This was the series that got me from the MCU and into comics. Absolutely loved it and, sure, it was complex but even a newbie liked me could follow it, even if I didn’t pick up on everything. Needless to say I am buying this!
The spine issue is such an obvious oversight it's just pure laziness and shows how little marvel actually cares about their product anymore. I'd be absolutely embarrassed to release it in that manner.
Thank you for the suggested reading list for this story. Secret Warriors is one of my favorite comic book stories and it solidified Nick Fury as my favorite Marvel character. And I hope you get as detailed as you want to with the stories you're presenting.
I definetly enjoy the reviews where you go deep into the story. I don't care about spoilers because I know I will not remember them when I eventually get to read the story 😅

@@NearMintCondition I can't confirm for Vol 2 of course (Do you have the DM for this one?) But an ebay seller posted pics of both Volumes 1 and the Reg does have the blue spine. I don't think it'll change anything to the (A) problem, and, honestly, having a blue and black spine side to side is kinda fun
I will also say, it's ironic the new volume's A's don't match up, given the new fantastic four omni's, the images are at different heights too, so the icons/logos/volume numbers aren't aligned either. It's a bit less egregious than the A, but seems it's still keeping to a pattern somehow...even if the pattern is the lack of flowing consistency between the volume spines. 😅
Very disappointing about the spine art. Especially after how long this has been delayed. Waiting so long just for them to goof up one of the coolest aspects of the original printing design. Guess I'll just make custom dust jackets for them.
Usually it’s the dust jacket, table of contents, lack of cover art, or lack of an I that ruins it for the average buyer. You’d think both Marvel and DC would realize all of this by now.
I guess it's a good thing I have so much other stuff to read since I still have to wait on FF Vol 1, Avengers Vol 2, and Secret Warriors so I can read these all in order
The DM cover did look cool but so glad that I went with the standard especially after seeing the spine differences, would've been so mad at having vol 1 not match my vol 2 lol

Yes I think you should do a story spoilers. This would help when a volume comes out but you may not remember what batman stories or iron man stories were in this omnibus before we buy it.
They need to reprint the Shield Hardcovers into one omnibus cause it looks like both are long out of print and over MSRP now on the aftermarket. Hopefully we'll get an omnibus of Hickmans Ultimate Avengers too.

My copy arrived today… At last after all the delays.. I’m so so happy. The fat Infinity gn was one of the first Marvel stories I ever read and it was smashing, and I have since desperately been wanting this omni.
This along with vol. 2 are the best omnibuses I own. What an amazing story. Unfortunately Secret Wars isn’t includdd in the two omnis but still, Peak Marvel.
I managed to get both volumes of this run a year and a half ago and I read them in two days like a man possessed. I’m so excited for people that will get to read this for the first time.
I originally got these in Hachette hardcover collected editions but I think I'm going to get these anyway just for the slightly bigger size for the epic artwork. This is the last great run of a Marvel comics series, it's a keeper.
Could the spines be different with these new printing example old stnd print to new stmnd print may stay the same while the new DM has the ugly bad connecting spines?
I really hope Hickman's Ultimates gets a Complete Collection at some point cause I remember reading it back when it was coming out (not paying attention to his main Avengers or New Avengers series lol) and I liked it a lot so seeing all that get compiled into a single book to fit it with the other Complete Collections of his work would be amazing.

This run came out during an extended period of time when I wasn't reading comics. I'm on the fence. The art looks fantastic but it seems like there's a lot of people standing around talking and not a lot action and movement. My only exposure to Hickman is his time on X-Men. I liked House of X/Powers of X, but I felt like the X books lost their way after that great start. How does this compare to Hickman's era of X-Men? I'm also not keen on the lack of table of contents, no page numbers, covers in the back, etc. Can anyone here sell me on this run? 🙂
Man if only I didn't sell my secret wars and fantastic four omnis. But with what marvel decides to reprint and how long inbetween if it's a tied together story arc how can you blame people for selling their marvel whales. That spine is disgusting and I hope they fix it before they get em sent out.

Just for clarification since I couldn’t find the spot in this past weekend’s Saturday stream where you mentioned it: is it the standard or DM reprints whose A symbol spine pattern is still intact (as in correctly matching like the first printings of Vol. 1-2) across both volumes? Couldn’t remember which you said and haven’t yet tracked down anyone else with both printings.
How important is the Ultimates/Thor/S.H.I.E.L.D. stuff? I ask because I want to jump into Hickman, but all I have is FF atm... Wow. The misaligned "A" is very disappointing, especially since that is what you'll see everyday on your shelf. I definitely prefer the covers throughout the book rather than all collected at the end, and I'm not sure why they'd ever make Omnis without page numbers or a table of contents.
