  • Should you long toss everyday? That is the question I answer today! Long toss can be a great way to increase pitching velocity and throwing velocity but I see long toss done wrong too often. Here is a formula I use for getting the most out of my long toss throwing program. Do you long toss everyday? How far do you go? Have you increased your pitching velocity or throwing velocity because of your long toss throwing program? Let me know in the comments below!

With winter time quickly approaching and the mosquitos have trapped our team indoors what are some really nice hitting drills that can be performed in let’s say 1/2 of a 2 car garage.

Hey coach I'm a freshman in highschool and want to play professional ball. I take 200 swings a day 4-5 days a week. I also throw about 25 warm up throws 25 long toss and 25 from pitching distance 2-3 days a week. Tell me what else I need to do. I'm open to anything. Love your videos. Thanks

Can you help me adjust this for youth ages. 8,9,10, and 11 or 12 at most? Due to only having very small amount time with kids and knowing very little of what they do outside of practice makes it hard to judge reps and intensity. Say maybe 1 or 2 practices tops at times a week for 1.5 to 2 hr practices. Hopefully that makes sense of my question.

I have a decent amount of drop on my fastball as well...does this mean throwing for a longer distance is less beneficial for me in longtoss? Also what is a good start off for someone who throws low 80s...

John, I have been struggling all year off and on with pain in my throwing arm. Yesterday I had an amazing day, arm felt great. I was hitting my marks and hitting mid 80s in practice. But today in warmups my arm stsrted to feel horrible. (Yes I wear a compression sleeve.) Besides going into surgery and calling it quits, what other ways is there to kind of work with or around this. (I will be getting it looked at after next week as this is my last week for this season.) But I want to see how you dealt with elbow pain as an athlete.

Power comes from ground up. Work on leg, core strength. Fast twitch explosive exercises. Long toss put too much stress on elbow.

Assuming this does not remain true for youth baseball? Talking about 8 & 9 year olds in the offseason? Our head coach is strongly against throwing of any kind pretty much.
