I love Neal and I love wrestling and that first question made it evident Neal doesn’t really know wrestling
There's a Christopher Guest comedy movie called "For Your Consideration" and it has a scene where an interviewer is asking a screenwriter a question, and the question just goes on and on for like 2 minutes straight. What Neal did here reminds me of that scene exactly, I wish I could find the clip from the movie to link it.

I'm not a wrestling fan but I love to hear people talk about what their industry is really like, as opposed to what the casual observer thinks it's like. Super interesting!

Comedy and wrestling are very similar in the sense that they both operate under show business rules where success is often not merit based.

There's already a combat sport at the Olympics that has proven to be impossible to judge unbiased: Boxing. I'm of the opinion the IOC will put anything in the Olympics that will get put asses in seats and make them money, regardless it's worth a damn, so it wouldn't shock me if it ever happens.

One of the problems with steroids in wrestling is you never some off your cycle because or your look and the schedule. Vs say a bodybuilder who competes then off cycles

I don't follow wrestling, but when he says that wrestlers get tested more than anyone, does that mean a bunch of wrestlers have also been busted for using steroids and then disqualified? Because that happens in sports all the time, and it is a bit suspicious if it doesn't happen in wrestling

Hogan wasn't a bad wrestler overall. He knew what he could do well and what he couldn't do well, and worked to the former rather than the latter. What changed around Hogan was fans expectations of what a match should look like in the ring. It's a lot like what's happening with the NBA right now with the talk about yesterdays stars, players and game play compared to now. It's definitely true that Hogan's in ring style didn't evolve with the time, but some of that was kind of out of his control.

I've been a never made it on the independent circuit for 25 years. Modern wrestling is soft. 1 in 50 can wrestle or do the old style.
90s wrestling still treated the business like a business. Now, all the fans left are smarks who think just because they listen to shoot interviews, they know the business, so now, places like aew, catsr to those marks, and make a product that casual fans cant watch. It sucks, i miss when the marks were behind the rails and not in the ring
