If somebody is alergic to everything that is tested for, you'd think they would have noticed by now?
Yeah man, it's a really bad feeling to have just one of them pop up, forget all of them lol. I feel so bad for him.
Ps. Have you encountered the bigass flapjack they give you to test food allergens
As a South African, I can say that no, lions don't hang about my house, but they do chase our car
I feel like most of the photos with wild animals in the yard are usually from people who went to some nature resort

Hello fellow south African
Healthcare here is fucked. My husband had a mental health emergency back near Halloween, we just got the bill for his ambulance transport and its nearly $700usd.. for a three mile drive with no medical assistance. He had been denied help from the inpatient facility because nobody was on staff to do intake two days in a row. After the incident occured, he sat in the Emergency waiting room for 8 hours before being/helped in any way.
As a British immigrant living in the US, big disagree. The NHS is honestly scary at times. I remember being 20, and unable to book to see a doctor to get a refill on antidepressants I was on at the time. I was having withdrawal symptoms, and couldn't even get through to the doctors office. I compare that to the *I pick up my phone and my doctor answers it*. Most healthcare comes through your employer and is decent, and honestly I really don't mind paying considering the absolutely massive difference in care quality and access.
@@chrisclarkson7469 the NHS was once great and it can be great we just need a better government. Also you know you can choose to use private healthcare over here as well so there's not really grounds to complain unless you're poor
@@chrisclarkson7469 yeah okay but at least here in the UK we don’t have to pay to stay alive lol??

Yes George. We Americans as a whole just take in stride the fact our country as a whole is tapped. (Also, more depressing "American healthcare system" shit, longtime cancer patients, obviously depending on cases, receive like.... multi-million dollar hospital bills, even if they don't survive. The immediate thought that comes to mind is Chris Ayers who played Frieza in the English dub of DBZ after he passed, his wife explained their hospital was like ...$7 million I wanna say? So we just accept that we're in eternal debt and our families will end the same if we're struck with some shitty lifelong disease)

They still have to pay taxes in America? Didn't they literally go to war because they had to pay taxes to England when they weren't living in England??
"You have become the very thing you swore to destroy"
They went to war with England because they were butthurt England raised some taxes on them after England went broke saving America from the French.
they mostly just left because they didnt think england was religious enough for them (which explains their current day citizens). when they became their own country, they actually had to pay higher taxes than they did when under uk control lmao
The fact that George didn't know what an allergy test looks like and called it a rash is SENDING ME
he also doesn’t know that restaurants buy ingredients in bulk
South African here. Having lions just chilling outside your house is actually incredibly rare, unless you live near any nature reserves or the more rural areas. Unsurprisingly, we don’t just have dangerous animals roaming the streets of our major cities
Unless you live in a location haha
Unless you count bugs, the most dangerous animal to humans is other humans (500k homicides annually).
This especially is true with South Africa having one of the world's highest intentional homicide rates.
george desperately trying to convince us that 1-2 inches is enough throughout the video ... *oddly specific thing to focus on*
That's the joke.
People think the NHS is bad because "OH I DON'T WANT TO WAIT FOR MONTHS FOR APPOINTMENTS!"
1) emergencies are not going to wait, you're not going to die
2) your primary care visits are scheduled months in advance anyway
3) Even if elective procedures or specialist visits were any more delayed in England than in the US (which let's be honest you can still fucking struggle to get specialist in America, even for months) you have the security that you can go to an emergency room if something worsens in that time and you don't have to worry about drowning in debt, even if it turns out to be nothing all too bad.
Let's stop pretending like national healthcare doesn't work in so many other countries and let's actually do something helpful for those in poverty or those with chronic illness
'1) emergencies are not going to wait, you're not going to die' is 100% untrue unfortunately. I know Covid has made it worse, but there's data of so many people dying by having emergency treatment delayed on the NHS. Personally my aunt died last year because of it, and I ended up in hospital for a month on the verge of death, parts of my body having to be cut away, because they delayed an important yet simple surgery which led to severe complications. And even then, my dad and the paramedics had to scream at the A&E people because they weren't going to get me in on an emergency, despite me having confirmed sepsis for 3x longer than the amount of time their own guidelines regard it as potentially fatal. There's numerous data of cancer patients who could've been saved dying because of it instead. The US healthcare system is awful, but don't believe for a second that the NHS isn't too, if you have anything remotely serious. 99% of the time they will try and let people die as an alternative to expensive treatment. Then they only step in if they have absolutely no choice.
(This isn't a failing with national healthcare though, this is precisely because the govt is trying to privatize it and make it just like America, so your overall point is totally right, but the NHS is an absolute ruined farce now)
Yeah uh, I just had a friend die of pancreatic cancer because they didn't catch It early enough despite knowing he had something wrong with him for about 6mths. Pancreatic cancer survival rates in the US are like 40% compared to the UKs 25%. The same is true across the board with cancer, and especially breast cancer. The US has the highest prescreening rates for cancer in the world, and generally it isn't that expensive. The stereotype exists because of stories like this. Stories like this exist because it's rare.
@@Child_Dog this is true, I've heard it's getting worse as they try to privatize. I've heard about other countries (Germany specifically) where it's supposedly better, and so some of my info is a mix of "The Best of Nationalized Health Care." Honestly a basic but comprehensive National Health coverage would really help a lot of people in America.
@Chris Clarkson except you're using a statistic for LOCALIZED (aka stays as one confined tumor) pancreatic cancer over 5 years vs what I believe you're using is the UK's overall (including ALL types) Pancreatic cancer survival statistic for one year. That's not a fair comparison and is manipulative of the data. The national average for 5 year survival rate in both America and England teeters between 5-10% (this also differs wildly depending on what type of pancreatic cancer the patient has), but even that isn't an entirely fair comparison because I couldn't find studies that looked at the exact same time frame.
I apologize for the hardship you, your friends, and others around you have gone through, and I don't say any of this to discredit your loss. I believe if you truly stand for something, back up that stance with real and true facts, that way you don't have to (intentionally or not) lie to get your point across. Cancer is one of the hardest things to fight, and we are still trying to figure out everything about it. If there was such a large discrepancy in the numbers, I would agree with you, but doing the research shows that there really isn't as much of a difference in America over the UK. I apologize if that's not what you wanted to hear.
@@rexana_rexana sure, except now compare lung, breast, and prostate across both countries. The US outperforms the UK Significantly across the board.
As someone who's been tested for allergies I can confirm that's exactly what it's like. They poke you with a little sample of the thing you're testing for and wait for a reaction
1:54 yes george as an american i can confirm, most ppl without health insurance are indeed in debt although if i’m not mistaken you’re legally required to have health insurance and if you don’t you also have to pay a fine so… there is no winning. just pray a Tylenol will fix whatever is wrong
the fine is no longer enforced on a federal level, but a few states still have mandates in place
@@banditfox as someone living in the lovely red state of texas under our beautiful leader greg abbott i’m gonna go out on a limb and say it’s probs enforced here as an educated guess
I remember for 6 months straight in 2019 i had to pay $2,000 a month for my health insurance until it could be approved for full coverage. I literally had to sell some of my own stuff on Facebook marketplace to make ends meet. That included all 3 of my guitars.

