She is the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina wrote and her Grandmother illustrated a book about why she sings barefoot. She was on a trip to Iran where her grandmother is from and met a street girl weighing people for money. Angelina sat and talked with the girl. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, a doctor but that it could never happen. Angelina told her to never give up hope. The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes and Angelina noticed her scarred bare feet so she gave them to her, and the little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day. Angelina sings barefoot to this day to remind herself (and the world) that there are still children in need. All book proceeds go to charity.
The band aint her family. She plays with some famous orchestras and musicians. I'm telling you shes a miracle.
9 years 2 months Bro. Pretty much exactly 1 year after she'd won Norway's Got Talent. And she's self taught. No mentors along the way, except for the passed legends and her grandmother. She is still alive and a BIG part of Angelina. She was considered a child prodigy herself and excelled in painting and writing. There are no other singers in Angelina's family as far as I'm aware. This was the first song from Angelina that I happened across on YT. No one told me to watch it; no one told me what to expect.
Before finishing the video, I had to research whether this was AI or a voiceover of an adult. I learned it’s ALL Angelina, and I made puddles on the table under my eyes as I watched.
My first exposure to Angelina too about a year and a half ago. I had been song and movie watching reaction videos for a while but usually only of material I knew. I just happened to see an intriguing thumbnail tgat said something like “Amazing 9 year old sings I Put a Spell On You.” I decided to check it out. I was totally blown away and after a few days of finding out more about her I became hooked and have listened to her every day since.
Thanks for the wonderful and aware reaction, this song is one of the important steps to understand the singularity of Angelina's talent. It's unreal like her, from a very young person, she choice to use her incredible passion and understanding through music in a splendid way, especially for these legendary songs. She is definitely the only 9-year-old girl who understands and has the courage and the ability to sing this song from Screaming' Jay, so imbued with his power, and reorganize it according to her musical sensibility and vision. I sincerely believe that this it's the most beautiful version of this song, over 60 years since it was written and there are much of versions of it, also interpreted by great singers. 💛🧡❤

@@DonVonI am not certain on how far down the rabbit hole you are as of yet, but, to answer some things sir, no, her family would be what is concidered upper middle class before she was found on nprways got talent. not sure if she was recording before then. she ran into a girl with no shoes and sings even to this day with no shoes for until all kids have shoes. she was i think 9 or 10 in this. She is one that is all natural talent. She writes her own instrumental and comands the way she is going to sing.
Absolutely loved your reaction. She started singing at 18 months as a child prodigy. She was heavily influenced by her grandmother who listened to jazz and who was also a child prodigy. Pls go back to when she was 6 and she was singing I Who Have Nothing in a studio for the very first time. She has totally known what she was doing. Angelina arranges her own music and probably started at about this age. You have plenty of time to get to know and listen to her. She has over 150 covers that she's done and with all her skills has totally made them her own. She released her first EP with 6 of her own songs. You can listen to those. Maybe start with The Good In Goodbyes. The lyrics and instrumentals are the best. You'll find that Angelina's followers are very protective and very knowledgeable of this Barefoot Princess. We all , as you will, love her very much. Angelina has thousands, millions, even billions of verws. That's right, BILLIONS!!! Enjoy getting to know this beautiful, talented young woman. Sir, as far as we know, God gave her the deeper voice and a high intelligence, to use it properly. After discovering Matt and Soul at age 2, she started practicing almost every day since age 3. When she was age 4, she visited the academy for music and performing arts in Oslo for technical advice. When she was 6 yo, she went to normal school (wiz at languages and mathematics) and visisted the "after school programm of the academy. At age 9 here she was a veteran already. She was adored, loved and HIGHLY respected ba every musician in Scandinavia. She is THE NATIONAL TREASURE OF NORWAY, that is not a joke!!!!!

Let's face it the more you watch and listen to Angelina Jordan, the more you realise the fans are not blowing smoke. Just listen to a couple of songs and you might miss it. Especially if the songs are not to your taste. She never shows off. This song, because that's what it requires you see alot in one song. However having watched her back catalogue. Each one is different. That's how she learned complete control. Learned how far you can strip it back, where to add grit, what kind of vibrato to use etc. I have seen reactors say, she doesn't have range or power. That's because in that song the emotion was best conveyed with quiet fragility. Her runs are exquisitely tasteful. Arianna Grande can sing up a storm but does she over-egg the pudding. Angelina is an artist. It's about the song not her showing everything she can do. So we never know. What will she give us. It keeps us intrigued.

