As a humongous King Kong fan I’m really looking forward to getting this guy. So far the only figures from the Monsterverse S.H Monsterarts line I need are Godzilla 2019 (and the Burning version) and Godzilla 2014 (To use as Dagon)
Anthony posting when the sun’s up?! Unprecedented! Also, this figure seems super fragile at the hips. Saw someone break theirs on IG. Looks like they have the hips on a hinge in the middle of the crotch. Probably a bit too much friction on the center peg.
Looks decent. For me though, I would have preferred if Kong had been more like 7” to 8” size so he looks more impressive and monstrous on the shelf. Otherwise he just looks like a random small ape I’d buy out of a multi pack for kids.... that cost a hell of a lot. Basically on size with a Legends Hulk figure would have been way better... but I’m guessing for price point, they made it smaller to avoid costs. I’m liking the alternate roaring head, that adds weight and power to the figure. Engineering is fairly impressive.
Yeah, you're correct. Sh Figuarts Kamen Rider now uses the ball and the hinges on the hips except the Shinkocho Seihou line of Kamen Rider, it's a very good line but it's kinda expensive
Even though you are tackling a new ecosystem, it’s important to know that quality control of S.h. Monsterarts had a nose dive when Godzilla 2014 came out, and continued to went down with Shin Godzilla, Gojira 54, Godzilla fillus, mecha Godzilla, went back up with Godzilla earth, Godzilla 2019.
They need to do a Pacific Rim cross over...Monkey fights Lizard and then they have to team up to fight Robot. The Pitch Meetings episode for that movie would be great.

I'll have to reject monke and return to humanity on this one. Thought this might be better compared to their first go at King Kong from a while ago, but it still seems flimsy af and annoying to pose. Honestly, just sticking to NECA's Luca figure from Planet of the Apes series and call it a day. That's pretty much all you'll ever need for a modern Kong / generic gorilla figure you'll ever need.
honestly, SH is hot garbage... everything they do is small and overpriced. I have a few peaces I like but at times even marvel legends outdo them for less than half the price.
Figurearts a litte bit, Monsterarts is definitely garbage tho, they have good sculpts but a lot of QC issues, and sometimes ugly paint Edit: Extremely overpriced too
you're comparing figure lines with big quality differences lol. Sh are like x plus figures which are high detailed status in a smaller scale with good articulation. even the sh figuarts marvel line is better imo due to better detail better articulation and high possibility compared to their marvel legends counterparts. simply just say you can't afford them instead of making an excuse like that

I'm not saying i don't like SH.. it's just every time I buy one i end up paying somewhere between 60 and 80$ for a figure that comes in a box a little under the size of a vhs with tiny accessories. I loved the injustice joker but most of what I got was very underwhelming when every time i open a neca it's like "wow... this was 30 bucks?" I just don't get that same reaction from SH even if some impress me.

The burning one is ok, it's the only monsterarts (and monsterverse) I have, the articulation is great but the paint is ok

The shine is actually why I cancelled my preorder. Mezco one looks better but lacks articulation.
