Jake Gordon I don’t do cleanses. I just started a workout program, don’t even count calories, just eat until full (no over eat) In healthy but delicious foods. I went down 9 pounds in 3 weeks. I guess Christmas helped me gain lol
When we were dating my wife used to always pick on me for shopping in the middle of the night, so I made her come with me during the day. 3 hours later she never picked on me again. lol
My heart was actually racing there towards the end. This is exactly what it’s like in Northern Ireland. You can’t buy milk without bumping into someone you know.
When I worked at my Dad's Grocery in the 70's, I saw this all day. Even had some people say, ya'll hurry up before so and so sees me and wants to talk.
Wish you would have covered the awkwardness of running into someone in the grocery store, talking a bit, saying goodbye, only to see them in 5 or 6 other aisles. Do we say hi again? Do we say bye again? Do I try to avoid you the rest of my shopping trip? 🙈🤭😨
That's what I would do. Being friendly is great, but your kids come first. I'd rather my kids know they can depend on me than impress people I don't even like.

Yeah... if she had made it out of the store she wouldn't have been in the clear, I cannot tell you how many times I have seen people shooting the breeze in the parking lot. One time I was leaving the mall parking lot and I was blocked by what seemed to be 8-12 people standing there socializing.
My dad was leaving the store and one of my friends saw him, started to approach him. My dad sped up cause he didn't know who it was and is usually on alert even if there's a fly in his peripheral. But then my friend just shouted "Don't act like you don't see me, Mr G!!!" Luckily they had a laugh and luckily x2 my dad is a talker.
Do people block your way out by stopping their vehicle to chat with somebody who was walking in as they were leaving? That happens here off and on (I live in a small rural town in TN).
That's so real. Every Sunday at Minyards this would happen to my mom. I'll be in the car waiting for 20-30 mins for her to get a simple item. Everytime it's because she saw somebody she ain't seen in a while. 😄
Oh my gosh, this could just as easily be Downpatrick, my little town in Ireland! The more of these videos I see, the more I think Ireland IS the southern USA!
Many of our ancestors came from Ireland (including mine, I'm one eighth Irish). The US South was mainly settled by Anglo/Irish/Scots. A visitor from one of those countries driving through the South and noticing names on mailboxes on rural postal routes would feel right at home.
I’m from East Tennessee, Appalachian mountains ( considered southern by many, or sort of southern) My home was settled by mostly Scot and Irish people. So there’s lots of traditions, music, and food that is similar. We are very proud of our heritage too! There’s people from Cornwall too. Anywhere that had miners , people would immigrate to then us to dig in our mines. Applachia is known for its coal production. There’s lots of videos and Facebook pages about the Applachian Folkways. There’s even a Museum of Applachia in Norris ,Tennessee . If you in eastern Tennessee it’s well worth driving up to Norris to see the museum. There’s a big TVA dam and parkland there to that’s beautiful. The museum has events during the year. The music is awesome. Just a few folks with whatever instruments they play ( guitars, fiddles, drums and penny whistles) getting together and making music for awhile .
That looks like a AAA card-instead of a credit or debit-that was giving her errors. Poor gal. It is incredibly hard to complete that mission, even on a good day-or at 2AM in a Walmart when you figure most folks you know aren’t even awake. 😂👍🏻
@@YSLRD Some close at night, some don't. The people that always made me stop and stare were the families with children of all ages doing their shopping at 1AM. I remember when my local Walmart had to close due to a power outage. There was a crowd of about 50 people all standing around the locked door, none of us sure what to do. We kind of wandered around aimlessly for a while and then went home.
Amen to that! That's why I miss Wal-Mart being open 24-7 because I can get my Pepsi and dorito's without "BUMPING INTO SOMEONE" from your fifth grade choir practice or your parents bridge club! 🚫🤬

