Showing the United Cutlery Combat Commander Thai Gladius killing water jugs. This item is a short spear with a 20 inch double edged machete as the spearhead. The shaft gives it a lot of thrusting and chopping power and good reach. The steel is 1065 mid carbon. Price is $56, I have included a link to this and many related items (swords, machetes, hawks) in the text description box. Enjoy! :]
This is a great review. I use mine every day. Some guy at work could not open his briefcase, so i did a double handed straight cut down. Chopping it, and part of his chair clean in half. He should have mentioned that his imac was in the briefcase.
Excellent video. Really well done review of this big lethal cutting tool. You really do have the moves when handling the Gladius Machete. Most accurate strikes I have seen anyone do.
You are very skillful with a blade..I've watched that now for a couple of years now.. you are very good .my knife for that is the Atlanta cutlery Kinjal. Be cause I live kind of close to them..I carried it into the North Georgia mountains for a 6 months bug out an it stayed on my side the whole time because there's Bears up there . Thank you for showing me another good defense blade ..
ABSOLUTELY enjoy seeing you work bro! They way you handle weapons is the "real deal"! You make it look easy... The last i.e I saw you handle the Combat Commander Gladius, it cost me TWO of them. One for me and my nephew! Which btw, was also pretty impressed by your video! Although we can't wield those weapons like you, we are more than HAPPY, to watch you do it! Of course you know what I have to do now bro... This time my nephew, can get his own!
Pardon my language but Putang Ina galing mo talaga sa cutting. I've watched you since 2012 and I've always wished I had the same skill as you. And I'm really glad to see you in good shape compared to the early years. Mabuhay ka Ng matatag Israel
OK, so I bought one of these because it gives you a decent Idea of the size of the Spit and possible handling characteristics. I intend fully to order the Spit. The Spit is intended to be a home defense weapon for me. The Thai Gladius will do for now. My Gladius did come sharp, not as sharp as I would like but still sharp. The blade however is warped. I overlook this because, well hell, I only paid something like $56.00 on Amazon and it gives me a decent home defense weapon along with giving me something to practice with while waiting on the Spit. Value for the money I believe to be good.
some of the expressions on your face when cutting were cracking me up, and there was one right after the thrust that was funny, haha Good video, short and sweet. Thanks
The Zulus used a short spear that's very comparable to this called the Iklwa. "Ee-Klwa" like a Click sound right before the W. It's basically a modern take on the concept, so there is precedent for it.
I bought the Combat Commander and after a couple of months of used to handle splits off of it the only thing that holds a handle together is that little brass ring if you're going to hang it on the wall it's fine if you're going to use it to work with it's a piece of junk
I do love "this is with the factory edge" because I know the the unspoken part is "because if I gave this to Nutjob he'd make it too sharp and cut his hand again." 😉
That thing is unbelievable! Imagine people chopping each other up in ancient battles? You had to be special to be a soldier in ancient times. I guess if the snakes can kill you, and the spiders can kill you, and the crocodiles can kill you, you're already at the ends of the earth!
Thanks! It will hold up as well as any machete, they are not hardened as much as a knife, but they flex which prevents them snapping even if you smash it on a tree or cutting stand :]
NIce to see a weapon like this demonstrated by someone with actual technique and not just an out of shape fantasy cosplayer swinging like a baseball bat while screaming "DIE."
Any suggestions for a brush machete? The recurve of a kukri or bill hook looks potentially helpful, but those tend to be heavier for chopping. So would a longer and lighter machete be best (like the Ontario 22”)?
For thick brush, a lot of people like the classic Woodsmans Pal machete. Ontario 22 is very good, it is thicker than most Latin machetes, so it is a good in-between light and medium. Imacasa also has some machetes that might be good, look for Imacasa Bolo, Tapanga, or Cuma style machetes.
I try to watch reviews so I know I'll like the item, but if it's a lemon I just use it for spare parts, maybe regrind it or turn it into a throwing knife.
Would this be reliable in a home invasion defense situation? Pros and cons? I have a sold steel buckler, can i use this effectively? Btw guns are very uncommon where i come from, usually home invaders are armed with machetes.
It is extremely deadly, good for thrusting in narrow areas, it will prevent attackers from passing through a window, doorway, stairs, or other narrow spaces.
@@WeAllJuggleKnives thank you for the reply. I currently made a makeshift spear using a cold steel bushman, but am eyeing the thai gladius as the oversized double edged 'spear head' is riskier to grab and redirect compared to the bushman spear. Is the TG full tang btw? Also thank you for making great content on your channel. Been enjoying it a lot. Your cutting skills are top notch. On a side note, my strategy for a home invasion is to lock my self and wife in the room, pour cooking oil in front of the door, and if an entry is made, hopefully they lose balance or slip and i can use a spear from a safe distance. Scary thought but im newly married and live far away from people, so security matters gets me a little paranoid especially at night.
Try to study HEMA or some other art so you look better when doing the cutting. Look into weight training, running, and intermittent fasting, try to be as in shape as you can.

Awesome comment!
LOL
His fault.
Those bottle cutting skills never disappoint. Great one, man.
Thanks, my friend!
I had to have mine sharpened when it arrived, but it is now one of my favorite toys. Great for home defense. And at $50 it's a steal.
I'm buying one now 😂 you sold me
Very nice! These will be highly sought after when the Druids invade!
For sure, good vs. zombie, orc, leprechaun too :]

Nice factory edge there, smooth like butter. You did some great slashes with that, well done.
I'm def gonna have to get me one
Excellent, glad I found something for you!
I love the United Combat Commander and M48 lines. They make some cool products!
Me too, I have a lot of them, biggest competitor to Cold Steel's weapon-inspired machetes.

