#cuphead #reaction - Hry
Die House is actually sung by a black woman named Alana Bridgewater. Absolutely incredible voice
@@LogShaw1587i doubt that was their intention. its not that deep
@@LogShaw1587???
@@zappamania it's usually those people who say "sUpPOrT bLaCK bUsiNesSes!" (Basically a cheat code for people because of their skin color and that's literally textbook racism) and call people racist all the time so I turned it around on em
@@LogShaw1587what is your problem bro?
It isn't that deep, although I agree on what was the point of bringing in skin colors
If I'm not mistaken, most of Cuphead's OST was performed and recorded live in studio, as it's emulating the old-school animation style.
It was, there’s a video showing them playing floral fury
Tell her about "baking the Wondertart" theme, it's the final boss theme of the cuphead DLC, or just tell her about the cuphead DLC OST, I'm not a member
I believe that instrument that gave the xylophone sound was a vibraphone, which would be very much in line with 30s and 40s big band style.
percussionist here, can confirm it's a vibraphone!
Also a percussionist.
Sounds like a vibraphone with yarn-covered wood mallets with resonators attached, but the vibratto is off.
Cal Tjader was legendary with this instrument.
Percussionist here, also can confirm
9:48 So fun fact:
When Cuphead joined Smash Ultimate as a Mii Costume, Floral Fury got added in the OST to celebrate his inclusion, just like how a remix of Megalovania was added in it when Sans joined as a Mii Costume as well. Really wish we got a remix of Floral Fury, but the fact that the original is in the game is good enough!
It even played in the video revealing his costume
Cuphead's OST is indeed performed by a live band! There's a snippet of Floral Fury's live recording on the developers' YT channel, and that of several other themes as well.
Cuphead had an insane level of effort put into it in general, not just in the music, and the whole game was made by a very small team; it's really inspiring to see a development studio put so much care into their art to make it as authentic as possible
0:03 Introduction

6:16 Threatin' Zeppelin

Obrigado amigo, você é um amigo.
Opa, um brasileiro! 🫡
Cuphead has such an amazing ost truly
In case you're curious, all of the songs after Die House were boss themes.
Wrong. Carnival Kerfuffle is from a Run & Gun level.
@@kristopherfletcher2235 No. That's Funfair Fever. Carnival Kerfuffle is the clown dude's music.
@@kristopherfletcher2235 Actually Carnival Kerfuffle plays when you fight Beppi the Clown, you might be confused with funfair fever 👍
Yeah, but it’s understandable since
The names are so similar
@@MonkomediaYT I was going to say this, but I didn't know how to phrase it without turning it into an argument. Thanks for this.
If this gets a part 2, I’d love to see some of the DLC tracks included, because they’re all amazing.
High noon hoopla, bootleg, and baking the wonder tart are my favorites
In the dlc only, not the whole game. The whole game is a different story. More songs I like.
Everything in the OST is recorded live in studio and every animation is hand-drawn. The DLC also has some good soundtracks. Nice video 👍
the dlc ost bangs
The delicious last course!
@@m.s.5370 The delicious last course!
me when the last course is delicious:
As a brazilian i can tell you floral fury is a peefect representation of our samba
Indeed it is!
🎉Eu concordo com você meu nobre 🎉

For you that seem so confused, the instrument that plays here 12:39 is a cuíca, a common type of Brazilian friction drum.
If this ever gets a part 2, I recommend checking out Murine Corps. It’s my personal favorite from the OST.
I think a good one to listen to also is inkwell hell its pretty calming
Sugarland Shimmy is a good one too!
and lest hope she checks the DLC with the ice wizard and mafia bugs themes!!
Ruze of an Ooze is my personal favorite
My personal favorite is Aviary Action. That tenor/alto solo at 2:52 in the song is equisite (not this video, as in the song)
I’m pretty sure that Cuphead and the movie Whiplash some of the main reasons I like the sounds of Big Bang Jazz.
“One hell of a time” is a mix of all the boss battle music and it is the final boss vs the Devil. This game is like a boss rush, it’s mostly boss battles and they are really hard.
It’s a very hard game if you are into it, I recommend it.
Again it’s a game with mostly boss battles and less platforming (but those are also hard) so the music you have listened to is mostly boss music (Die House is King Dice’s character theme, I think you heard his boss music in the beginning as the first song)
If you go this crazy for Jazz, somebody should recommend the "Skullgirls" OST.
