- What does the Strange Capsule do? Now that we finally made one spawn I thought it would be fun to experiment with it to see if it does anything. Other than breaking open after a few days nothing seems to change that I could find,,

For people reading the comments 2 years later their is a rare chance for a alien to wave at the bus stop at night, that’s the extra Easter egg.

The internal event code for it is "cropCircle" (according to the SV Wiki), maybe it will have some affect to large Wheat fields? Well, that's what I think at least since crop circles are usually found in wheat fields

I thought I read somewhere that it scans 50 random tiles on the field. I can't say for sure though
You mentioned Krobus in the video. I got an idea that maybe if the capsule is broken at winter some trail would be left on the snow?
Edit: Ok so it doesn't seem to matter if it's broken at winter, was just an idea I had.
Aaron Nyman great idea maybe then the trail could lead to the blob or a clue. Perhaps it has multiple parts and it's kinda like a scavenger hunt

The strange capsule is kind of reminiscent of the strange capsules that you’re able to break in Sebastian’s 6 heart event while you’re roleplaying.
M P C but those contained humans because the dialouge option said put these poor souls to rest. They also had human silhouettes in them.
Well, that makes sense. I guess I was wrong on this point. But, I still find their resemblance uncanny.

We see the Alien ship on some nights, but there appears to be no correlation to the UFO event.
We know that the Galaxy sword comes from a Prismatic Shard
We know that the Prismatic Shard is of "Unknown Origins"
Those are the only outer space references I can think of in the game.
Things to try:
Capsule in between the desert pillars
Using a shard on a capsule
Breaking it open with a Galaxy Sword
Putting one in the Adventurers Guild to see if it gets on the board
giving one to Krobus

I'd recommend trying the Dwarf. There's a book in the library that explains a theory that the Dwarves are actually aliens. Maybe the home planet is trying to contact them? Also, is it possible that the capsule registers as a gift with some character and not with others? Try everyone if that's a possibility! Can't wait to see what you find out!

According to the wiki, there is a 1% chance to see a dark creature wave at your during the dark at the bus stop or in town after it breaks.

If you have a pet (cat or dog) maybe place the strange capsule in a world where you don't have a pet, it could be like a secret pet or something idk

You said that the time since capsule spawn to capsule being broken shortened. Maybe you have to place one, wait for it to hatch , place another one and it will hatch sooner, repeat until something happens maybe.

Yeah, I can't find it would do anything in the code. When it breaks, it just removes the Strange Capsule and places Empty Capsule in the same spot, no calls to anything else, and no other placements. Also I can't find the code checking for the Empty Capsule anywhere, so I don't think that would do anything.
can you place it in the wizard's circle, or in that circle where you trade a prismatic shard for the sword? I doubt they will do anything, but just a few suggestions
Stardew valley 1.5 does something with it 1: it makes it more common 2: there is a 1% chance for a black figure to wave at you in the bus stop after dark

That's a great idea! As for charging it, I theorize one would either have to place the capsule and apply a battery pack, or, following the convention of ridiculously rare occurrences, you would have to place a brand new capsule on your farm and hope a bolt of lightning strikes it before it breaks in 3 days, and perhaps surrounding the capsule with lightning rods could help with this. Just a theory.
Can you use any item on the capsule? like gifting or feeding.. Maybe it flees because it has no food

Hey, I’ve had this weird thing happen to me in my multiplayer world, and I haven’t seen any information posted about it anywhere! While my friend was in skull cavern trying to reach floor 100 for Qui’s challenge, (this happened multiple times on different days) I usually was working on the farm. I’ve had around 3-4 prismatic shards seemingly fall from the sky. I’d see or hear the sound of an item bouncing somewhere on the farm, and whenever I went to investigate, it was a prismatic shard! I’ve tried to find anything online with other people experiencing the same thing but I haven’t found anything about it. My world is saved on PlayStation. I know you’ve moved past Stardew a bit, but I thought this was interesting and I’m not sure if it’s a glitch in my world or an actual occurrence people don’t know about!
-gift it to the wizard?
-try putting it in every interior cell in game and let it hatch? (including barn etc)
-gift it to every npc in general?
-do random things with it such as trash it or throw it into things like the kegs etc?
-maybe a witch or fairy could interact with it?
-maybe something involving the alien that flies through the sky on the secret mountain top part?
-keep it in inventory while doing a variety of random things?

try the town boxes you get the statues from, maybe putting a capsule or broken capsule in those does something? or maybe try interacting the capsule with the statues themselves?