Thanks, bro, you will definitely like this blade, it fits your CS collection in spirit.
You sure know how to get the right swings in with that spear. Awesome review!
Thanks, bro!
I have this, as well as the Combat Commander Gladiator Sword.
Now, what I really need is some training.
Damn that’s pretty wicked looking. Definitely going to buy one from your link!
Thanks, it definitely helps!
This is almost like some sort of Sword staff / Sword spear, I love it would prefer a version with twice as long handle at least but its still great

Thanks for the demo brother!
Welcome, my friend!
that's great I love seeing Thai design swords being developed and improved.👍
Would be interesting to see you get your hands on a Zombie Tools "The Spit" and compare it to this.
Yeah that looks pretty awesome, deluxe version of this :]

Ahhhh... Nothin like a short little bottle-slashing video to get rid of off some of that pre-holiday stress. 👍😉
For sure, I figure many people are off from work this week and need some holiday cheer :]

Really cool....super high up on the "gotta gitme one " scale.
Excellent, you will enjoy it :]
Zombies, Hostile Extraterrestrials......BRING IT! ..I'm getting one of These!🤗
Excellent, use in good health :D
Man that looked fun. Thanks for sharing
Just part of my holiday festivities :D
That was fun. The stuff you find…😂
You have superb skills that make the cutting look so easy
Thanks, my friend!
Keeping Blades and Knives alive good cutting pal. Your skill ain't gone no where it's still there⚔️ 💰😃💰⚔️

That is a cool blade. Wicked cutting buddy. Keep the great content coming! Merry Christmas.
Thanks, bro! Yeah this is one of their best models, robust and efficient pole machete.
They're making some pretty good weapons for a little money and why not buy them, they are cool and they are fun!
that thing is sharp,great cuts
Handle gives great leverage for generating force :D
Very very nice.
Dude you lost a lot of weight since the last time I saw your videos.
Congratulations man !
Thanks, my friend, yeah this is my old shirt, 2 sizes too big for me now ;]
Hell yeah I need that lol.👊💀
Very cool.
Wow very impressive!
Thanks, bro!
A short Speer is known in HEMA to be one of the best melee weapons
Yeah, it is a lot easier to aim the thrusts compared to a sword.
Nice cutting
Thanks, bro!
I do love "this is with the factory edge" because I know the the unspoken part is "because if I gave this to Nutjob he'd make it too sharp and cut his hand again." 😉
Be careful :] Doug Mercaida cut his hand the other day, you're in good company.
Looks razor sharp. Im gonna get one now lol
Excellent, I have all three of this series and they are pretty nice for the prices!
United cutlery rules!
I like that they are not afraid to make weapon designs, even if I mainly use them for fun :]
Sweet Blade
Glad you dig it :]
Back yard Zulu action if full force effect

Great! Love these videos
My pleasure, to slay these jugs for the roar of the crowd :]
That is one heck of a name for this thing lmao 😂
I know :] I have many Thai machetes, none look anything like this LOL
OOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!😻😻😻😻😻😻
That is one long handle
For sure, let's you get in quite a swing for those zombies
Reminds me of a Zulu war spear.
Iklwa, commonly called an assegai.
Yeah this definitely is an Iklwa
How well will this thing take a beating? Merry Christmas!

Thanks, man! Borrowed the techniques from Jo Staff work.
I have the Naganata version, but that's the one that i really want.
I hope Santa brings you one :]

I have the gladius version of this with the regular size handle.
Ah yes, Combat Commander Gladiator Sword, it's a good competitor to Cold Steel's,
I think I need this
It is definitely on par with some of Cold Steel's zombie killers, a worthy addition.
@@WeAllJuggleKnives Got it yesterday. I have no practical use for this, but man it's cool to have lol.
I'm curious: What do you do with the stuff you don´t like: resell it or keep it?
I try to watch reviews so I know I'll like the item, but if it's a lemon I just use it for spare parts, maybe regrind it or turn it into a throwing knife.
U doing it for fun, I’m looking for combat. In this sword good for real combat or not
Yes it is, it has good reach and it is fast, benefits of a machete and spear.
what ever happened to that Tactical Katana you had by Hanwei, you still have it?
I think they stopped making those, but I do have one from way back.
I see a little knob on one side of the handle towards the hilt, looks like it was meant to be held in that way, is that the case?
Sure, but it depends which edge is sharper at the time, you would reverse it if the one edge gets dull.
Are you saying you wouldn't use it in self defense 🤔 or a apocalypse? Or zombie attacks? Not strong enough ?
I think it would be pretty good for self defense, lots of reach!

What you doing ThunderFoot??
But will it “keel”?
Yes, it wants to, have to hold it back :]
@@WeAllJuggleKnives I'm not sure if you got the reference to Doug Marcaida 😂
Thai gladius? Nah.
Thai Xiphos. ☝️😐
Thaiphos! 🤓
Indeed, a lot less angular than most gladius I've seen
Reddit users: how do I edc this
LOL
Worst shealth ever.
It's hard not to look like an incel when cutting shit in your backyard. Any tips?