LET'S GIVE A BIG HAND FOR BIG BAND!
@@trikurrdurr3992HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Here are my recomendations for part 2:
Sugarland Shimmy
Aviary Action
Murine Corps
Dramatic Fanatic
Railroad Wrath
Moonshine Mob
Snowcult Scuffle
high sea hi jinx too
Also the honeycomb one (I forgot the name)
@@Bucketnetta lol I put that originally but removed becouse there was too much isle 3
@@brunolike8631 lol
Sugarland Shimmy is my favorite track in the game tbh
There are I think 2 videos of the practicing/recording of this OST, I'm sure you'd love to check those.
The solo's are improvised. In fact, there are differences between the music that plays in-game and the OST version of the music. There's some different solos in-game that you will not hear when listening to the OST.
The goodness doesn't stop with Cuphead's OST, other tracks like Aviary Action, Junkyard Jive, Clipjoint Calamity, and Funfair Fever (which has a subtle leitmotif) are amazing and enjoyable to listen to
I got so excited when I listened to the intro to "Die House", because that intro is also used in one of my favorite mens' style/clothing channels here on CZcams, "The Gentleman's Gazette"! :)
The DLC should be its own video.
They brought the band bacl together and absolutely burned down the place.
Highnoon Hoopla even got a video of the live studio performance.
But nothing. *Nothing.* Holds a candle to Baking the Wondertart.
There has to be a Part Two and a Part Three to the Cuphead soundtrack, including The Delicious Last Course ost.
I absolutely LOVE big band! Came across the genre when I was younger and I have been in love with it ever since. Every time I hear a trumpet a couple of snare drums, I get so excited and hyperactive. My favorite instrument in a jazz band would be the bass! Big, strong, deep, and the foundation of the melodies 💪💪
0:03 - "Introduction"
4:00 - "Die House"
6:16 - "Threatenin' Zeppelin" (vs Hilda Berg)
9:48 - "Floral Fury" (vs Cagney Carnation)
14:06 - "Carnival Kerfuffle" (vs Beppi the Clown)
18:07 - "One Hell of a Time" (vs The Devil)
Yes! Love to see it! The cuphead soundtrack is amazing. If you ever do a part 2 though I recommend checking out Fiery Frolic, Pyramid Peril, and Baking the Wondertart. Just some of my personal favorites.
Cuphead is a notoriously challenging bullet-hell-ish platformer where the player, projectiles, and every single level and boss is gorgeously hand rendered on real animation cels in 1920s/30s style noodley cartoon animation. Oh and the backgrounds are all real watercolor paintings of course!
The meat of the game is 28! (not counting the D.L.C.) incredibly creative and charismatic bosses, each with multiple phases that often completely change the context of the boss and the environment as you go. It's the first game by Studio MDHR, which is a studio founded by two brothers Chad and Jared Moldenhauer (MolDenHauR -> MDHR) in order to create the game, very much a passion project and a frankly absurd undertaking for a startup indie studio, I've seen an estimation of around 50,000 animation frames, so many animation cels...
The game was announced in 2013 and took another 4 years to be completed. it started with a 3 person team, grew to 14, partnered with Microsoft, and still stretched it's deadlines to the breaking point. With the founders taking on as many loans as they could and even remortgaging their house apparently. But all that did come after a 2015 showcase of the game that got everybody excited and talking about the game so it wasn't a completely blind dive. Anyway the game was very successful when it did finally come out, instant classic in more ways than one, it sold over 6 million copies over the first 2 years. In addition to the DLC, there was also a netflix show both in 2022, and a boardgame in 2021.
And to top it off cuphead was released as a Mii costume in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. And the costume also comes with Floral Fury as a music track in smash! It's one of only 3 costumes that come with music (the others being Shantae with Burning Town and of course Sans with MEGALOVANIA)
You will like "Baking the Wondertart" theme, it's the theme of the final boss for the dlc
If you revisit this you have to listen to botanic panic, murine corps, and The kings court
Introduction and floral fury are absolutely classic! I also really like carnival kerfuffle. I'm happy to see appreciation for the incredible music in this game. The entire soundtrack is absolutely incredible!
