#pikmin4 #reaction - Hry
You will come to learn that Pikmin is a horror franchise
6 words: long legs jumpscare And- "roller falling noises followed by you know what Scream"
Stresss
@@WillyLongLegs Man at legs, Smoky prog, and water wraith give me war flashbacks.
Water wraith gives me PTSD
As a kid, Pikmin 1 terrified me and yet it was my favorite game. It taught me the themes of nature from its beauty to its horror and you need to accept both to get the full view of the wild. That's the beauty of Pikmin. Also, leadership of course.
Ok but here’s the insane bit. Every single enemy adds a small jingle to the area theme that it’s in. So the game has almost 800 pieces of music in it
anger
THAT'S A LOT😨
Including any variations some enemies have for being asleep/awake, among other things like the big bosses!
Something worth noting about the drumline cadence is that each enemy also has their own unique theme that mixes in with it, resulting in notably more complex music when actually fighting them in-game.
Also, Groovy Long Legs is a boss, which not only produces its own theme (yep, this is diegetic) but dances to it too, timing its stomping attacks to the beat.
It's also worth noting that if you wait on the sublevel before fighting Groovy Long Legs you can hear speaker beeps, the kind a speaker would make while trying to connect over Bluetooth or something and once the fight starts you hear a sort of connect noise and then the battle theme begins playing.
Not to mention it also drops a wireless speaker treasure after you defeat it so basically it's a big ol spider that ate a Bluetooth speaker and is now stomping to the vibrations of whoever's trying to listen to disco through their lost speaker
There’s always one track per Pikmin game that makes you go “wait am I still in the Pikmin playlist???!”
One thing about this soundtrack that isn’t captured by listening to it from videos is that it’s very adaptive. For example, different instruments will play near different types of creatures, and different parts of a boss theme will play depending on what happens in the fight. The groovy longlegs moves entirety to the beat of its boss theme, in fact.
Its cool but also made it so i didnt remember a single track afteer playing aside from the title theme
Groovy Long Legs - "Why does this sound like an entire club rave?" Because the boss is a discoball. On very long legs (Well, in reality probably closer to about 30-50cm due to the scaling of the game, but you know. When your character is canonically 19mm tall, that's towering)
Don't have an explanation for the metal of the final boss but I appreciated it when playing.
The philosophy of Pikmin (and honestly a lot of Nintendo franchises) is to make it seem like just a cute and chill game on the surface, but hold many dark and unsettling things the deeper you look into it.
I personally find joy in the knowledge that Pikmin probably taught hundreds of children the concept of mortality.
What I love about this game is how every song basically is just a piece of an actual song, and the song changes depending on if you're near different types of creatures, adding different instruments for different types of creatures. The Groovey Long Legs boss is actually my favourite example of this, as not only does the music canonically come from the speaker inside its body, it also stomps with its long legs to create the beat hits. The final boss is supposed to give a feeling of "you are literally never safe while fighting this thing, be on your toes, *or else*" and the song really encapsulates that feeling, being basically entirely chaos.
The reaction to the Drumline Cadence was just wild! Did not expect that to be one of the standout tracks but your reaction was just so full of joy and excitement I loved it
I genuinely recommend watching a clip of someone fighting Groovy Long Legs! It really blew me away the first time I saw it, as it moved in time with the music.
The game also has a lot of dynamic music, especially in tracks related to enemies! Which gives the tracks an extra layer of amazing depth :)
“It just looks cute”
I swear to god nobody tell her the horrors of these games
Good pfp
Thank you

groovy long legs is a boss thats movement is synced with the song and the faster the song gets the faster it moves. the actual fight itself is terrifying if youre not use to the pikmin series cause the "long legs" family of enemies has been around since pikmin 1
Yeah us long legs arent the type to mess around !
The metal song at the end is actually a first for this series, caught old and new players off guard as soon as it started playing (myself included lol)
And yet... considering the type of boss fight it was, and all the context behind it, I can say that this Final Boss Theme is amazing and perfect for Pikmin 4. The way the music changes in the vulnerable parts fits so well the idea of "Now's your chance to attack!" and it always makes me imagine the pikmin attacking, like that segment is their own theme. I also noticed that the music during the last phase has parts of the music from the first one playing as well, and its vulnerable part is a more heroic version of the first one too, giving the vibe that this is it, it all has come to this and you're in the final push of the battle
All this to say, I really love that song :)
IM SO HAPPY YOU REACTED TO PIKMIN MUSIC!!! There's a lot of changes from a song to another since these games are set in an unknown planet (from the POV of the playable characters, since its actually the Earth) and there's a ton of stressful situations followed by calm. Imagine being so small that a spider (Long Legs as named in the video) is so big that you must fight against it! I absolutely love these games
(FUN FACT: the spider Groovy Long Legs actually follows the music rythm so it moves faster or slower depending on the rythm!)
