The problem with this is the "intelligence" doesnt apply to strategy, they had planning on the same level as the idiots, if they had scouted for resources then prioritized acquiring them then this wouldve gone differently, but the "geniuses" just walked around like "hurr durr build more tent hehe" while researching technologies with no motivation to actually realize them.

Yeah resources and quantity triumps everything. Even idiots with ideal conditions will eventually birth geniuses.
We learned that no matter how smart you are, someone with more resources can still beat you. It's like playing chess with a pigeon; it knocks over all the pieces, poops on the board and then struts around like it won.
I would recommend turning on angry villagers and getting a mod that stops corpse looting

if the war had taken longer to start the geniuses probably would’ve had a solid chance, they managed to get a bit into the resources right before the war and may have gotten some ore soon
This is probably the biggest "We live in a society" moment I have seen in my life so far.
A town with out any wood will sometimes just get some wood. Idk why it happens, or how often. But I've definitely seen towns with 0 wood available make buildings, but not very many.

You should install a mod that prevents corpse looting. Literally ALWAYS the stupid guys win because they steal the strong weapons and armor.
Edit: I know it isn't realistic, but it ruins the concept of the video if the idiots can take the only advantage of the geniuses away. In this game are dragons, so what's up with this "bUt iT isN't ReAliStiC" anyway.

My favorite example of this question is the SciCraft guys doing a peaceful mode challenge in Minecraft. They could do more than most easy players could dream of in any mode in a restrictive setting with limited resources.
I think this makes for a great analogy of society. No matter how smart or hard working you are you will never succed over somone with resources and conections. The system is built against you, but for the rich.

If the geniuses were geniuses they would have explored until they found actual resources, packed up, and moved there like pioneers. But what do I know, I'm unfamiliar with the mechanics of this game/simulator.
It seems to me the AI/programming is not that deep. The stupid/genius trait apparently only influences how fast the population unlocks new technology. Running this scenario a few more times could result in the geniuses winning beça that time they took an approach that gave them access to resources first

Hmmm nah. Sometimes people from places with not much resources became tougher, stronger, and more innovative. That's how you end up with horse nomads conquering the civilized world from the Yamnaya all the way to the Mongols.
Even today, countries with not much resources gets to stay rich via neo-colonies, manufacturing, work ethic, high level of education, etc. Singapore, Taiwan, and SKorea are a good example.
Is that why there's a pretty good correlation between general prosperity of a country and its IQ?

Fun fact the thing is the humans in the game CAN KNOW they are in a simulation, there was once this time where a group of people in my world got the madness trait, and it says on the top left of my screen that they realised they are in a box, which is a pretty cool detail the developers added in the game, they eventually died, after that I never experienced anything like that in the game anymore perhaps it was rare, and i still have no idea how they knew, i forgot to check their intelligence so i never knew wether they were smart or not.

There's a big difference between starting in land that's 15%-20% rich in resources compared to "normal" and starting in a desert.
It was an interesting situation, but I'd just launch another one, idiots get the same as before, geniuses get a little bit more resources than before and let's see what happens.

Yeah unfortunately in this game and in real life even if you're smart you still need to have access to material to even do anything. Even smart people still need to rely on loans and investors to manufacturer things. They can dumpster dive and get a job to make their prototype but after that they need to hope an investor is interested in their invention in order for them to mass produce it

Individualism/Capitalism (just a different name of competetivism), the belief in competetion and that only few should win, while everyone else are left to fend for themselves.
Militarism or honorism, the belief in military might or honor, especially during combat or any confrontations.
Industrialism, the belief in industry and artifical constructs, no matter the environmental cost.
I should note that the persons or the society surrounding you must have none of the opposing ethics, else they will cooporate with you or leave you alone. However you are somewhat right, as yes, those who have overwhelming/ superior resources and thus the military might will almost always win against those who have overwhelming/ superior knowlegde. Ethics only change how the strong part interacts with the weaker one.

Yeah the only way I see the geniuses winning is if they have more time. The idiots were triple the geniuses size so they won by overwhelming their opponents, but if the geniuses managed to somehow make developments, whether it be more people or somehow get better resources, they would be able to overrun the idiots. So the idiots actually made a wise move ironically.