7:16 George doesn't understand buying in bulk
In all fairness to the quarts situation, quarts is an imperial measurement and most imperial measurements are stupid and hold 0 value in 99% of countries
@@potato1341 the UK measures distances in miles
As an aussie you're more likely to find lizards, snakes, and frogs in there in the north of the country but snakes absolutely do regularly get found in suburban backyards and occasionally houses, never heard of one in the toilet!
The allergy checks is called patch testing so there’s normally clear patches in the skin with a different thing under it to see how your skin reacts
"is everyone in America who doesn't have health insurance just in insane debt?"
Yes
7:56 lol this person pulled them up waaay too soon or didn't dig down far enough. You need to let them fully flower and then wait 2 weeks to dig them up, making sure to turn the soil and dig deep. :'''D
As a South African viewer I can safely say that I have never had lions in my garden. I have had a Cape cobra waiting for me right outside my front door once when I was at an air bnb but that's a pretty rare occurrence
Yes George. Everyone in South Africa has seen a lion chilling in their back yard. Thats totally what it's like... Yeah...
If you visit us we will let you pet them. They wont bute you if you're friendly.
Working in a restaurant I can confirm that they do store sauces and giant containers. 22 quarts is pretty common. And yes they take sauce out of the large containers and put it in smaller containers for daily use.

Its accurate for hermes, when i worked at the warehouse, they literally dont care about the packages, i loaded trailers for other warehouses, they said if its light you just throw it (even if fragile), and if its heavy use it to create a wall (so the pile doesnt fall on you/others. But all the packages with fragile where just thrown hard into the truck, even hitting the celing. Nothings ever safe at hermes pfft.

George getting confused by sauces being stored in a tub
The American healthcare system is basically balanced with the expectation that you have an enormous insurance corporation behind you going "oi, what's the real price, mate?" to the hospital, while the hospital is trying to come up with a 37 volume treatise on why an aspirin costs the whole of the global economy, and then they settle on it costing $40k.
This vid made me feel so old!

to george at 7:00 - a quart is an american liquid measurement. 1 quart is equivalent to 0.946353 liters. just useless information but now you know
If it's any consolation, the owner of the cat missing his friend adopted a new friend for him and he's no longer alone :)

For the sauce post Mr memeulous we store it in fat tubs cause it's cheaper and then we spoon it into the bottles...however...I work at a shitty local pub at 6 pounds an hour so it's probably different at other places

The allergy one looks that way from allergy testing they poke you with a bunch of different stuff to see if it swells up
My family has no health insurance so it's basically try to avoid getting sick as best as you can, I'd rather die of heart arrhythmia than pay a hospital bill of $3000 just to check what's causing it.
