      The peach hack works if they're fairly ripe. I use it to peel them when making jam. Make a cross on the bottom of the peach, boil for 1 minute then put in ice water for like 30 seconds and immediately peel. Works a charm for us.

      My mom taught me an easier way how to peel garlics. Idk if you have already included this in your previous kitchen hack (the last one I watched was part 3, looks like I'm going to have a barryton tonight). The hack is simple. You need to soak your garlics in a basin/bowl of water for at least half an hour. I advise you to peel off the outer skin before soaking it, if you leave it the inside of the garlic is still dry despite it's wet on the outside. Once you already soaked them for a while, from the bottom of the garlic, you can easily peel off the skin like peeling off a banana. I hope you could give this kitchen hack a try since it helped with this mundane task

      @@LiterallyAllNamesAreTaken in the case of nectarines, yes, you are right, but cross-breeding different plants is a thing. People have been grafting since biblical times. Cross-pollination is a different method of cross-breeding. There are other ways as well.

    • @brianargo4595
      @brianargo4595 Před 5 lety +4

      You literally do. The same genus of plants can be bred together, just like the same genus of dog (corn has been turned from a hard stubby grain to a big juicy ear and wolves have been turned into teacup poodles. And both can be bred together. Just not with each other. Unless crispr.)

    • @Dancingpinata-
      @Dancingpinata- Před 5 lety +4

      Phankitty Wouldn't pluots be considered "crossbred" then? They're plums and apricots bred together!
      Also, from a technical standpoint, all citrus fruits are derived from the original, ancestral citrus fruits: citron, pomelo, mandarin, papedas, and kumquats. Lemons and limes (for example) are hybrids of multiple of these, versus the tangerine which is derived from only one (a subset of mandarins). The orange is also a hybrid, derived from crossbreeding pomelos and mandarins to be in its modern form. We've been hybridizing fruits, and other plants, for a very long time with citrus plants being a very well documented category!
      If you like the subject its very interesting to read about!

    TOMATOES
    1. Make cross on the skin on the underside
    2 Place in boiling water for 30 to 45 seconds
    3 Remove from water and place in an iced water bowl
    4 Remove from water and peel the tomato

    Oh yeah, the peach fuss! I prefer nectarines! I usually don't have much problems with texture, but eating a peach is just... I mean the big peaches you can take the skin off, but the flat ones, I wonder, do people just wash them and bite into them?
    I heard of the tomato hack a long time ago, but it's usually cooking them on the stove and then putting them into ice water.

    The tomatoes are like blanching them as you did with the peaches. But the reason is to make a dish with tomato dice that you don’t have the skin on. Such as salsa which tastes better with blanched tomatoes

    The skin of tomatoes doesn't soften while cooking so you take the skin of for smoother (pasta) sauces, soups, curries, anything with cooked tomatoes really. Especially for homemade tomato soup it makes a huge difference!

    For the peach hack you can try cutting a incision along the peach 'bum' then poach it like you did and it should work i think🤔🤔

    Mrs. B is right about the pineapple. It works as long as the pineapple is fairly ripe.