Thank you for going out of your way to make this video about this! Maybe a video exploring the owls mysteries if it has any means to this. A theory is that something can maybe summon or make the alien appear in the game. Maybe the owl itself has something to do with it. Just throwing out ideas here.
Have you tried donating it to the museum? Or donating any of the other "hidden" items. On a side note have you ever noticed that the wizard and the museum guy both wear cowboy hats?

This reminded me of Sebastian's 6 heart event- The game says that there are strange capsules and you can see something in it. And when you bust it, whatever was in the capsules escaped.

What about talking to the wizard while you're holding it? Also, can you place it on the wizard's alter on the floor? Or even the witch's house. Unless it's used for something else, there's a perfectly sized red mark on the floor.
the red circle in the witch's hut and the wizard's basement are teleportation circles that connect to each other.

Super rare items like this don't seem to create any special dialogue or cutscenes. Unless the dev decides to change the spawn rate, I doubt the capsule would be of any use.

The capsule is just an Easter egg for ConcernedApe's next game, on which strange creatures wreak havoc on the world after some dumb farmer placed capsule all over town
i only just learnt that the stone owl is rare. i got one at the beginning of my play through and i thought it was normal to get. i also got the strange capsule in my second year and searched up this video to see what it was.

it was expliained by the developer that it is kind of like a hint how slimes and other enimies appeared on the planet stardew valley is a real life type game and monsters do not exist in real life so it was a explaination to how slimes and stuff first appeared and then continuously reproduced which lead to such devastating number increase in them
In a scene in a heart event with Sebastian the one with Sam and him playing a game a scene came up where you have to pick a side where you could go (1 the hallway which is where the capsules are and 2 the staircase ) so when you walk into the hallway which is glowing green there were 3 capsules like the ones you have, but the ones in the scene were glowing and had people in it...

Literally just had a strange capsule spawn on my farm abt 2 ingame weeks ago (so like a couple hours ago) without mods, I was so suprised haha. We'll see if I see anything.

I started seeing a shadowy thin figure some night after that strange capsule event. The first time I saw it, I literally rushed home to save and exit the game, lmao. That thing was the sole reason why I start going home before the sun set T_T

Maybe try clicking on the hidden alien in the opening "Stardew Valley" sign?

Aside from that, try checking to see if it interacts with any of the alien themed items in the game
(UFO event, rarecrow, ext)
Also try having it free/placed in all event days, specifically the "Dance of the moonlight Jellies"
Maybe it has something to do with the secret peak, since that's the only area in the game that the UFO can be seen

Maybe the lights change as time passes to indicate power level and maybe you can re-charge the capsule with a battery pack?
Maaaaybe if you keep it in your inventory until winter then let it spawn in the snow, maybe it would leave tracks. You should also put it back in the same spot it spawns JUST IN CASE, like how Krobus leaves tracks in the winter in a specific place.

What about the bath house? Or do you think the symbols on the floor of the Wizard's hut would have an impact? (eg. the location of placing a shell in the desert gives you a particular weapon, maybe the block ID where the capsule is placed has an impact too?)
Maybe the capsule is foreshadowing some kind of sequel to Stardew Valley or some other game Eric Barone is working on, kinda like that strange souvenir in Pokémon X and Y.

Whenever you go through one of Sebastian's cutscenes where you play the board game, I recall it mentioning and showing some very similar capsules

The only place which might have a hint is when you date the girl (I forgot her name) who builds robots and one of her heart event sends a robot to space. You might find something in that.

You should try the infinite day glitch, and go through a few days and see if you can actually see it crack open. I know it will take ages, and I will not actually expect you to see this or try that out for the sake of your own sanity, plus you have a job. @DangerouslyFunny if you notice after it breaks in the slime hutch it leaves a green residue on the floor! Doesnt affect anything but its something different.

have you tried having all types of animals and seeing if it has an effect on them or there bi products? like the special eggs you can get ect
After the capsule breaks, you can see a dark shadowy creature around the edges of the bus stop and the town. It's pretty rare, however. I've only seen it once, and only noticed it right as I made it to the edge of the map going back to my farm.

Really has me curious. Taking a look at the game's code. If anyone is curious the game was written in C# using the XNA Framework. You can use Red Gate's Reflector to decompile the code mostly into it's original form, some oddball functions wont decompile and trying to view references on objects into such functions will crash reflector (probably selective obfuscation at play).
have you tried putting it on a display, taking to the library or building a barn and putting it on one of the item display tables?
