Hard work pays off for the big man.
He paid for a private fitness coach and pt in the Bruce era because he felt there wasn't enough fitness standards.
He always showed up, when adjusting to the league, played as a lone striker with no support and he struggled. But he never once hid away, he always grafted on the pitch.
He deserves the success he's getting because of his determination to succeed in the toon. He's an absolute top class player. He's everything a fan wants, passion, power, stamina, ability, and a real authenticity as a person. He has never let newcastle down, even in his early days of struggle. It wasn't his fault he was forced to play as a number 9, in a system that offered zero support, he had to adjust to playing against prem centre backs. And he has seriously learned from that, Improved every season since his arrival.
First name on the team sheet now. You can play him anywhere and he will never let you down. Hope he gets the Brazil call up he deserves because there's not many midfielders out there that offer what he does. And imagine what that would do for his confidence.
Hope he stays here for a long time and shows his quality on the champions league stage in seasons to come.

Honestly that is probably one of the best summarisation I’ve seen of somebody, he’s turned into a phenomenal player, I’ll admit I called him every name under the sun when he wasn’t able to perform but now I’ll eat my words this man has proven every single person who doubted him wrong, absolute powerhouse in the midfield and crazy to think Bruce had someone if his potential in his greasy fingers

A lot of comments says it was a defensive error, but Joelinton nevertheless is left with work to make the goal:
He times his run, brings down the ball, goes past the keeper, puts it in the net from an angle
Very many other players couldn't have managed to take down the long ball that silky smooth while on the run
Had the Spurs striker managed to take down the long ball the same way he would have had a free run on the Newcastle goal, instead it was Newcastle that went up and scored number 4

@@RiJeSeK Joelinton started his career as a 9, now he is playing in almost every midfield role. He knows how to use physical strength and height in midfield to hold the ball and win duels, it is very difficult to beat him in a physical duel. I cannot fail to mention that he evolved technically, improved in passing, finishing, vision of the game, dribbling and positioning.
That's thanks to coach Eddie Rowe. But, I have to praise Joelinton's humility and professionalism, there are few players who accept to leave the attack to assume defensive functions in the midfield in such an abrupt way. Last season, Joelinton was one of the players with the highest number of tackles in the Premier League.
I think I got so distracted with the score line that I forgot about joelington touch that was absolute beauty

@@jsan2k I’ll be honest here, there was a time when I dreaded seeing his name and Lascelles in the starting eleven. Joelinton has become somewhat an integral part of our team now. Really so happy for him that he’s enjoying his football again.