Angelina was 9 years old in this performance - Her nationality is Norwegian but is fluent in English even at this age - This song was not arranged for her - she wrote the vocal arrangement based on listening to the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins version and communicated to the band how she wanted it to be played - in fact, at the beginning of the video you see Angelina writing down some last-minute changes and it is read by the bandleader. You also notice that her own handwritten notes are on the music stand in front of her as she sings. For more insight into how Angelina works, here is a rehearsal video with some of the same band members at the same age (9 yrs old) - You will see that she is aware of what each musician is doing and communicates to them what she wants to do. The first thing she says is that she wants to start, followed by her saying she wants to start over, later she tells the pianist that the key is too low and that she wants to raise it a half-tone, then at the end of the song she changes the ending on the fly. I had been watching her sine she was 7 when I first saw this and although I knew she was impossibly good, like you, I couldn't understand how she even knew this song, let alone want to try to sing it. It was at this point that I stopped thinking of her as a gifted child singer and realized she was nothing less than a genius. I've heard a number of versions of this song but this is the best I've ever heard. Simply impossible! You'll never hear her sing like this again but she'll never cease to amaze you. 😎

Angelina performs barefoot to this day. In her music videos they usually make a point of showing her bare feet. She will wear shoes while singing during rehearsals or casual singing in a non performance situation.
Angelina’s family has always been fairly well off so she probably feels very fortunate for what she has and shows empathy for those who aren’t so fortunate. Her winnings from Norway’s Got Talent was donated to children’s charities. Most of her public performances were for charities.
As a child she would go out with her grandfather as he gave food to the homeless. When he passed away she wrote a song about him (Million Miles). The first line of the song is reference to when she would go out on the streets with him. She was 14 when she released the song.
No musicians or singers in her family. Her natural talent and hard work since she was about 3 has allowed to be what she is today.
Her goal since she was a little girl was to be a superstar to sing for the world and spread love.
The lyrics to her sings are usually positive messages. No real negativity, sex or profanity which unfortunately is what is in a lot of pop music today. She doesn’t need to strut her stuff on stage or in videos like some artist think is necessary.

Angelina has been at it since she was 18 months old: there is a cute little video of her singing at that age :-) Her singing really took off when she entered Norway Got Talent at the ripe age of 7. Even since she has been working very hard to improve her art in all ways.
Her family wanted her to have some sort of a normal youth so only recently she released an EP with originals at the age of 17. She mentioned she had about a 100 songs to choose from.
It is known she has had musical training. For what purpose is not entirely clear: her family wants her to make her own choices and keep her own voice. Possibly the voice coaches helped her to sing healthy and not damage her voice and perhaps reach specific goals.
She also plays musical instruments. Piano she has been playing since she was young, more recently she likes to strum her guitar while singing. Reportedly she also plays the violin and the flute. And yes she still performs barefoot (rehearsals she does with shoes or slippers).
I can tell you WILL enjoy the future with Angelina....9 here and will be 18 on Jan 10th 2024. H er voice got stronger as she got older....she is amazing then, and more so now.

Yes, she began singing at 18 months as evidenced by a video from her grandmother who does most of the recording of her performances and other day-to-day stuff. I've heard it said that Angelina is a 17 year old with 16 years of seeing experience, which is true so she has performed hundreds of times and even at this point was quite seasoned.

Firstly she will never make sense , you get to accept it and also accept that she will always surprise you and one of her many names is the girl with a thousand voices so a far as her voice is concerned to put her in a box or contain her is not going to happen she has sung in many styles and genres the most versatile artist I have ever heard. She first sang at 18 months old then by 2/3 searching you tube for the jazz greats taught herself to sing mastered jazz by 7 yrs old , won Norways got talent starting at 7 wining it at 8yrs old she wanted to audition earlier but she had to wait to turn 7 , another name was given to her by now "The Queen of Jazz" so early years her foundation in jazz was cemented. There's no autotune, she has been singing on pitch early on. The proof is in the Norway's Got talent where she sang 4 songs live at ages of 7 and 8. Pitch perfect.

She continues to write in her journals to this day. She says that her song ideas and lyrics for her originals come from her journals. She recently admitted to writing over 100 songs.

Angelina was near her 9th birthday when she created her arrangement and then took control of the studio and musicians to deliver a powerful, emotional performance, Screamin Jay Hawkins would be proud of. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman.
Angelina started singing around 18 months of age, after listening to Whitney Houston on CZcams. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was a prodigy as an artist and poet while growing up in Iran.
Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where starting around age 4, she had training in music but no vocal training. Her teachers were smart enough to not attempt to change what she was doing vocally. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage.