In Hero's Hideaway, if the song was what was making you unsettled (it could also have been the Pikmin on screen so idk), I think that's definitely intentional, the song in this area just sounds kinda off and it does make some sense regarding what happens in that area in-game
Regarding the Pikmin series, fights are definitely not what you would think if you have only seen the normal gameplay. I'm looking at you, Man-at-Legs.
I'd also recommend the other Pikmin games' soundtracks. I like them.
Hi brother ! How are you ?
It's a real shame the uploads of the Pikmin 4 OST online are nowhere near as complete as the ones for the other Pikmin games. As multiple people have said the music in this game is extremely adaptive so there are a ton of little additions to each song that aren't included here (though then again there are so many of them that hearing them all would probably take a long time)
My favorite part about this game's soundtrack, which doesnt get shown off very well in this video, is that it's all made of layers that fade in and out depending on where you are / what enemies you're fighting. Im not sure how well it would work, but try playing the Heros Hideaway and Drumline Cadence videos at the same time!
Never played pikmin outside of the pikmin 3 demo haha but it seems like an extremely underrated franchise
U should play Pikmin 2
CZcams need to play the franchise
I would have loved to see ur reaction to the engulfed castle theme! HORROR 💖 nice video! ✨
I love watching people who think pikmin is all cute slowly get exposed to the horror side of the series. Great video!
never played a pikmin game before but i must say the music has such a lovely tone to it ^^
The GLL theme is a disco ball daddy long legs spider, for context. Hope that helps!
definitely check out the other Pikmin games’ soundtracks! this series is like no other, and you ought to check out the games themselves as well~
She needs to do another one of these, possibly including the engulfed castle theme, the one that comes after, and the themes from the night expeditions.
15:11 it is very unusual but honestly fits in very well with the whole atmosphere for the final boss!
Oh you must Pick a Min. It's an experience most find very life-defining. Also Pikmin aren't sprites but actually part-plant!
you gota love pikmins dynamic music system
You need to listen to the olimar journey area versions, they're very medolic and upbeat more traditional kinda videogame music rather than the atmospheric pikmin tricks (which are also good)
a little bit surprised the credits theme didn't show up! one of the most beautiful pieces of music i've heard in a nintendo game.
You would love the other Pikmin's OST's!! They're just as weird but even more peaceful and ambient i'd say.
Im so disappointed that “the waterwraith is coming” wasnt included
14:36 The dog of the elements attacks
If you allow recommendations, my favorite video game soundtrack is Maplestory, which I highly recommend. It's an ongoing online game, so It has had 20 years to accumulate a massive collection of original soundtracks. In fact, I read that a whole 70% of the game's budget goes to music production. Although a fair warning is that it has over 1000 tracks.
There are too many great ones to cover, but if you are interested try "Legend of Zipang", "Secret Stories: Frozen Heart", "Black Mage: Throne of Darkness", "Moon Bridge: Wave of Emptiness," Labrinth of Suffering: Heart of Suffering", "Esfera: A Place Where Life Begins".
Okay Okay, there are just too many amazing pieces
Next Pikmin 1 Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 3 ❤
i be chillin for silly splatty 3
Not knowing what Pikmin is really about from the outside is one of the funniest things imaginable. So much more involved and investing and dangerous and unpredictable and serene and thrilling and relaxing and complex than the average Mario fare... but it does kinda just look like that sort of silly Nintendo stuff from the outside, doesn't it? Listening to a swath from the whole trilogy would really sell how idiosyncratic the series is- like the Impact Site, Garden of Hope, ALL the weird-ass music from Pikmin 2, it is this real anomaly of a... THING. That's what Pikmin is, it's a THING. I know it's not music, but watching the Pikmin short films on CZcams would give you a bit of a better idea what the game's like. Occupational Hazards especially.
And yes, the final boss track was that ludicrous of a left-field sucker punch to all of us as well. That is the joke, it's metal guitar jumpscare.
17:35 It's not the Pikmin themselves you need to worry about. It's the creatures that prey on them that these themes belong to.
I wish you'd listened to the Man-at-Legs theme, it's been living in my head rent free lately.
I know that there's a low likelihood that this is seen, but I NEED a reaction on the soundtrack for MAD RAT DEAD. It has one of my favorite songs in video games, hands down.
My recommendations:
MAD RAT HEART - DYES IWASAKI & Johngarabushi
MAD RAT, ALIVE? - Camellia
Bad Feeling - DYES IWASAKI
Call me Jack - a_hisa
Dancing wind - Yo Oyama
Kind of Hope - Kazuya Takasu
Heartless being - Camellia
(Final Boss) MAD RAT, DIE. - Camellia
Context for those who don't know, MAD RAT DEAD is a rhythm platformer that had a really talented line up of artists (although my biases may be speaking a bit here lol.)