Cuphead's soundtrack, much like the game's overall look, is heavily inspired by cartoons from the 1930's, in particular cartoons made by Fleischer Studios, who made Betty Boop and Popeye cartoons. Dave and Max Fleischer where HUGE fans of Jazz back in those days, hence why there's a lot of Jazz in Cuphead's soundtrack, along with Swing and Ragtime.
If you do a part 2 I heavily recommend murine corps, bootlegger boogie and baking the wondertart. Absolute bangers
I love that floral fury is classic Brazilian samba!
If you like jazz you should react to Skullgirls music. There actually is a character called Big Band in it who has a cyborg body made of band instruments and he uses them in combat. Also his theme is right up your alley.
Hm, very nice OST.
The Delicious Last Course next, perhaps?
Another set of great jazz/big band game soundtracks would be "Sam & Max: Save the World", "Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space" and "Grim Fandango"!
The xylophone solo in one hell of a time is the best
A recommendation I would give would be Hi-Fi Rush. An amazing rhythm-action game with an incredible soundtrack of varying subgenres of Rock. Some are even direct homages to existing pieces, since they have a "Streamer" mode which replaces all the licensed music with the aforementioned original pieces.
The only problem is that the songs are all 7-10 minutes long.
Listen to the dlc of cuphead too because i think its jawdropping especialy baking the wondertart.
Cuphead os definitely one of my favorite OSTs of all time. You should check out World of Goo's OST, that one is my #1 favorite now and forever.
If you do a part 2, I 100% recommend baking the wondertart
There are also the Cuphead DLC OSTs which you could also listen to.
If you make a part 2, I recommend that you react to the ost "Murine Corps", it is a very good ost but it is very underrated!
I'm so glad you did this. I was waiting very patiently for it, and was starting to think it'd never happen.
Next order of business: SIDE ORDER!
If you do a Part 2, I HIGHLY recommend you react to "Baking The Wondertart" from the DLC ost. It's arguably the best track in the entire game.
Emily, I highly recommend to listen to the ost of Penny’s Big Breakaway.
The game was made by the same creators of Sonic Mania and the soundtrack to it is just as good as, if not better than Sonic Mania, imo.
Balearic Birds, Chromatic Oscillations, and Scientific Method are some of my personal favorite songs from it.
Plus, if you ever consider playing the game for yourself, it’s available on literally every major system for a low price.
You shouldndefinitely listen to more of these! My personal picks are snow cult scuffle and baking the wondertart, absolute bangers
You would adore the opportunity to take a jazz history class if you like the music in this game. This type of music is called “Swing” Jazz; originating in the late 1930’s. It was made for, as well as from, pure pleasure!! Awesome stuff!!!
9:00 "...or a rhythmic bone in my body." You do. Earlier in the video, you were bobbing your head left and right... to the beat of the music. On beat, if I might add. That's your rhythmic bone.
From there, you just have to translate it into movement for your arms and legs that begins and ends at such beats. But even if you don't, your neck doesn't seem to mind dancing.
There are multiple takes of each boss theme btw at least for the dlc so a few different varitions play.
It’s definitely the era of music that I wish I grew up in as well. Whenever I can, I try to write in the style for my band just because of the feeling, the energy, is there I save the refiness of the arrangements. BB/swing tends to be some things that others in my life don’t care for; but, it’s definitely true to my soul.
Also, whenever I am able to compose for any projects, if it will complement the media I’m writing for, I will almost always switch that 1920s to 1950s ragtime/big band style of writing. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this game was recorded with a live big band.
Finallyyy!!! This is the soundtrack I've been waiting for you to react. The whole OST is nothing but bangers and I hope you do a part 2. My personal favorite is Murine Corps.
So glad you enjoyed this one! If you ever consider a part 2 for this game, "Railroad Wrath" is a must-listen!
Will you check some Professor Layton osts someday? Im sure you'd love it!
Oh hell yeah
Carnival Kerfuffle is my favorite song from this soundtrack, but I don’t hear many people talking about it, it’s so good
I hope Bootlegger Boogie from the DLC is reacted to in part 2, it’s my favorite
I've never heard this ost either. Now you just need to listen to Over the Garden Wall
Some of my favorite that you haven’t covered yet is Aviary Action, Railroad Wrath, and (even though it’s not in the game but included in the OST) The Airship!