Great video! I am a retired doctor who used to work & live in a small town in upstate New York -- after just 6 months there, I couldn’t even stop for milk & eggs at the only grocery store in town unless I had 45 minutes to spare.
As a deli seafood clerk here's my input on customers talking to other customers. It can go a few ways: * First they tell you what they need then they see someone they know. They then proceed to talk to that person while you wait to ask them if they need anything else. Normally 5+ mins goes by and they say no and your standing there like :|. *or* * They start talking to someone they know while waiting in line. When you get to them, they go back n forth between you and the person they're talking to, normally forgetting what they need or what they just got. :| *or* * They finish getting their stuff and bump into someone they know. They then proceed to stand in front of the counter talking like its a 5 star meeting spot. So freaking annoying because every coworker will ask you or them if they've been helped. :| Yah. I hate my job. Especially the people who are either: on their phone, been waiting in line and haven't even looked at what they want and proceed to take 5 mins to figure it out (you had so much time satan), or go back n forth between the different sections, ie. their waiting at the hot case but want lunch meet but then want hot food, like ya kidding me, I walk enough.
Now, come on guys, a real Southern mom would say, "Oh, 'scuse me ya'll, but I have to pick up the kids and I'm running a little late.". No one would stop her then.
My Grandpa was a beloved teacher in a small town for decades. He couldn't go anywhere in town without running into ex-students wanting to talk. He didn't mind but it drove the rest of us crazy.
A little useless trivia for you folks, The shopping cart AKA "buggy" as we say in southern Oklahoma was invented in Ardmore, Oklahoma. And so was the coin operated car wash.
This is why I get groceries delivered and Shipt/Instcart are my BFFs. Go drop it off in the delivery bin outside on the porch and I’ll go get it when you leave so I’m not forced to talk to people. Doorbell cameras have also been the greatest invention ever. Alexa told me you arrived so I don’t have to check.
This is very accurate. Nearly everytime I go to Walmart or any one of the local stores in my area, I usually see someone that either is one of my cousins, church family, former school classmates, or someone that was good friends with my parents or grandparents and they want a life update of how they're doing. I don't mind talking to them, but if I am in a hurry, I probably look like Talia.
Also important to remember is that if you’re not wearing makeup and your hair is in a greasy bun, you’ll run into half the people from your graduating class, three folks from church and a woman you haven’t seen since your adult children were in elementary school together!

My Mom would never go shopping with my Dad, it would tack on 20 + minutes with him talking with friends, Good Ol Boys and complete strangers.

As a deli seafood clerk here's my input on customers talking to other customers. It can go a few ways:
* First they tell you what they need then they see someone they know. They then proceed to talk to that person while you wait to ask them if they need anything else. Normally 5+ mins goes by and they say no and your standing there like :|.
*or*
* They start talking to someone they know while waiting in line. When you get to them, they go back n forth between you and the person they're talking to, normally forgetting what they need or what they just got. :|
*or*
* They finish getting their stuff and bump into someone they know. They then proceed to stand in front of the counter talking like its a 5 star meeting spot. So freaking annoying because every coworker will ask you or them if they've been helped. :|
Yah. I hate my job. Especially the people who are either: on their phone, been waiting in line and haven't even looked at what they want and proceed to take 5 mins to figure it out (you had so much time satan), or go back n forth between the different sections, ie. their waiting at the hot case but want lunch meet but then want hot food, like ya kidding me, I walk enough.

My Grandpa was a beloved teacher in a small town for decades. He couldn't go anywhere in town without running into ex-students wanting to talk. He didn't mind but it drove the rest of us crazy.

This is why I get groceries delivered and Shipt/Instcart are my BFFs. Go drop it off in the delivery bin outside on the porch and I’ll go get it when you leave so I’m not forced to talk to people.

This is very accurate. Nearly everytime I go to Walmart or any one of the local stores in my area, I usually see someone that either is one of my cousins, church family, former school classmates, or someone that was good friends with my parents or grandparents and they want a life update of how they're doing. I don't mind talking to them, but if I am in a hurry, I probably look like Talia.