Go check it out! Available on the Switch, show the funny rat game some love. Watched a playthrough and the story still made me tear up.
The weirdness of Hero's Hideaway is indeed supose to feel strange and unsettling as it's played inside a big hunan made house (something the characters have never seen before)
Imagine her reaction to submerged/engulfed castle
i won't listen to the final boss theme because i haven't beaten the game yet (give me a break it's a 40-hour game), but i will come back once i have. anyways, if you're interested in pikmin, just know that the series is often very disturbing/creepy. there are jumpscares, creepy themes, death, consuming of corpses, implications of human extinction, etc. just be prepared for the strange contrast of cute and creepy that is the pikmin series
I hope you do touhou music in the future. The entirety of the series help caused the creation of undertale and all of its music. As a plus the creator of the series is very lax with the copyright for his characters and music which allows for anyone to create derivative works of touhou from song remixes to selling your own games.
For some song suggestions they are
Gensokyo the Gods Loved,
Broken Moon,
Maiden's Capprico,
Love Colored Master Spark,
Flowering Night,
Hartman's Yokai Girl,
and U.N. Owen Was Her.
Serene shores is actually a completely different version that remixes a previous song.
Groovy Long Legs is THE BEST boss in Pikmin 4
I like listening to the music while watching my pikmin die, after that I start crying none stop :3😊😊
When finding groovy long legs for the first time 🥳
great!, now I want a party showoff beetween Pikmin´s Groovy Long Legs and FNaF´s DJ Music Man
Been watching a bunch of your content today. Have you heard anything from the Celeste soundtrack?
Still hoping for Super Paper Mario music since she did Origami King xD
“They just look cute”
Yeah. Yeah they look cute. They sure do. Not much else though
You shoud the the ost of the yo kai watch series from the 3ds those game are very underated and it has some good tracks
pikmin 3,2,1, okay literally all the other pikmin ost is miles better than pikmin 4's but it still does shine at certain moments
The final boss theme sounds like it belongs in Metroid lol
If you listen to Pikmin soundtracks 1 is by far the best
Most of the music aren't even complete on CZcams yet.
I recommend listening to Pikmin 1-3 soundtrack. The music in this franchise is way different and unique than the other Nintendo franchises
YEEAAAAH… (nobody ever knew pikmin before)
It’s kind of a horror game tho
Ay ay ay now……WHERE IS WATER WRAITH’S THEME??
Pikmin is great! The music is better with the context of the game though!
Edit: Although Pikmin looks cutsie it's just an art style. The games are actually decently challanging with creatures and areas and just concepts beyond you imagination!
+ Edit: The other soundtracks in the series just get better! If you can beleive me Pikmin 4 is the most lacking in music in comaprison.
Personally I like Pikmin 2s soundtrack better but 4 has some bangers ngl.
Pikmin 's ost is a masterpiece
You gotta check out the sound track to risk of rain 2, honestly one of my favourite osts ever
i second this, huge fan of both pikmin and risk of rain franchises
Emily I was wondering, do you make your own music? If yes, where can I find it?
Thank you I was waiting for this
Also thanks for not listening to the Water Wraith theme I have PTSD from that bastard (sure hes not that bad in pikmin 4 but pikmin 2 he is a something)
dandori
You know KingCorphish thats so cool :D
but why pikmin 4? I didn't even know they had 4 of them ;;
GROOVY LONG LEGS!
YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAHHH!!!!!!!!
how can I suggest some Videogame ost's?
yeah i see pikmin video and i upvote
Disco bug!
Miitopia part 2 tho?
Wild suggestion but red dead redemption 2
All of the music in this video is really disingenuous to the real nature of the game's music. It's an enormous collage. Drumline Cadence kicks up in tougher fights, yes, but in variations depending on what enemy you're fighting. And it comes up on top of the level music, ALONGSIDE a unique sound motif (hardly can call it a melody, it's just SOUND) for whatever the enemy is. Pikmin is an adaptive and textural musical experience shaped by your own playing of the game, leaps and bounds more than any other (real) game that's ever attempted such a thing.
...except for Pikmin 1 that game doesn't have much of that sort of thing.
YEAAHHHHH PIKMIN!!! ❤️💛💙
Dandori Issue
you should listen to super mario galaxy 2 music
do pikmin 3 😿
Hm, how about doing Honkai Impact 3rd at some point?
D o g
There's way better music on the other Pikmin games
Who recommended this💀
This game has the worst ost in the series imo
