      @car enthusiast I don't know? My grandpa was a Chevy guy and his best friend who owned the farm next to my grandpas was a Ford guy. They got along great. One time his buddys Ford layed down on him with a stock trailer full of cows and we went up there and pulled the trailer and the ford all the way home. I told grandpa that he could really raz him over this one but, my grandpa said nah, it can happen to any truck no matter what brand it is. They are all designed, engineered and built by humans so, none of them are perfect. I guess thats why I am a gm guy but, I don't put down other makes.

      Safety regulations, to be frank. Some super economy cars in the 90s were hitting up to 40s and 50s, but they were deemed not safe enough by the government and lobbyists and so on. They make them safer, but more expensive and heavier, and it kills fuel economy unless you buy a hybrid or something else mega complicated

  • @honeybadger0559
    @honeybadger0559 Před 3 lety +9

    I love how in the 70's and 80's Chevy constantly had to split hairs when comparing their vehicles to Fords, they literally tell you something the Ford does better than them (i.e. the optional transmission on the Bronco) just to say stuff like: "but Ford recommends you to not tow stuff with it!". There's one of these training videos here on CZcams where Chevy compares a Bronco II with their S10 Blazer and they point out that the Bronco II has drip rails that aren't designed into the body (yes they're that desperate!), what's ironic about that is that their fullsize C/K trucks had the same old style of drip rail as the Bronco II, funny how they didn't mention that. And then they try to tell you that the K5 Blazer is more aerodynamic than the 3rd Gen Bronco... i'm just gonna call bullshit on that.

  • @rtwice93555
    @rtwice93555 Před 3 lety +5

    So, I spent 23 years working as a mechanic at a Ford dealer, some of that when the Bronco was still being sold. The 5.0 (302) was not a good engine for off roading. The big bore and short stroke made the 5.0 better suited for street cars such as the Mustang where high revving horsepower works best. The 4.9L six cylinder was a much better engine for the Bronco because of its wide torque band.
    The Blazer was a fair contender, but I dont know enough about its reliability. Most Chevy drivers are loyal to the "bowtie" and seemed perfectly happy with the SUV.

I’m pretty sure the boys at Chevy just threw some low tread dual purpose radials on the Bronco and put some nice all terrain rubber on that K5. Both are pretty good trucks though, if I was the dude in the video, I would’ve tried harder to sell people on the solid front axle over Ford’s twin-I-beam. I own a Ford with twin-I-bean and there’s only so much I can flex the truck before the tire gets real cozy up against the fender. Rides nice on the road though.

    The Chevy 6 is a turd and the ESC was so full of glitches that it would never get out of its own way and the transmission was garbage. The 300 six in the Ford was the best engine built and has enough torque to pull a huge trailer anywhere

    Broncos were better plain and simple k10' chevys crack frames I know I owned a k10 the push and pull gear box system GM used was junk caused cracking stacey David did a video called "stunt double" showing literally 12 different areas prone to cracking

    64 to 66....Ford. 67 to 72...ford tougher Chevy better looking. 73 to 87...about equal. 88 to 2010...chevy all the way. 2011 to now....Ford
    As you can see I love both. Certain years some are better and some worse. But it always seemed to me in the old days that Ford's were built heavier. Especially 67 to 73. They were a lot heavier built than the 67 to 72 Chevy but the Chevy were better looking. Ford just always seemed to have heavier metal bodies on them.

      I disagree with the 73-79. I owned 2 Fords '74 F-250 with 390 and '76 F-250 with 460. Both great trucks.

    Both plus the ramcharger are monsters but the Broncos and ramchargers are missing what the blazers/jimmys equipped with.....the G80 locking rear differential. I always go with a truck that in 2wd or 4x4 has a rear locker equipped....limited slip and open differentials doesn't cut in the off road world.

    Blazers are way better easier to work on doesn’t have the ifs ibeam 4by ! More options from GM , more room inside! And dont forget military chose it for combat over Ford And Dodge. In the 70’s dodge was the choice never Ford! Bad oiling also! The distributor is up front forging water it would die!

      That hill climbing test was rigged. If you look, the ruts the Blazer is in are much shallower than the Bronco. Also being able to shift while moving only on the Blazer is a lie. Both the Bronco and Blazer used the same transfer case.

      Im a Chevy guy but the Broncos are more luxurious and comfortable if not more powerful thanks to the 300 i6 the downfall of the Broncos is what chevy has that Ford at the time didn't have equipped.....a locking rear differential.