At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes.
Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true.
Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. Angelina, at age 6 and 7, did record a few songs in a recording studio at her school, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 7 year old.
At age 7, Angelina’s audition on Norway’s Got Talent, was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried.
Musicians working with Angelina would call her the boss since she knew exactly how she wanted to sing the song and would confidently instruct the musicians. While one could say Angelina was mimicking other artists, there is no doubt she had her own style and created her own arrangements, even at this early age.
Angelina had turned 8 years old for her next performance on NGT, covering Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition to trim the number of vocalists who passed their audition, and was not performed in front of an audience.
In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them.
In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists.
When asked what she would like to do with the prize money she won (500,000 kroner or about $80,000), Angelina replied, “I want to give it to the poor children”. The money was placed in a trust and available when Angelina turns 18.
Record company executives flew their private jets to Norway to attempt to sign 8 year old Angelina but all were thankfully rebuked. Disney also made an offer but not accepted.
In December 2014, Angelina realized a life-long desire to sing at the Save the Children's Peace Prize Celebration which is part of the Noble Peace Prize celebration.
Angelina’s family took her to United States, Brazil, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, South Korea, Singapore and Mexico among other corners of Earth, to perform for heads of state and to help raise money for charity. All before Angelina turned 14.
At age 11, Angelina recorded her “It’s Magic” album which has, at times, been in the top 10 best selling jazz albums. The album can be purchased on iTunes or Amazon.
On June 27, 2018, at age 12, Jordan performed “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London. She has said that was the high point of her young career which was already in it’s 6th year.
During 2018, Angelina lost her paternal grandfather, her friend Avicii and one of her idols, Aretha Franklin. She did a moving tribute for each.
In 2019, Angelina accepted an invitation to compete in the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent (AGT), The Champions. She had, since age 3, wanted to perform for Simon Cowell and she earned his praise with her genius arrangement of “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The surviving members of Queen loved it so much they put a link to it on their Twitter. Angelina’s family refused to sign any agreement with AGT which would give Simon any control over her career.
Angelina, before age 14, had covered more than 130 songs from 80 different artists, spanning at least 8 genres, all of which are available on CZcams.

The pandemic hit shortly after her performances on AGT and likely caused a change of plans by her family, most notably her Uncle Michael who is her manager. Her family agreed to a contract with Republic Records in August 2020. Republic Records declared Angelina Jordan their highest priority new artist. Reportedly her family requested Republic to allow her as normal a childhood as possible and therefore have yet to fully promote her.
During the pandemic, Angelina was often seen buying meals for the homeless on the streets of Los Angeles.
In November 2020, Angelina released “Million Miles” which she wrote after the passing of her beloved maternal grandfather. She dedicated the song to anyone who has ever lost a loved one.
Angelina had previously released, 3 other original songs: “What is Life”, “Oslo” and “Shield”
In April 2021, her original “7th Heaven” was released. A jazzy, danceable, inspiring song.
Angelina had concerts in Norway in July 2022.
In December 2022, Angelina performed at the Asian American Awards in Los Angeles.
On 2/27/23, Angelina performed at the FIFA Awards ceremony in Paris, France, with a viewing audience in the millions.
On May 5th, 2023, Angelina released her original "Love Don't Let Me Go"
On July 21, 2023, her “Old Enough” EP was released with 5 new original songs: “Fire and Rain”, “Diamond”, “Now I’m the Fool”, “All My Fault” and “Good in Goodbyes”
Personally, Angelina as a great human being and her music came into my life when I needed it most. Her music has improved the quality of my life more than I can express. I now introduce her to as many people as I can, with the hope her music will do the same for others. We know once her family believes the time is right and allows Republic Records to fully promote her, she will become the superstar she has always dreamt and believed she would be.

Nobody in her family is a singer or vocal coach or even a musician. They don't have any input in her choices when it comes to arranging the music she sings, and she does her own arrangements. The only input they had was to forbid certain lyrics or songs that were deemed too mature. She could practice but not perform those like she has a cover of back to black by Amy Winehouse but she had to rewrite the lyrics for example/ They also prevented her from really starting a career until she finished high school, it's happening right now that's she's 17 and finished with school but before she could only record some songs on youtube and do a select few concerts during school holidays. They made sure she could develop her talent and keep a childhood.
She had music classe sand was taught how to use her voice without damaging it but never had formal vocal coaching it's all her own raw talent and experimentation with her voice.
She is 9 in this video and the band is performing with her for the first time, it was hired with the studio for this specific recording she wanted to do.
The trumpeter played for her on her performance of Summertime on Norway’s Got Talent the previous year.

