Yes. It was well under 100 years. From what I understand, The Gospel of John was the last entry and they say it was around 70AD(40 years after Jesus' death). That being said the Gospels(Good News) and the facts of Jesus' life were spread via oration and traveling missionaries immediately. What was being said and spread was then written down a few years later.

    Outside bible sources of Jesus
    Thallus (52AD)
Thallus is perhaps the earliest secular writer to mention Jesus
    Tacitus (56-120AD)
Cornelius Tacitus was known for his analysis and examination of historical documents and is among the most trusted of ancient historians. In this account, Tacitus confirms several historical elements of the Biblical narrative: Jesus lived in Judea, was crucified under Pontius Pilate, and had followers who were persecuted for their faith in Christ.
    Suetonius (69-140AD)
Suetonius was a Roman historian and annalist of the Imperial House under the Emperor Hadrian. His writings about Christians describe their treatment under the Emperor Claudius (41-54AD
    Josephus (37-101AD)
In more detail than any other non-biblical historian, Josephus writes about Jesus in his “the Antiquities of the Jews” in 93AD.

@@NaneuxPeeBranerubbish. I am not an expert but I will try to summarize the scholarly concensus, albeit not as effectively as an actual scholar but here: Almost every respectable scholar will agree that Tacitus and Josephus documented Jesus' existence. You have to understand that historians did not write structurally, or stylistically, in a similar fashion to how we wrote today. They used to teach rhetoric/persuasive writing and speaking to those historians within antiquity, and these historians would combine and document oral traditions, aspects of mythology, they would often write persuasively, and document history in this fashion. Does this mean we take everything as literal fact? No. But we have read between the lines and understand that documenting history 2000 years ago, was ENTIRELY DIFFERENT from how we document history nowadays. Historically they also wrote about the most important events, not necessarily in chronological order. They were looking to write impactful accounts, with amped up rhetoric. Where nowadays we put an emphasis on orderly, structured, and detailed chronological accounts.
But, with any historical document, it is probably best for you not to assume every thing written is literal fact. Whether you are reading history from 10 years ago, or 1000 years ago. Additionally, it would be logically fallacious of you to immediately discredit entire works of history, just because there was an error/mythological account. Apply the same standard to history in the Modern era, historians are constantly in the process of correcting eachother in the premise we keep learning/uncovering more information each day.
Edit: fortunately, You parroting cheap atheistic talking points won't actually change the fact that most respected historians and scholars accept OP's sources as attestations to the life of Jesus.

why would she say matthew Luke and John didn't see Jesus? Mark wrote for Peter and was likely a teen whose mom would have them all over. This lady isn't the lady to be explaining things. Blind leading the blind.

  • @sinkorswimstars
    @sinkorswimstars Před měsícem +2

Mark was written 20-30 years after, possibly earlier, by Mark, the associate of the apostle Peter, and most scholars will agree its the first written, and would be the account of Peter. Matthew/Luke would have been written within 30-40 years after. These two are traditionally written by Matthew, the apostle (or possibly a scribe/assistant of his) and the latter is actually Luke the evangelist, associate of Paul, who also wrote the book of Acts. There is lots of debate on the timing, largely because Jesus predicted the destruction of the temple, some scholars date some of the gospels after 70 AD, simply due to the fact there is a bias against the ability to divinely predict/prophesy. Finally there is John, written 60-70 years after death, latest 100 AD. Written by the apostle John, one of the twelve apostles, direct eyewitness (some scholars might disagree, but would grant it is from the Johainne community, so worst case written by those that John preached to). So you have two books written by apostles, direct eyewitnesses, a third book written by the associate of Peter (another eyewitness and "the rock" that Jesus stated he would build his church on), and a fourth book written by Luke, while not an eyewitness, was the associate of Paul, who was deeply embedded in the earlt Christian community within 10-20 years after Jesus resurrected.
So long story short, this lady is wildly misinformed, Joe has no idea what he is talking about again, but is spreading non-sense as if it is fact. Joe is at the peak of the Dunning-Kruger effect curve. Unfortunately needs to be educated in this topic. God forbid he does and gets confused/lost in some of the Gnostic texts. However, due to joe's proclivity's, I have a feeling he will never be truly charitable to Christianity.
LASTLY: On the topic of written sources documenting Jesus Christ, we have plenty, and more sources have written about Jesus within 20-50 years after his death and resurrection, than have written about Roman emporers. Nabil Q did a talk at a university, I believe he mentioned Nero(?), basically, we have 3 primary sources for EMPORER NERO, but we take his history (largely) to be written as fact. But we question Jesus when we have 4 immediate gospel accounts in the Christian tradition, almost a dozen of Paul's letters written to churches within 10-30 years after the resurrection, and we have 3 external non-christian sources documenting Jesus (Tacitus, Josephus, etc). And we still get people spewing this nonsense. We have many sources documenting Jesus Christ, more sources than we have for many historical figures, more sources than some Roman emporers, as many sources as we have for Alexander the great. It's amazing how scrupulous people are when it comes to Jesus and Christianity, applying standards that are incredibly high, standards that are not applied equally when it pertains to historical figures. Even agnostic scholars like Bart Ehrman will emphatically attest to the historicity of Jesus Christ's existence, it is beyond mere conjecture, it is simply a fact. No other individual has as much written about them in the age of antiquity Palestine, or the roman empire.
I'll end off with one of a dozen quotes from religious scholars, and there are many similar quotes like this, and these are from secular scholars attesting this fact (it goes to say evangelical/Christian scholars would also be just as empathic, if not more so, about the fact of Jesus Christ's existence) :
“I don’t think there’s any serious historian who doubts the existence of Jesus …. We have more evidence for Jesus than we have for almost anybody from his time period.”
    ━━ Bart Ehrman

I’m not religious but I just did some research and it appears she’s incorrect. Here’s what I got. Gospel of Matthew: Traditionally attributed to Matthew, it was likely written around 41 C.E., approximately 8 years after Jesus’ death.
Gospel of Mark: The earliest Gospel, written by Mark, dates from around 65-70 AD, which is about 35-40 years after Jesus’ death.
Gospel of Luke: Written by Luke, it falls within a similar timeframe as Mark, around AD 75-100, approximately 40-65 years after Jesus’ death.
Gospel of John: The latest Gospel, authored by John, was written around AD 75-100, making it approximately 40-65 years after Jesus’ death.