Actually, the boss themes have different solos from the in game and the soundtrack versions, especially Carnival Kerfuffle
I performed a bunch of these last summer with a big band and they were super challenging pieces but very fun.
all of these apart of introduction and die house are boss themes
the entire game is like 20-ish bosses back to back
OOOO SHE SHOULD REACT TO THE DLC TRACKS, bootlegger boogie is a great one
Almost all of the songs you listened to were boss themes. One Hell of a Time had hints of other boss themes mixed into it.
It is for this exact reason why I love prog-rock/prog-metal so much - bands such as The Dear Hunter (my favourite album from them is Act V: Hymns with the Devil in Confessional) are absolutely my jam. ❤
Hi! All of the Cuphead OST was recorded by a big BIG band, I'm talking easily 20 people, there are some Behind the Scenes uploaded by Studio MDHR (I think that's right) where they show them perform. Also, there are approximately up to 4 or 5 versions of every song because they kept those with little mistakes or breath sounds caused by the musicians, all playing somewhere at the game (the ones at the streamable OST are the "perfect" versions).
Die House is sung by a beautiful black woman and played by her band, there's a CZcams video where she sings it live.
I'm so glad cuphead is still getting the recognition it deserves with this top 3 of a video game OST from last decade.
Ah, Floral Fury, the only track in the entire game that wasn't 30s/40s/50s swing, and the track that was chosen to be in Smash Ultimate.
Now for the delicious last course (dlc soundtrack)
I bet you'd love the KUNG FU PANDA 2 SOUNDTRACK- IT'S SO FUCKING GOOD 😭
My piano teacher did a large amount of the piano on the soundtrack! Coolest piano teacher 😅
Love everything about this game. True art
if you love big band music you would love the super mario 3d world ost
If we lived in that era, we would’ve never heard these songs.
Damn I tend to focus and struggle so much on the boss fights of this game I didn't even realize how amazing the OST is
Some of the recording sessions are on CZcams.
I wouldn’t mind a part 2. I would recommend junkyard jive and botanic panic.
You would absolutely LOVE Ori and the Will of the Wisps' OST 🤩
SAME THOUGHTS, FAVORITE OST IIN JAZZ VIDEOGAME HISTORY
12:39That hot straw being pushed in and out of a cup with a plastic lid…. Makes me want to go to McDonalds😂
Cuphead OST is a jam, I'm happy you gave it a listen ! And I'm glad that it made your day better
when you mentioned big band, i remembered the character from skullgirls of the same name, the game has a similar style, have you reacted to its OST before?
You should really check out the Risk of Rain 2 soundtrack, incredible indie game OST, very unique.
OHMYGOD YES!!! YES!!! YES!!! VICTORY, VICTORY IS OURS CUPBOIS
But in a serious note I’m so happy that you finally listened to Cuphead OST because the game has amazing music that sounds unique! 😂🎉
A fun fact about Die House I havent seen mentioned is that it is a woman who sings it. I also mistook it for a man the first times around 🫢
You'll probably like L.A. Noire
There are SO MANY good tracks to react to in Cuphead. Like several videos worth.
Finally some more people reacting to those banger OSTs
HAS SHE DONE COWBOY BEBOP?!
IK thats not a Video Game, but the Anime OST is my favorite Anime OST
You should definitely react to the DLC for this game. The final boss track is AMAZING!
Maybe if you love this you could sidestep into Grim Fandango's soundtrack, as the era influences are similar. Lots of different moods to experience, a few surprises.
This brought me so much joy ^-^
YES!! Ever since you've reacted to Undertale and Deltarune's OST Cuphead was one of my main recommendations for what to listen next and I'm so glad you're finally listening to and enjoyed it. Hope you try the game sometime as well. For other OST recommendations, I hope you listen to the Touhou OST too sometime.
Forgot to mention, the JJK OST slaps too
I hope that you keep listening this OST, because it's FIRE
Such a great OST
Please, listen "Manor house Rally", "Border Town" and "Operation Market Garden" from Medal of Honor Frontline OST, by Michael Giacchino (composer of many soundtracks, like The Incredibles 1 ando 2).
You gonna love it.
if you do a second part to this, please react to dramatic fanatic.
check out the Cuphead DLC soundtracks too! I'd argue they're among the best of the game.
No Botanic Panic!? come on!
Part 2 better have sugarland shimmy and dramatic fanatic /silly :3
FINALLY GOD, FINALLY, GOD LISTENED TO ME
some day we will see monster hunter world reaction. maybe xD I mean missing out on fatalis theme is a crime
