortez out the talk as if he doesn't exist and as if on his last start, against Houston at that, he pitched the four innings he was allowed to pitch and struck out 8
Cortez sucks. It’s a one hit wonder two seasons ago and is hurt all the time. He has no power pitch only relies on his funky wind ups.
Dort!!
Definitely would be on board for Montgomery
Yes Monty would be great for the right price. But he probably will get a very nice contract elsewhere.
Honestly, his market is surprisingly limited to the Rangers, and Boston. Bostons playing the “hOw CaN i SaVe EvErY pEnNy” game. Yankees could easily swoop in and give him a deal he wants
At least they did stuff this off season. Jays haven't done anything of importance. Just sit around looking for scraps
You know nothing we got IKF!!😅
@@Reek151 lol right. IKF makes the team worse. He's a worse version of Merrifield and Chapman. Hasn't hit even league average in 6 seasons
@@leam89 how many infielders are there already? Waste of money. I kinda would Chapman back. I think they will have better luck.
fun video but no point in making it because THERE IS ABSOLUTELY ZERO chance the Yankees get Belli
Let’s go Yankees
Nahh! Go Red Sox
You said belli would be an upgrade at 1B over rizzo? So you must mean offensively because defensive is not in the slightest bit true. Belli is OF and rizzo is amazing at 1B so you lost me there
Rizzo is so trash
Hey look, I found a moron!!!
They probably want Cody to play 1B
Possibly. It has the potential to really workout