Many are just conjunctions, adjectives, etc.
Many thoughts or parables are repeated in the Gospels.

The earliest of these writings are the Epistles of Paul, particularly 1 Thessalonians, Galatians, and 1 Corinthians, which are generally dated to around 50-60 CE. The Gospels, which provide more detailed narratives of Jesus' life and teachings, were written later, with Mark being the earliest, commonly dated to around 70 CE. The other Gospels (Matthew, Luke, and John) followed in the subsequent decades, with John being written around 90-100 CE.

I can promise you that if you compare the old self righteous self belief I got it figured out “ I need evidence “ type of you vs the new loving following in Jesus Christ and putting your faith in our savior our Lord who died for our sins type of you , if you ask me it’ll be a world of differences . Like I said it’s a way of living it’s about loving it’s about helping and being kind and spreading gods word , Jesus once said “ I am the light of the world , who ever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life “ Amen 🙏 Jesus is king surrender yourself to our Lord or surrender yourself to your thoughts your lust your desires your self righteousness and self belief , : God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life: Amen 🙏

This life is spiritual warfare a battle for our souls and we need God every second of this battle. The weapon and armor we use is God's Word. If satan can't get to you he will use other people to get to you. To try to tempt you with sin. I also think there is different types of evil spirits that are called demons lust, addiction, anger, depression, confusion, greed and other negative feelings that tempts you to sin and goes against God. Stay strong especially in times of temptations. The second you feel tempted is the second you pray against it. Because if you give satan more than a second he will take that second and stretch it out longer. It gets harder to fight temptation that's why you don't give satan any chances. You pray against temptation the second it enters your mind. Because that's satan tempting you it's not sin to get tempted. Because Jesus was tempted by satan and Jesus never gave into sin. Jesus fought temptation with God's Word. We have to do that too. We can be willing vessels for God or we can be willing vessels for satan. There is no in between. The only way people can be willing vessels for satan is if they give into those temptations to carry out evil. satan likes deceiving people so they blindly keep doing evil without realizing it. It's like being hypnotized willing to do something evil without realizing the true effect of it. The only way you become a willing vessel for God is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and asking forgiveness for your sins. Also being obedient to God's Word and putting God first is also important. Then you will feel God as you walk in the Spirit.
Ephesians 6:11-12 "11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." She's wrong about the synoptic Gospels and John's Gospel. John and Mathew actually walked and talked with the living Christ Himself. St. Mathew was the tax collector and John(James's bro) was a fisherman. St. John was at the foot of the cross during the Passion along with the Blessed Virgen Mary and St. Mary of Magdala. St. Matthew and St. John were part of the original 12 Apostles.
Plus, St. Peter -the leader of the Apostles- also wrote scripture that's in the New Testament. St. Paul met the resurrected Christ on the road to Damascus whilst butchering the very first Christians. His name at first was Saul of Tarsus, he hated the new movement of "The Way" -which is what the first Christians were called- he hated "blasphemers" and killed them. Then one day on the road to Damascus a flash of white light hit him, blinding him, and being called out by Christ Jesus of Nazareth. After he ran into Jesus, he fasted and was blind for three days, was healed by Ananias(in Christ's name) restoring his sight, and was baptized and given the name Paul by Christ Jesus.
St. Paul gave his life to Christ, traveled all throughout the Levant to spread the good news. He was eventually martyred in Rome by Emperor Nero. St. Luke "the Greek" wrote his Gospel from many sources of Christ's followers but mainly was inspired by Matthew and Paul. St. Mark got his Gospel mainly from St. Peter(Andrew's bro & also a fishermen). Cast that net one more time 😉
So, this gossip about "people that wrote the Bible never met Christ" is bullshit. And the dates of the very first texts are always going to be a debate amongst theologians, scientists, skeptics, and historians. This chick doesn't know her Bible or what she's talking about. Rogan needs to get Bishop Robert Barron or Sam Shamoun on and really get deep in the weeds about the greatest library to mankind, the Holy Bible!

Gee, I always thought "pearls before swine" meant putting something of great value in front of someone too ignorant to appreciate it?😉

Yeah a dude claiming a woman is actually Mary reincarnated is super weird, but a guy 2000 years ago walking on water, curing the sick and turning water into wine is perfectly believable 😂😂😂😂

"He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant-not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life."
    -2 Corinthians 3:6 KJV
Without the wisdom of the Holy Spirit and faith the written Word only brings death to the hearers. It's like adolescences swinging a sword around with no skill or understating.

Virgin or not Jesus still fulfilled the Old Testament prohecys.
      So that's of little importance.

None of the gospels were written 100 years after Jesus lived. The manuscript evidence shows that all of the New Testament was most likely well finished within the 1st century. Most scholars place the last of the four gospels which is the gospel of John as being finished in the the 90's A.C. That's still 55-65 yrs after Jesus and the tradition says it was directly by the apostle John himself or his own personal scribe and assistant.