Thank you for featuring Angelina a second time, I hope you will do many more reactions to her, as she is well worth every nanosecond you spend on her. I have watched and listened to her in awe since she released her first video on CZcams, and what has been evident to me from the start is that she sings with total conviction, despite the fact that she is far too young to have experienced the events suggested in the lyrics of the song she has chosen to sing. But it is not only that, for strange as it may seem is the even more remarkable fact that she can convey the appropriate emotions within those lyrics to her listener.
This is Angelina's tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, who wrote and performed the song in 1956 (50 years before Angelina was born). She based her arrangement on his original performance, although she discarded all the theatrics and allowed her voice and body language to tell the story. The song has been covered by many singers over the years, but to my knowledge, Angelina is the only one who has sung in the same style as the original.
There are many things I found particularly worthy of note in this video. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed. Another Angelina "Angel" has pointed out something else which I had missed, and it is added at (l) below,
(a) Angelina finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled.
(b) A brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, Angelina's maternal grandmother, a well known and respected Iranian Artist and poet who was also a child prodigy. She was the person who recognised Angelina's talent at an early age and exposed her to all the old time jazz singers.
(c) The candle with an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins on it.
(d) The smile on the face of the Bass player.
(e) How she rose on to her toes on the last occasion she sang "...because you're mine"
(f) The fact she occasionally refers to her written notes on the music stand. Possibly to remind herself of the last minute changes she wanted.
(g) Her unwavering passion throughout the performance. Evidenced by her facial expressions and the way she uses her hands and body to emphasise the direction of the song.
(h) The way she takes a breath just before she starts the last phrase (I don't care.....) and that breath lasts the whole of that sustained note. A child of that age should not have the ability to hold a note for that length of time.
(i) At the end, when she sings I Doooont Caaaaare, she employs TWO separate and distinct vibratos to the word care, a wide one to start the word and a tighter one to close the word
(j) The instant transformation from "performance" mode to that of a pensive child, possibly wondering whether she could have done better. I comment on the "pensive" child because Angelina has an incredible work ethic and seeks to perform every song in a way she considers will bring out all the emotions within the lyrics and melody.
(k) Perhaps the most remarkable is that despite her tender years, she sings with such total conviction that her authenticity is never in doubt. It is easy to believe that she has experienced the events described in the lyrics. It is not only her voice that is mesmerising, it is also her facial expressions, and the way she uses her hands and body. Her stage presence is electrifying.
(l) The performance absolutely is powerful and raw but to me, I am amazed that this is balanced by the profound beauty of the ending phrase; the last twelve words of the song. AND… they are essentially sung a cappella!
Angelina has been referred to as the "Queen of Jazz", "The Barefoot Princess", "The girl with a thousand voices". All of them are true, but I prefer the nickname I gave her after listening to about six of her performances. For me, she is "The Chameleon of Song", for as a chameleon is able to change its colour to match its surroundings, so Angelina is able to change the "colour" of her voice to accurately match the needs of the song to reveal the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Even more remarkable is her innate ability to communicate those same emotions to her listeners.
Those of us that follow her just love our Angel totally. There's an awesome vibe she projects that is beyond understanding. This young lady with bare feet and open heart will bring you on a journey her journey a wonderful place of incredible music wrapped in sweetness.

Check, I'd Rather Go Blind as a fresh 12yo. It's quite astounding. With power and sass at a level no one has recorded before. No one would want to follow her 'sangin'. She got some early voice training at a private school, along with other music classes. Her homes appear to be elegantly furnished. No stylistic or compositional guidance from others. She never makes bad choices. BTW, from the beginning, the musicians call her 'The Boss'. They do her arrangements and she knows when their parts are wrong.

She seems kind of shy when Rosie O'Donnell is interviewing her, but all that goes away when she crushes the song. Also, her performance on America's Got Talent of Bohemian Rhapsody when she was 13 is a must see. Better than the acoustic version, my opinion. Then do her 4 Norway's Got Talent performances at 7/8. Two Billie Holiday songs (one acapella) Bang Bang and Summertime. She won the show. Then skip to her 10 yr old performances, then 11, 12, 13 14, 15 16. HUNDREDS of clips, live indoor and outdoor, tik toc. She even sings in the Republic Records indoor parking lot. Any way you go you are in for a true musical treat.
